First reading (Proverbs 8: 22–31)
A reading from the book of Proverbs.
Thus says the wisdom of God, “The LORD begot me, the beginning of his works, the forerunner of his deeds of long ago. From of old I was formed, at the first, before the earth. When there were no deeps I was brought forth, when there were no fountains or springs of water. Before the mountains were settled into place, before the hills, I was brought forth; when the earth and the fields were not yet made, nor the first clods of the world. When he established the heavens, there was I, when he marked out the vault over the face of the deep; when he made firm the skies above, when he fixed fast the springs of the deep. When he set for the sea its limit, so that the waters should not transgress his command. When he fixed the foundations of earth, then was I beside him as artisan; I was his delight day by day, playing before him all the while. Playing over the whole of his earth, having my delight with human beings.”
Second reading (Romans 5: 1–5)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope, and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
Gospel (John 16: 12–15)

Second reading (Romans 5: 1–5)

Brothers and sisters: By faith we have received true righteousness, and we are at peace with God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Through him we obtain this favor in which we remain and we even boast to expect the Glory of God. Not only that, we feel secure even in trials, knowing that trials produce patience, from patience comes merit, merit is the source of hope, and hope does not disappoint us because the Holy Spirit has been given to us, pouring into our hearts; the love of God.
Gospel (John 16: 12–15)

El Señor me creó como primicia de sus caminos, antes de sus obras, desde siempre. Yo fui formada desde la eternidad, desde el comienzo, antes de los orígenes de la tierra. Yo nací cuando no existían los abismos, cuando no había fuentes de aguas caudalosas. Antes que fueran cimentadas las montañas, antes que las colinas, yo nací, cuando él no había hecho aún la tierra ni los espacios ni los primeros elementos del mundo. Cuando él afianzaba el cielo, yo estaba allí; cuando trazaba el horizonte sobre el océano, cuando condensaba las nubes en lo alto, cuando infundía poder a las fuentes del océano, cuando fijaba su límite al mar para que las aguas no transgredieran sus bordes, cuando afirmaba los cimientos de la tierra, yo estaba a su lado como un hijo querido y lo deleitaba día tras día, recreándome delante de él en todo tiempo, recreándome sobre la faz de la tierra, y mi delicia era estar con los hijos de los hombres.

TUHAN telah menciptakan aku sebagai permulaan pekerjaan-Nya, sebagai perbuatan-Nya yang pertama-tama dahulu kala. Sudah pada zaman purbakala aku dibentuk, pada mula pertama, sebelum bumi ada. Sebelum air samudera raya ada, aku telah lahir, sebelum ada sumber-sumber yang sarat dengan air. Sebelum gunung-gunung tertanam dan lebih dahulu dari pada bukit-bukit aku telah lahir; sebelum Ia membuat bumi dengan padang-padangnya atau debu dataran yang pertama. Ketika Ia mempersiapkan langit, aku di sana, ketika Ia menggaris kaki langit pada permukaan air samudera raya, ketika Ia menetapkan awan-awan di atas, dan mata air samudera raya meluap dengan deras, ketika Ia menentukan batas kepada laut, supaya air jangan melanggar titah-Nya, dan ketika Ia menetapkan dasar-dasar bumi, aku ada serta-Nya sebagai anak kesayangan, setiap hari aku menjadi kesenangan-Nya, dan senantiasa bermain-main di hadapan-Nya; aku bermain-main di atas muka bumi-Nya dan anak-anak manusia menjadi kesenanganku.

Kita malah bermegah juga dalam kesengsaraan kita, karena kita tahu, bahwa kesengsaraan itu menimbulkan ketekunan, dan ketekunan menimbulkan tahan uji dan tahan uji menimbulkan pengharapan. Dan pengharapan tidak mengecewakan, karena kasih Allah telah dicurahkan di dalam hati kita oleh Roh Kudus yang telah dikaruniakan kepada kita.

Il Signore mi ha creato all'inizio della sua attività, prima di ogni sua opera, fin d'allora. Dall'eternità sono stata costituita, fin dal principio, dagli inizi della terra. Quando non esistevano gli abissi, io fui generata; quando ancora non vi erano le sorgenti cariche d'acqua; prima che fossero fissate le basi dei monti, prima delle colline, io sono stata generata. Quando ancora non aveva fatto la terra e i campi, né le prime zolle del mondo; quando egli fissava i cieli, io ero là; quando tracciava un cerchio sull'abisso; quando condensava le nubi in alto, quando fissava le sorgenti dell'abisso; quando stabiliva al mare i suoi limiti, sicché le acque non ne oltrepassassero la spiaggia; quando disponeva le fondamenta della terra, allora io ero con lui come architetto ed ero la sua delizia ogni giorno, dilettandomi davanti a lui in ogni istante; dilettandomi sul globo terrestre, ponendo le mie delizie tra i figli dell'uomo.
Seconda lettura (Romani 5: 1–5)

Giustificati dunque per la fede, noi siamo in pace con Dio per mezzo del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo; per suo mezzo abbiamo anche ottenuto, mediante la fede, di accedere a questa grazia nella quale ci troviamo e ci vantiamo nella speranza della gloria di Dio. E non soltanto questo: noi ci vantiamo anche nelle tribolazioni, ben sapendo che la tribolazione produce pazienza, la pazienza una virtù provata e la virtù provata la speranza. La speranza poi non delude, perché l'amore di Dio è stato riversato nei nostri cuori per mezzo dello Spirito Santo che ci è stato dato.

Der HERR hat mich geschaffen als Anfang seines Weges, vor seinen Werken in der Urzeit; in frühester Zeit wurde ich gebildet, am Anfang, beim Ursprung der Erde. Als die Urmeere noch nicht waren, wurde ich geboren, als es die Quellen noch nicht gab, die wasserreichen. Ehe die Berge eingesenkt wurden, vor den Hügeln wurde ich geboren. Noch hatte er die Erde nicht gemacht und die Flurenund alle Schollen des Festlands. Als er den Himmel baute, war ich dabei, als er den Erdkreis abmaß über den Wassern, als er droben die Wolken befestigte und Quellen strömen ließ aus dem Urmeer, als er dem Meer sein Gesetz gab und die Wasser nicht seinen Befehl übertreten durften, als er die Fundamente der Erde abmaß, da war ich als geliebtes Kind bei ihm. Ich war seine Freude Tag für Tag und spielte vor ihm allezeit. Ich spielte auf seinem Erdenrund und meine Freude war es, bei den Menschen zu sein.

Gerecht gemacht also aus Glauben, haben wir Frieden mit Gott durch Jesus Christus, unseren Herrn. Mehr noch, wir rühmen uns ebenso der Bedrängnisse; denn wir wissen: Bedrängnis bewirkt Geduld, Geduld aber Bewährung, Bewährung Hoffnung. Die Hoffnung aber lässt nicht zugrunde gehen; denn die Liebe Gottes ist ausgegossen in unsere Herzen durch den Heiligen Geist, der uns gegeben ist.

Ehe die Berge eingesenkt wurden, vor den Hügeln war ich geboren, als er noch nicht gemacht die Erde und die Fluren, noch die Gesamtheit der Erdschollen des Festlandes. Als er den Himmel feststellte, war ich dabei. Als er einen Kreis abmaß über der Fläche der Tiefe, als er die Wolken droben befestigte, als er stark machte die Quellen der Tiefe, als er dem Meer seine Schranke setzte, damit das Wasser seinen Befehl nicht übertrat, als er die Grundfesten der Erde abmaß: da war ich Schoßkind bei ihm und war ⟨seine⟩ Wonne Tag für Tag, spielend vor ihm allezeit, spielend auf dem ⟨weiten⟩ Rund seiner Erde, und ich hatte meine Wonne an den Menschenkindern.
Zweite Lesung (Römer 5: 1–5)

Da wir nun gerechtfertigt worden sind aus Glauben, so haben wir Frieden mit Gott durch unseren Herrn Jesus Christus, durch den wir im Glauben auch Zugang erhalten haben zu dieser Gnade, in der wir stehen, und rühmen uns aufgrund der Hoffnung der Herrlichkeit Gottes. Nicht allein aber das, sondern wir rühmen uns auch in den Bedrängnissen, da wir wissen, dass die Bedrängnis Ausharren bewirkt, das Ausharren aber Bewährung, die Bewährung aber Hoffnung; die Hoffnung aber lässt nicht zuschanden werden, denn die Liebe Gottes ist ausgegossen in unsere Herzen durch den Heiligen Geist, der uns gegeben worden ist.
Evangelium (Johannes 16: 12–15)

Noch vieles habe ich euch zu sagen, aber ihr könnt es jetzt nicht tragen. Wenn aber jener, der Geist der Wahrheit, gekommen ist, wird er euch in die ganze Wahrheit leiten; denn er wird nicht aus sich selbst reden, sondern was er hören wird, wird er reden, und das Kommende wird er euch verkündigen. Er wird mich verherrlichen, denn von dem Meinen wird er nehmen und euch verkündigen. Alles, was der Vater hat, ist mein; darum sagte ich, dass er von dem Meinen nimmt und euch verkündigen wird.
