First Reading (Joel 3: 1–5)
A reading from the book of the prophet Joel.
In the last days, I will pour out my Spirit on every mortal. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even upon my servants and maidens, I will pour out my Spirit on that day. I will show wonders in the heavens, and on earth blood and fire and columns of smoke. The sun will darken and the moon turn to blood at the approach of the great and dreadful day of God. Then all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. For on Mount Zion there will be a remnant, as the Lord has stated; in Jerusalem some will be saved — those whom the Lord will call.
Second Reading (Romans 8: 22–27)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.
Brothers and sisters: We know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pangs of birth. Not creation alone, but even ourselves, although the Spirit was given to us as a foretaste of what we are to receive, we groan in our innermost being, eagerly awaiting the day when God will give us full rights and rescue our bodies as well. To hope is the way we are saved. But if we saw what we hoped for, there would be no longer be hope: how can you hope for what is already seen? So we hope for what we do not see and we will receive it through patient hope. We are weak, but the Spirit comes to help us. How to ask? And what shall we ask for? We do not know, but the spirit intercedes for us without words, as if with groans. And he who sees inner secrets knows the desires of the Spirit, for he asks for the holy ones what is pleasing to God.
Gospel (John 7: 37–39)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, "Let anyone who is thirsty, come to me; and let the one who believes in me drink, for the Scripture states: Out of him shall flow rivers of living water." Jesus was referring to the Spirit which those who believe in him were to receive; the Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet entered into his Glory.
Interestingly, Pentecost Vigil does not include the Sequence.

They all look to you for their food in due time. You give it to them, and they gather it up; you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
When you hide your face they vanish, you take away their breath, they expire and return to dust. When you send forth your spirit, they are created, and the face of the earth is renewed.
In our life, is there a place for the Holy Spirit? Do we listen to his inspiration? Let us examine ourselves before the Lord.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

ReplyDeleteThis day the Father of light has enlightened the minds of the disciples by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. May he bless you and give you the gifts of the Spirit forever. Amen.
May that fire which hovered over the disciples as tongues of flame burn out all evil from your hearts and make them glow with pure light. Amen.
God inspired speech in different tongues to proclaim one faith. May he strengthen your faith and fulfill your hope to see him face to face. Amen.
May almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

ReplyDeleteAnuncio especial. Tristemente una capilla más lejos de aquí se ha sufrido gravemente. Se construyó en 1992, la capilla se ha usado por diez años. Desafortunadamente, los materiales antiguos empezó a deteriorar. Las termitas se come la madera, y la estructura empieza a caer. El sacerdote allí ha recibido un permiso de la archidiócesis de Yakarta para reconstruir la capilla. Hay discos compactos de música disponible afuera de la iglesia. Abre tus corazones y ayudarle a construir una nueva capilla.

Después de esto, yo derramaré mi espíritu sobre todos los hombres: sus hijos y sus hijas profetizarán, sus ancianos tendrán sueños proféticos y sus jóvenes verán visiones. También sobre los esclavos y las esclavas derramaré mi espíritu en aquellos días. Haré prodigios en el cielo y en la tierra: sangre, fuego y columnas de humo. El sol se convertirán en tinieblas y la luna en sangre, antes que llegue el Día del Señor, día grande y terrible. Entonces, todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor se salvará, porque sobre el monte Sion y en Jerusalén se encontrará refugio, como lo ha dicho el Señor, y entre los sobrevivientes estarán los que llame el Señor.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 104) (Versículos 1–2ª, 24 y 27–30)
La respuesta es: Señor, envía tu espíritu, y renueva la superficie de la tierra.
• ¡Bendeciré al Señor con toda mi alma! ¡Cuán grande eres, Señor y Dios mío! Te has vestido de gloria y esplendor; te has envuelto en un manto de luz.
• ¡Cuántas cosas has hecho, Señor! Todas las hiciste con sabiduría; ¡la tierra está llena de todo lo que has creado!
• Todos ellos esperan de ti que les des su comida a su tiempo. Tú les das, y ellos recogen; abres la mano, y se llenan de lo mejor.
• Si escondes tu rostro, se espantan; si les quitas el aliento, mueren y vuelven a ser polvo. Pero si envías tu aliento de vida, son creados, y así renuevas el aspecto de la tierra.
Segunda Lectura (Romanos 8: 22–27)
Una lectura de la carta de San Pablo a los romanos.
Sabemos que hasta ahora la creación se queja y sufre como una mujer con dolores de parto. Y no solo sufre la creación, sino también nosotros que ya tenemos el Espíritu como anticipo de lo que hemos de recibir. Sufrimos intensamente esperando el momento en que Dios nos adopte como hijos, con lo cual serán liberados nuestros cuerpos. Y en esa esperanza hemos sido salvados. Ahora bien, si lo que se espera está ya a la vista, entonces no es esperanza, porque ¿a qué esperar lo que ya se está viendo? Pero si lo que esperamos es algo que aún no vemos, con constancia hemos de esperarlo. De igual manera, el Espíritu nos ayuda en nuestra debilidad. Porque no sabemos orar como es debido, pero el Espíritu mismo ruega a Dios por nosotros con gemidos que no pueden expresarse con palabras. Y Dios, que examina los corazones, sabe qué quiere decir el Espíritu, porque el Espíritu ruega conforme a la voluntad de Dios por los del pueblo santo.
Evangelio (Juan 7: 37–39)
Una lectura del Evangelio Santo según el San Juan.
El último día de la fiesta, que era el más importante, Jesús, puesto en pie, dijo con voz fuerte: “¡El que tenga sed, venga a mí; el que cree en mí, que beba! Como dice la Escritura, de su interior brotarán ríos de agua viva.” Con esto quería decir Jesús que quienes creyesen en él recibirían el Espíritu. Y es que el Espíritu todavía no había venido, porque Jesús aún no había sido glorificado.
