First Reading (Genesis 12: 1–4a)
A reading from the book of Genesis.
The Lord stated to Abram, "Leave your country, your family and your father's house, for the land I will show you. I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse, and in you all peoples of the earth will be blessed." So Abram went as the Lord had told him.
Second Reading (2 Timothy 1: 8b–10)
A reading from the second letter of Saint Paul to Timothy.
Beloved: Do your share in laboring for the Gospel with the strength of God. He saved us and called us — a calling which proceeds from his holiness. This did not depend on our merits, but on his generosity and his own initiative. This calling given to us from all time in Christ Jesus has just been manifested with the glorious appearance of Christ Jesus, our Lord, who destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light in his Gospel.
Gospel (Matthew 17: 1–9)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew.
Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain where they were alone. Jesus' appearance was changed before them: his face shone like the sun and his clothes become bright as light. Just then Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Jesus. Peter spoke and stated to Jesus, "Master, it is good that we are here. If you so wish, I will make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." Peter was still speaking when a bright cloud covered them in its shadow, and a voice from the cloud stated, "This is my Son, the Beloved, my Chosen One. Listen to him." On hearing the voice, the disciples fell to the ground, full of fear. But Jesus came, touched them and stated, "Stand up, do not be afraid." When they raised their eyes, they no longer saw anyone except Jesus. And as they came down the mountain, Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone what they had just seen, until the Son of Man be raised from the dead.

In the season of Lent, the Gloria is omitted.

ReplyDeleteThe response is: Lord, let your mercy be on us as we place our trust in you.
For upright is the Lord's word and worthy of trust is his work. The Lord loves justice and righteousness; the earth is full of his kindness.
But the Lord's eyes are upon those who fear him, upon those who trust in his loving-kindness to deliver them from death and preserve them from famine.
In hope we wait for the lord, for he is our help and our shield. O Lord, let your love rest upon us, even as our hope rests in you.
This is the Kyrie for the 2nd Sunday of Lent.

This is the Opening Prayer for the 2nd Sunday of Lent.
ReplyDeleteLet us pray. God our Father, help us to hear your Son. Enlighten us with your word, that we may find the way to your glory. We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
Lord, make us holy. May this eucharist take away our sins that we may be prepared to celebrate the resurrection. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.
ReplyDeleteFather, all-powerful and ever-living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord. On your holy mountain he revealed himself in glory in the presence of his disciples. He had already prepared them for his approaching death. He wanted to teach them through the Law and the Prophets that the promised Christ has first to suffer and so come to the glory of his resurrection. In our unending joy we echo on earth the song of the angels in heaven as they praise your glory forever. (After this, you sing the Sanctus.)

Yahvé dijo a Abram: “Deja tu país, a los de tu raza y a la familia de tu padre, y anda a la tierra que yo te mostraré. Haré de ti una gran nación y te bendeciré; voy a engrandecer tu nombre, y tú serás una bendición. Bendeciré a quienes te bendigan y maldeciré a quienes te maldigan. En ti serán bendecidas todas las razas de la tierra.” Partió Abram, tal como se lo había dicho Yahvé.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 33) (Versículos 4–5, 18–20 y 22)
La respuesta es: Señor, ten misericordia con nosotros mientras confiamos en ti.
• Porque la palabra del Señor es recta y él obra siempre con lealtad; él ama la justicia y el derecho, y la tierra está llena de su amor.
• Los ojos del Señor están fijos sobre sus fieles, sobre los que esperan en su misericordia, para librar sus vidas de la muerte y sustentarlos en el tiempo de indigencia.

Comparte conmigo los sufrimientos que es necesario padecer por Evangelio, animado con la fortaleza de Dios. Él nos salvó y nos eligió con su santo llamado, no por nuestras obras, sino por su propia iniciativa y por la gracia: esa gracia que nos concedió en Cristo Jesús, desde toda la eternidad, y que ahora se ha revelado en la Manifestación de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo. Porque él destruyó la muerte e hizo brillar la vida incorruptible, mediante la Buena Noticia.
Evangelio (Mateo 17: 1–9)

Seis días después, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Santiago y a su hermano Juan, y los llevó aparte a un monte alto. A la vista de ellos su aspecto cambió completamente: su cara brillaba como el sol y su ropa se volvió blanca como la luz. En seguida vieron a Moisés y Elías hablando con Jesús. Pedro tomó la palabra y dijo a Jesús: “Señor, ¡qué bueno es que estemos aquí! Si quieres, levantaré aquí tres tiendas: una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías.” Estaba Pedro todavía hablando cuando una nube luminosa los cubrió con su sombra y una voz que salía de la nube dijo: “¡Este es mi Hijo, el Amado; éste es mi Elegido, escúchenlo!” Al oír esto, los discípulos cayeron con el rostro en tierra, llenos de temor Jesús se acercó a ellos, y tocándolos, les dijo: “Levántense, no tengan miedo.” Ellos levantaron los ojos, pero ya no vieron a nadie más que a Jesús. Mientras bajaban del monte, Jesús les ordenó: “No hablen a nadie de esta visión, hasta que el Hijo del hombre resucite de entre los muertos.”

Dialah yang menyelamatkan kita dan memanggil kita dengan panggilan kudus, bukan berdasarkan perbuatan kita, melainkan berdasarkan maksud dan kasih karunia-Nya sendiri, yang telah dikaruniakan kepada kita dalam Kristus Yesus sebelum permulaan zaman dan yang sekarang dinyatakan oleh kedatangan Juruselamat kita Yesus Kristus, yang oleh Injil telah mematahkan kuasa maut dan mendatangkan hidup yang tidak dapat binasa.
Bacaan Injil (Matius 17: 1–9)
Enam hari kemudian Yesus membawa Petrus, Yakobus dan Yohanes saudaranya, dan bersama-sama dengan mereka Ia naik ke sebuah gunung yang tinggi. Di situ mereka sendiri saja. Lalu Yesus berubah rupa di depan mata mereka; wajah-Nya bercahaya seperti matahari dan pakaian-Nya menjadi putih bersinar seperti terang. Maka nampak kepada mereka Musa dan Elia sedang berbicara dengan Dia. Kata Petrus kepada Yesus: "Tuhan, betapa bahagianya kami berada di tempat ini. Jika Engkau mau, biarlah kudirikan di sini tiga kemah, satu untuk Engkau, satu untuk Musa dan satu untuk Elia." Dan tiba-tiba sedang ia berkata-kata turunlah awan yang terang menaungi mereka dan dari dalam awan itu terdengar suara yang berkata: "Inilah Anak yang Kukasihi, kepada-Nyalah Aku berkenan, dengarkanlah Dia." Mendengar itu tersungkurlah murid-murid-Nya dan mereka sangat ketakutan. Lalu Yesus datang kepada mereka dan menyentuh mereka sambil berkata: "Berdirilah, jangan takut!" Dan ketika mereka mengangkat kepala, mereka tidak melihat seorangpun kecuali Yesus seorang diri. Pada waktu mereka turun dari gunung itu, Yesus berpesan kepada mereka: "Jangan kamu ceriterakan penglihatan itu kepada seorangpun sebelum Anak Manusia dibangkitkan dari antara orang mati."
