First Reading (Exodus 17: 8-13)
A reading from the book of Exodus.
When the Israelites were at Rephidim, the Amalekites came and attacked them. So Moses stated to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites in the morning. As for me, I will stand with God's staff in my hand at the top of the hill." Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had directed, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of the hill. It happened that when Moses raised his hands, the Israelites would win but when he lowered them, the Amalekites would have the advantage. As Moses' arms grew weary they placed a stone for him to sit on while Aaron and Hur on either side held up his arms which remained steadily until sunset. For his part Joshua mowed down Amalek and his people with the sword.
Second Reading (2 Timothy 3:14 – 4:2)
A reading from the second letter of Saint Paul to Timothy.
Beloved: Continue with what you have learned and what has been entrusted to you, knowing from whom you received it. Besides, you have known the Scriptures from childhood; they will give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, refuting error, for correcting and training in Christian life. Through Scripture the man of God is made expert and thoroughly equipped for every good work. In the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by the hope I have of his coming and his kingdom, I urge you to preach the Word, in season and out of season, reproving, rebuking or advising, always with patience and providing instruction.

Jesus told them a parable to show them that they should pray continually and not lose heart. He stated, "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor people. In the same town was a widow who kept coming to him, stating, 'Defend my rights against my opponent.' For a time he refused, but finally he thought: 'Even though I neither fear God nor care about people, this widow bothers me so much I will see that she gets justice; then she will stop coming and wearing me out." And Jesus explained, "Listen to what the evil judge says. Will God not do justice for his chosen ones who cry to him day and night even if he delays in answering them? I tell you, he will speedily do them justice. Yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?

I lift up my eyes to the mountains — from where shall come my help? My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.
Will he let your foot slip, the one watching over you? Will he slumber? No, the guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.
The Lord is your guardian, the Lord is at your side and you in his shade; sunstroke will not be for you by day, nor the spell of the moon by night.
The Lord guards you from every evil; he will protect your life. The Lord watches over your coming and going both now forever.

En Refidim los amalecitas vinieron a atacar a Israel. Moisés dijo a Josué: “Elígete algunos hombres y marcha a pelear contra los amalecitas. Yo, por mi parte, estaré mañana en lo alto de la loma, con el bastón de Dios en mi mano.” Josué hizo como se lo ordenaba Moisés, y salió a pelear contra los amalecitas. Mientras tanto, Moisés, Aarón y Jur subieron a la cima de la loma. Y sucedió que mientras Moisés tenía las manos arriba, se imponía Israel, pero cuando las bajaba, se imponían los amalecitas. Se le cansaron los brazos a Moisés; entonces tomaron una piedra y sentaron a Moisés sobre ella, mientras Aarón y Jur le sostenían los brazos, uno a cada lado. Así, Moisés mantuvo sus brazos alzados hasta la puesta del sol y Josué le mató mucha, mucha gente a Amalec.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 121) (Versículos 1–8)
La respuesta es: Nuestro auxilio viene del Señor, que hizo el cielo y la tierra.
• Levanto mis ojos a las montañas: ¿de dónde me vendrá la ayuda? La ayuda me viene del Señor, que hizo el cielo y la tierra.
• Él no dejará que resbale tu pie: ¡tu guardián no duerme! No, no duerme ni dormita el guardián de Israel.
• El Señor es tu guardián, es la sombra protectora a tu derecha: de día, no te dañará el sol, ni la luna de noche.

Pero tú permanece fiel a la doctrina que aprendiste y de la que estás plenamente convencido: tú sabes de quiénes la has recibido. Recuerda que desde la niñez conoces las Sagradas Escrituras: ellas pueden darte la sabiduría que conduce a la salvación, mediante la fe en Cristo Jesús. Toda la Escritura está inspirada por Dios, y es útil para enseñar y para argüir, para corregir y para educar en la justicia, a fin de que el hombre de Dios sea perfecto y esté preparado para hacer siempre el bien. Yo te conjuro delante de Dios y de Cristo Jesús, que ha de juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos, y en nombre de su Manifestación y de su Reino: proclama la Palabra de Dios, insiste con ocasión o sin ella, arguye, reprende, exhorta, con paciencia incansable y con afán de enseñar.

Después le enseñó con una parábola que era necesario orar siempre sin desanimarse: “En una ciudad había un juez que no temía a Dios ni le importaban los hombres; y en la misma ciudad vivía una viuda que recurría a él, diciéndole: ‘Te ruego que me hagas justicia contra mi adversario.’ Durante mucho tiempo el juez se negó, pero después dijo: ‘Yo no temo a Dios ni me importan los hombres, pero como esta viuda me molesta, le haré justicia para que no venga continuamente a fastidiarme.’” Y el Señor dijo: “Oigan lo que dijo este juez injusto. Y Dios, ¿no hará justicia a sus elegidos, que claman a él día y noche, aunque los haga esperar? Les aseguro que en un abrir y cerrar de ojos les hará justicia. Pero cuando venga el Hijo del hombre, ¿encontrará fe sobre la tierra?”

Maka penatlah tangan Musa, sebab itu mereka mengambil sebuah batu, diletakkanlah di bawahnya, supaya ia duduk di atasnya; Harun dan Hur menopang kedua belah tangannya, seorang di sisi yang satu, seorang di sisi yang lain, sehingga tangannya tidak bergerak sampai matahari terbenam. This eucharist has been for us a strong reminder that persevering, trusting prayer must necessarily be a prayer of concern for the weak and the poor, and that concern must express itself in bringing them justice. May the Lord give you this strength and blessing you: the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Mass has ended, and you are sent. Therefore, go in peace of the Lord and put our trust in God's justice. Thanks be to God.
