First Reading (Isaiah 58: 7–10)
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.
Fast by sharing your food with the hungry, bring to your house the homeless, clothe the one you see naked and do not turn away from your own kin. Then will your light will break forth as the dawn and your healing come in a flash. Your righteousness will be your vanguard, the Glory of the Lord you rearguard. Then you will call and the Lord will answer, you will cry and he will say, 'I am here.' If you removed from your midst the yoke, the clenched fist and the wicked word, if you share your food with the hungry and give relief to the oppressed, then your light will rise in the dark, your night will be like noon.
Second Reading (1 Corinthians 2: 1–5)
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.
Brothers and sisters: When I came to reveal to you the mystery of God's plan I did not count on eloquence or on a show of learning. I was determined not to know anything among you but Jesus, the Messiah, and a crucified Messiah. I myself came weak, fearful and trembling; my words and preaching were not brilliant or clever to win listeners. It was, rather, a demonstration of spirit and power, so that your faith might be a matter, not of human wisdom, but of God's power.
Gospel (Matthew 5: 13–16)

Jesus continued to teach the crowd while his disciples gathered around him. Jesus stated: "You are the salt of the earth. But if salt has lost its strength, how can it be made salty again? It has become useless. It can only be thrown away and people will trample on it. You are the light of the world. A city built on a mountain cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and covers it; instead, it is put on a lampstand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, your light must shine before others, so that they may see the good you do and praise your Father in heaven."

He is for the righteous a light in darkness, he is kind, merciful and upright. It will be well with him who lends freely, who leads a life of justice and honesty.
For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered and love forever. He has no fear of evil news, for his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is confident, he needs not fear, he shall prevail over his foes at the end. He gives generously to the poor, his merits will last forever and his head will be raised in honor.

Compartirás tu pan con el hambriento, los pobres sin techo entrarán a tu casa, vestirás al que veas desnudo y no volverás la espalda a tu hermano. Entonces tu luz surgirá como la aurora y tus heridas sanarán rápidamente. Tu recto obrar marchará delante de ti y la Gloria de Yahvé te seguirá por detrás. Entonces, si llamas a Yahvé, responderá. Cuando lo llames, dirá: “Aquí estoy.” Si en tu casa no hay más gente explotada, si apartas el gesto amenazante y las palabras perversas; si das al hambriento lo que de seas para ti y sacias al hombre oprimido, brillará tu luz en las tinieblas, y tu oscuridad se volverá como la claridad del mediodía.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 112) (Versículos 4–9)
La respuesta es: El hombre justo es luz en la oscuridad a los derechos.
• Para los buenos brilla una luz en las tinieblas: es el Bondadoso, el Compasivo y el Justo. Dichoso el que se compadece y da prestado, y administra sus negocios con rectitud.
• El justo no vacilará jamás, su recuerdo permanecerá para siempre. No tendrá que temer malas noticias: su corazón está firme, confiado en el Señor.
• Su ánimo está seguro, y no temerá, hasta que vea la derrota de sus enemigos. Él da abundantemente a los pobres: su generosidad permanecerá para siempre, y alzará su frente con dignidad.
Segunda Lectura (1 Corintios 2: 1–5)

Por mi parte, hermanos, cuando los visité para anunciarles el misterio de Dios, no llegué con el prestigio de la elocuencia o de la sabiduría. Al contrario, no quise saber nada, fuera de Jesucristo, y Jesucristo crucificado. Por eso, me presenté ante ustedes débil, temeroso y vacilante. Mi palabra y mi predicación no tenían nada de la argumentación persuasiva de la sabiduría humana, sino que eran demostración del poder del Espíritu, para que ustedes no basaran su fe en la sabiduría de los hombres, sino en el poder de Dios.
Evangelio (Mateo 5: 13–16)

Jesús le enseña a la multitud, “Ustedes son la sal de la tierra. Pero si la sal se vuelve insípida, ¿cómo podrá ser salada de nuevo? Ya no sirve para nada, por lo que se tira afuera y es pisoteada por la gente. Ustedes son la luz del mundo: ¿cómo se puede esconder una ciudad asentada sobre un monte? Nadie enciende una lámpara para taparla con un cajón; la ponen más bien sobre un candelero, y alumbra a todos los que están en la casa. Hagan, pues, que brille su luz ante los hombres; que vean estas buenas obras, y por ello den gloria al Padre de ustedes que está en los Cielos.”

Kung magkagayon, sisikat ang liwanag sa inyo, at matutulad kayo sa bukang-liwayway, hindi magtatagal at manunumbalik ang inyong kalusugan.
