New American Bible readings
First reading (Acts 14: 21–27)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
After Paul and Barnabas had proclaimed the good news to that city and made a considerable number of disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch. They strengthened the spirits of the disciples and exhorted them to persevere in the faith, saying, "It is necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the kingdom of God." They appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, commended them to the Lord in whom they had put their faith. Then they traveled through Pisidia and reached Pamphylia. After proclaiming the word at Perga they went down to Attalia. From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work they had now accomplished. And when they arrived, they called the church together and reported what God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
Second reading (Revelation 21: 1–5a)
A reading from the book of Revelation.
Then I, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, God's dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will always be with them as their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away." The One who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new."
Gospel (John 13: 31–35)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
When Judas had left them, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and God will glorify him at once. My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

They were strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain firm in the faith, for they stated, “We must go through many trials to enter the Kingdom of God.” In each church they appointed elders and, after praying and fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had placed their faith. Then they traveled through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia. They preached the Word in Perga and went down to Attalia. From there they sailed back to Antioch, where they had first been commended to God’s grace for the task they had now completed. On their arrival they gathered the Church together and told them all that God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the non-Jews.
Second reading (Revelation 21: 1–5a)
A reading from the book of Revelation.
Then I, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had passed away and no longer was there any sea. I saw the new Jerusalem, the holy city coming down from God, out of heaven, adorned as a bride prepared for her husband. A loud voice came from the throne, “Here is the dwelling of God among mortals: He will pitch his tent among them and they will be his people; he will be God-with-them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or pain, for the world that was has passed away.” The One seated on the throne stated, “See, I make all things new.”

Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 145) (Verses 8–13)

The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness. The LORD is good to all and compassionate toward all his works.
Let all your works give you thanks, O LORD, and let your faithful ones bless you. Let them discourse of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might.
Let them make known your might to the children of Adam, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is a kingdom for all ages, and your dominion endures through all generations.

Primera lectura (Hechos de los Apóstoles 14: 21–27)

Después de haber evangelizado esta ciudad y haber hechos numerosos discípulos, volvieron a Listra, a Iconio y a Antioquía de Pisidia. Confortaron a sus discípulos y los exhortaron a perseverar en la fe, recordándoles que es necesario pasar por muchas tribulaciones para entrar en el Reino de Dios. En cada comunidad establecieron presbíteros, y con oración y ayuno, los encomendaron al Señor en el que habían creído. Atravesaron Pisidia y llegaron a Panfilia. Luego anunciaron la Palabra en Perge y descendieron a Atalía. Allí se embarcaron para Antioquía, donde habían sido encomendados a la gracia de Dios para realizar la misión que acababa de cumplir. A su llegada, convocaron a los miembros de la Iglesia y les contaron todo lo que Dios había hecho con ellos y cómo había abierto la puerta de la fe a los paganos.
Salmo responsivo (Salmo 145) (Versículos 8–13)

— El Señor es bondadoso y compasivo, lento para enojarse y de gran misericordia. El Señor es bueno con todos y tiene compasión de todas sus criaturas.

Y vi a la Ciudad Santa, la nueva Jerusalén, que bajaba del cielo, de junto a Dios, engalanada como una novia que se adorna para recibir a su esposo. Y oí una voz que clamaba desde el trono: “Esta es la morada de Dios con los hombres; él habitará en medio de ellos; ellos serán su pueblo y él será Dios-con-ellos; él enjugará las lágrimas de sus ojos. Ya no habrá muerte ni lamento, ni llanto ni pena, pues todo lo anterior ha pasado.” Y el que estaba sentado en el trono dijo: “Ahora todo lo hago nuevo.”

Después que Judas salió, Jesús dijo: “Ahora el Hijo del hombre ha sido glorificado y Dios ha sido glorificado en él. Si Dios ha sido glorificado en él, también lo glorificará en sí mismo, y lo hará muy pronto. Hijos míos, ya no estaré mucho tiempo con ustedes. Ustedes me buscarán, pero yo les digo ahora lo mismo que dije a los judíos: “A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden venir.” Les doy un mandamiento nuevo: ámense los unos a los otros. Así como yo los he amado, ámense también ustedes los unos a los otros. En esto todos reconocerán que ustedes son mis discípulos: en el amor que se tengan los unos a los otros.”

Paulus dan Barnabas memberitakan Injil di kota itu dan memperoleh banyak murid. Lalu kembalilah mereka ke Listra, Ikonium dan Antiokhia. Di tempat itu mereka menguatkan hati murid-murid itu dan menasihati mereka supaya mereka bertekun di dalam iman, dan mengatakan, bahwa untuk masuk ke dalam Kerajaan Allah kita harus mengalami banyak sengsara. Di tiap-tiap jemaat rasul-rasul itu menetapkan penatua-penatua bagi jemaat itu dan setelah berdoa dan berpuasa, mereka menyerahkan penatua-penatua itu kepada Tuhan, yang adalah sumber kepercayaan mereka. Mereka menjelajah seluruh Pisidia dan tiba di Pamfilia. Di situ mereka memberitakan firman di Perga, lalu pergi ke Atalia, di pantai. Dari situ berlayarlah mereka ke Antiokhia; di tempat itulah mereka dahulu diserahkan kepada kasih karunia Allah untuk memulai pekerjaan, yang telah mereka selesaikan. Mazmur 145 (Ayat 8–13)

— Tuhan itu pengasih dan penyayang, panjang sabar dan besar kasih setianya. Tuhan itu baik kepada semua orang, dan penuh rahmat terhadap segala yang dijadikannya.

Lalu aku mendengar suara yang nyaring dari takhta itu berkata, "Lihatlah, kemah Allah ada di tengah-tengah manusia dan Ia akan diam bersama-sama dengan mereka. Mereka akan menjadi umatnya dan Ia akan menjadi Allah mereka. Dan Ia akan menghapus segala air mata dari mata mereka, dan maut tidak akan ada lagi; tidak akan ada lagi perkabungan, atau ratap tangis, atau dukacita, sebab segala sesuatu yang lama itu telah berlalu." Kamu akan mencari aku, dan seperti yang telah kukatakan kepada orang-orang Yahudi: Ke tempat aku pergi, tidak mungkin kamu datang, demikian pula aku mengatakannya sekarang juga kepada kamu. そこで福音を語り、多くの人をクリスチャンにしてから、ルステラ、イコニオム、アンテオケへと引き返しました。それぞれの町でクリスチャンたちに会い、ますます神を愛し、また互いに愛し合うように教え、どんな迫害にもくじけず、信仰にとどまり続けるようにと励ましました。そして、「神の国に入るには、いろいろ苦しい目に会わなければならない」と語りました。二人は、どこの教会でも長老を任命し、彼らのために断食して祈り、だれよりも信頼する主にゆだねました。それから、二人はピシデヤを通ってパンフリヤに帰り、また、ペルガでみことばを語ってから、アタリヤに行きました。そして、船でアンテオケに帰って来たのです。この町は、今まさに終えてきたばかりの務めを、神からゆだねられて出発した所でした。二人はさっそく信者たちを集めて伝道旅行の報告をし、神が外国人にも信仰の門を開いてくださったことを話しました。

それから私は、新しい天と新しい地とを見ました。そこには海はありません。今までの天も地も、消え去ってしまいました。また、私ヨハネは、神のもとを出て天から下って来る、聖なる都、新しいエルサレムに目を奪われました。その眺めのすばらしさは、まるで美しく着飾った花嫁のようでした。私は、王座から大声で叫ぶ声を聞きました。「ごらんなさい。神の住まいが人々の間にあります。神は人々と共に住み、人々は神の国民となります。神ご自身が人々の中に住み、その目から涙をぬぐってくださるのです。もはや、死も悲しみも叫びも苦痛もありません。それらはみな、永遠に姿を消したからです。」王座におられる方が宣言されました。「ごらんなさい。わたしはすべてを新しくします。」

ユダが姿を消すとすぐ、イエスが言われました。「時が来ました。神の栄光がわたしの回りに輝き渡るのも、時間の問題です。同時にまた、わたしの身に起こるすべてのことのゆえに、神も大いにほめたたえられるでしょう。神はわたしに、ご自分の栄光を与えてくださるのです。それも、すぐにです。心から愛してやまない子どもたちよ。ああ、もう時間がありません。あなたがたを残して行かなければならないのです……。その時には、いくらわたしを捜しても、わたしのところへ来ることはできません。ユダヤ人の指導者たちにも言っておいたとおりです。そこで今、新しい戒めを与えましょう。わたしがあなたがたを愛するように、互いに愛し合いなさい。互いに心から愛し合うなら、わたしの弟子であることをすべての人が認めるのです。」
