First reading (Isaiah 35: 4–7a)
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.
Thus says the LORD: Say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not! Here is your God, he comes with vindication; with divine recompense he comes to save you. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared; then will the lame leap like a stag, then the tongue of the mute will sing. Streams will burst forth in the desert, and rivers in the steppe. The burning sands will become pools, and the thirsty ground, springs of water.
Second reading (James 2: 1–5)
A reading from the letter of Saint James.
My brothers and sisters, show no partiality as you adhere to the faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. For if a man with gold rings and fine clothes comes into your assembly, and a poor person in shabby clothes also comes in, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say, “Sit here, please,” while you say to the poor one, “Stand there,” or “Sit at my feet,” have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil designs? Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters. Did not God choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?
Gospel (Mark 7: 31–37)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark.
Again Jesus left the district of Tyre and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, into the district of the Decapolis. And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man’s ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, “Ephphatha!”— that is, “Be opened!” —And immediately the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. They were exceedingly astonished and they said, “He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

So to those who are afraid: "Have courage, do not fear. See, your God comes, demanding justice. He is the God who rewards, the God who comes to save you." Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unsealed. Then will the lame leap as a hart and the tongue of the dumb sing and shout. For water will break out in the wilderness and streams gush forth from the desert. The thirsty ground will become a pool, the arid land springs of water.
Second reading (James 2: 1–5)

My brothers and sisters, if you truly believe in our glorified Lord, Jesus Christ, you will not discriminate between persons. Suppose a person enters the synagogue where you are assembled, dressed magnificently and wearing a gold ring; at the same time, a poor person enters dressed in rags. If you focus your attention on the well-dressed and state, "Come and sit in the best seat," while to the poor one you state, "Stay standing or else sit down at my feet," have you not, in fact, made a distinction between the two? Have you not judged, using a double standard? Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters, did God not choose the poor of this world to receive the riches of faith and to inherit the kingdom which he has promise to those who love him?
Gospel (Mark 7: 31–37)

Again Jesus set out; from the country of Tyre he passed through Sidon and skirting the sea of Galilee he came to the territory of Decapolis. There a deaf man who also had difficulty in speaking was brought to him. They asked Jesus to lay his hand upon him. Jesus took him apart from the crowd, put his fingers into the man's ears and touched his tongue with spittle. Then, looking up to heaven, he groaned and stated to him, "Ephphetha." that is, "Be opened." And his ears were opened, his tongue was loosened, and he began to speak clearly. Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone, but the more he insisted on this, the more they proclaimed it. The people were completely astonished and stated, "He has done all things well; he makes the deaf hear and the dumb speak."
Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 146) (Verses 6–10)

Blessed are they whose help is the God of Jacob; he gives justice to the oppressed, gives food to the hungry, and gives the prisoners freedom and liberty.
The Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord straightens the bent. The Lord protects the stranger.
The Lord sustains the widow and the orphan, but brings to ruin the way of the wicked. The Lord shall reign forever, your God, O Zion, from generation to generation. Alleluia!

Miren, hermanos, ¿acaso no ha escogido Dios a los pobres de este mundo para hacerlos ricos en la fe? ¿No les dará el reino que prometió a quienes lo aman?

Cuando Jesús volvía de la región de Tiro, pasó por Sidón y fue hacia el mar de Galilea, atravesando el territorio de la Decápolis. Entonces le presentaron a un sordomudo y le pidieron que le impusiera las manos. Jesús lo separó de la multitud y, llevándolo aparte, le puso los dedos en las orejas y con su saliva le tocó la lengua. Después, levantando los ojos al cielo, suspiró y dijo: “Efatá,” que significa: “Ábrete.” Y enseguida se abrieron sus oídos, se le soltó la lengua y comenzó a hablar normalmente. Jesús les mandó insistentemente que no dijeran nada a nadie, pero cuanto más insistía, ellos más lo proclamaban y, en el colmo de la admiración, decían: “Todo lo ha hecho bien: hace oír a los sordos y hablar a los mudos.”

Ito ang sabihin sa pinanghihinaan ng loob: “Huwag kang matakot, lakasan mo ang iyong loob! Darating na ang Diyos, at ililigtas ka sa mga kaaway.” Ang mga bulag ay makakakita, at makakarinig ang mga bingi. Ang mga pilay ay lulundag na parang usa, aawit sa galak ang mga pipi. Mula sa kaparangan ay aagos ang tubig, at dadaloy sa disyerto ang mga batis. Ang nakakapasong buhanginan ay magiging isang lawa, sa tigang na lupa ay bubukal ang tubig.

Pada waktu itu mata orang-orang buta akan dicelikkan, dan telinga orang-orang tuli akan dibuka. Pada waktu itu orang lumpuh akan melompat seperti rusa, dan mulut orang bisu akan bersorak-sorai; sebab mata air memancar di padang gurun, dan sungai di padang belantara; tanah pasir yang hangat akan menjadi kolam, dan tanah gersang menjadi sumber-sumber air.

Sebab, jika ada seorang masuk ke dalam kumpulanmu dengan memakai cincin emas dan pakaian indah dan datang juga seorang miskin ke situ dengan memakai pakaian buruk, dan kamu menghormati orang yang berpakaian indah itu dan berkata kepadanya: "Silakan tuan duduk di tempat yang baik ini!", sedang kepada orang yang miskin itu kamu berkata: "Berdirilah di sana!" atau: "Duduklah di lantai ini dekat tumpuan kakiku!", bukankah kamu telah membuat pembedaan di dalam hatimu dan bertindak sebagai hakim dengan pikiran yang jahat? Dengarkanlah, hai saudara-saudara yang kukasihi! Bukankah Allah memilih orang-orang yang dianggap miskin oleh dunia ini untuk menjadi kaya dalam iman dan menjadi ahli waris Kerajaan yang telah dijanjikan-Nya kepada barangsiapa yang mengasihi Dia?

Dan sesudah Yesus memisahkan dia dari orang banyak, sehingga mereka sendirian, Ia memasukkan jari-Nya ke telinga orang itu, lalu Ia meludah dan meraba lidah orang itu. Kemudian sambil menengadah ke langit Yesus menarik nafas dan berkata kepadanya: "Efata!", artinya: Terbukalah! Maka terbukalah telinga orang itu dan seketika itu terlepas pulalah pengikat lidahnya, lalu ia berkata-kata dengan baik. Yesus berpesan kepada orang-orang yang ada di situ supaya jangan menceritakannya kepada siapapun juga. Tetapi makin dilarang-Nya mereka, makin luas mereka memberitakannya. Mereka takjub dan tercengang dan berkata: "Ia menjadikan segala-galanya baik, yang tuli dijadikan-Nya mendengar, yang bisu dijadikan-Nya berkata-kata."

怖がっている人を励ましなさい。「さあ、元気を出しなさい。怖がることはありません。神が敵を滅ぼしに来ます。あなたがたを救いに来ます」と伝えなさい。神が来れば、盲人の目は見えるようになり、耳の聞こえない者の耳は聞こえるようになります。足の不自由な者は鹿のように跳びはね、口のきけなかった者は大声で叫び、歌います。荒野には泉がわき、砂漠には川が流れます。乾いた地は池となり、日照りのために地割れした所から水がわき上がります。
第二読み物（ヤコブ第2章：第1詩–第5詩）
この読み物はヤコブの手紙です。
愛する皆さん。人をえこひいきし、相手が金持ちか貧しいかによって態度を変えていながら、どうして臆面もなく、「私は主イエス・キリストを信じています」などと言えるでしょう。たとえば教会に、金の指輪をはめたりっぱな身なりの金持ちと、みすぼらしい身なりの貧しい人が入って来たとします。その時、金持ちには気を遣い、「こちらの良い席へどうぞ」と言って案内し、貧しい人には、「そこで立っているか、床にでも座っていなさい」と言ったとしたら、どうでしょう。そのような態度は、クリスチャンとしての信仰を根本から疑わせるもので、悪い考えで人を差別し、さばいている証拠です。皆さん、よく聞いてください。神は貧しい人を選んで、豊かな信仰を持つ者としてくださいました。神の国は、そういう人のものです。神の国は、神を愛する者に約束されたものだからです。
