The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners, to announce a year of favor from the LORD and a day of vindication by our God, to comfort all who mourn; to place on those who mourn in Zion a diadem instead of ashes, to give them oil of gladness in place of mourning, a glorious mantle instead of a listless spirit. You yourselves shall be named priests of the LORD, ministers of our God shall you be called. I will give them their recompense faithfully, a lasting covenant I will make with them. The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, "This month shall stand at the head of your calendar; you shall reckon it the first month of the year. Tell the whole community of Israel: On the tenth of this month every one of your families must procure for itself a lamb, one apiece for each household. If a family is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join the nearest household in procuring one and shall share in the lamb in proportion to the number of persons who partake of it. The lamb must be a year-old male and without blemish. You may take it from either the sheep or the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, and then, with the whole assembly of Israel present, it shall be slaughtered during the evening twilight. They shall take some of its blood and apply it to the two doorposts and the lintel of every house in which they partake of the lamb. That same night they shall eat its roasted flesh with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. "This is how you are to eat it: with your loins girt, sandals on your feet and your staff in hand, you shall eat like those who are in flight. It is the Passover of the LORD. For on this same night I will go through Egypt, striking down every firstborn of the land, both man and beast, and executing judgment on all the gods of Egypt—I, the LORD! But the blood will mark the houses where you are. Seeing the blood, I will pass over you; thus, when I strike the land of Egypt, no destructive blow will come upon you. "This day shall be a memorial feast for you, which all your generations shall celebrate with pilgrimage to the LORD, as a perpetual institution."
Second reading (1 Corinthians 11: 23–26)

Brothers and sisters: I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.

Before the feast of Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father. He loved his own in the world and he loved them to the end. The devil had already induced Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot, to hand him over. So, during supper, fully aware that the Father had put everything into his power and that he had come from God and was returning to God, he rose from supper and took off his outer garments. He took a towel and tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and dry them with the towel around his waist. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Master, are you going to wash my feet?" Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later." Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me." Simon Peter said to him, "Master, then not only my feet, but my hands and head as well." Jesus said to him, "Whoever has bathed has no need except to have his feet washed, for he is clean all over; so you are clean, but not all." For he knew who would betray him; for this reason, he said, "Not all of you are clean." So when he had washed their feet and put his garments back on and reclined at table again, he said to them, "Do you realize what I have done for you? You call me 'teacher' and 'master,' and rightly so, for indeed I am. If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do."

That night, you will eat the flesh roasted at the fire with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. And this is how you will eat: with a belt around your waist, sandals on your feet and a staff in your hand. You shall eat hastily for it is a passover in honor of the Lord. On that night I shall go through Egypt and strike every firstborn in Egypt, men and animals; and I will even bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt; I, the Lord! The blood on your houses will be the sign that you are there. I will see the blood and pass over you; and you will escape the mortal plague when I strike Egypt. This is a day you are to remember and celebrate in honor of the Lord. It is to be kept as a festival day for all generations forever."

Para publicar un año feliz lleno de los favores de Yahvé, y el día del desquite de nuestro Dios. Me envió para consolar a los que lloran y darles (a todos los afligidos de Sion) una corona en vez de ceniza, el aceite de los días alegres, en lugar de ropa de luto, cantos de felicidad, en vez de pesimismo. Él me envió a llevar la Buena Noticia a los pobres, a anunciar la liberación a los cautivos y la vista a los ciegos, a dar la libertad a los oprimidos y proclamar un año de gracia del Señor.’ Jesús cerró el Libro, lo devolvió al ayudante y se sentó. Todos en la sinagoga tenían los ojos fijos en él. Entonces comenzó a decirles: “Hoy se ha cumplido este pasaje de la Escritura que acaban de oír.”

Luego echó agua en un recipiente y empezó a lavar los pies a los discípulos y a secárselos con la toalla que tenía en la cintura. なぜなら、以前あなたがたに伝えたとおり、聖餐式について、主ご自身がこう言われたからです。すなわち、ユダが主イエスを裏切った日の夜、主イエスはパンを取り、神に感謝の祈りをささげてから、ちぎって弟子たちに与え、こう言われました。「取って食べなさい。これは、あなたがたのために裂かれる、わたしの体です。わたしを思い出すために、このようにして食べなさい。」夕食の後、同じように杯を取って言われました。「この杯は、神とあなたがたとの間の新しい契約です。この契約は、わたしの血によって立てられ、効力を発します。これを飲むたびに、わたしを思い出すため、このようにしなさい。」ですから、あなたがたは、このパンを食べ、杯を飲むたびに、「主は私たちのために死んでくださった」という主の死の意味を、くり返し告白するわけです。主が再び来られる時まで続けなさい。

過越の祭りの前に、イエスは、いよいよこの世を去って父のもとに帰る最後の時が来たことを知り、弟子たちに対する愛を余すところなく示されました。夕食の間のことです。悪魔はすでに、シモンの子イスカリオテのユダに、「今夜こそ、かねてからの計画を実行に移す絶好の時だ」という思いを吹き込んでいました。イエスは、父がすべてのものを与えてくださったことと、自分が神のもとから来て、また神のもとに帰ろうとしていることを知り、夕食の席からゆっくり立ち上がり、上着を脱ぎ、手ぬぐいを取って腰に巻かれました。そしてたらいに水を入れ、弟子たち一人一人の足を洗い、腰の手ぬぐいでふき始められたのです。シモン・ペテロの番になりました。ペテロは言いました。「主よ。足を洗っていただくなど、もったいなくてとてもできません。」イエスは言われました。「なぜこんなことをするのか、今はわからないでしょう。だが、あとでわかるようになります。」「いいえ。どうかもう、おやめください」とペテロは言いはります。「もしわたしが足を洗わなければ、あなたはわたしの仲間にはなれません」とイエスは答えられました。するとペテロはあわてて、「そ、それなら、足だけとおっしゃらず、手も、それに頭も洗ってください」と言いました。「水浴した者は、足だけ洗えば全身がきよくなります。今あなたがたはきよいのですが、みながみな、きよいというわけではありません。」イエスはだれが裏切り者かわかっていたので、「みながみな、きよいわけではない」と言われたのです。イエスは弟子たちの足を洗い終えると、また上着を着て席に戻り、改めてお尋ねになりました。「わたしのしたことがわかりますか。あなたがたはわたしを『先生』とも『主』とも呼んでいます。それはかまいません。そのとおりなのですから。その、主でも先生でもあるわたしが足を洗ってあげたのですから、あなたがたも互いに足を洗い合いなさい。わたしは模範を示したのです。わたしがしたとおりに、あなたがたもしなさい。
第一読み物（出エジプト記第12章：第1詩–第8詩と第11詩–第14詩）

エジプトの国で、主はモーセとアロンに言われた。「この月をあなたたちの正月とし、年の初めの月としなさい。イスラエルの共同体全体に次のように告げなさい。『今月の十日、人はそれぞれ父の家ごとに、すなわち家族ごとに小羊を一匹用意しなければならない。もし、家族が少人数で小羊一匹を食べきれない場合には、隣の家族と共に、人数に見合うものを用意し、めいめいの食べる量に見合う小羊を選ばねばならない。その小羊は、傷のない一歳の雄でなければならない。用意するのは羊でも山羊でもよい。それは、この月の十四日まで取り分けておき、イスラエルの共同体の会衆が皆で夕暮れにそれを屠り、その血を取って、小羊を食べる家の入り口の二本の柱と鴨居に塗る。そしてその夜、肉を火で焼いて食べる。また、酵母を入れないパンを苦菜を添えて食べる。それを食べるときは、腰帯を締め、靴を履き、杖を手にし、急いで食べる。これが主の過越である。その夜、わたしはエジプトの国を巡り、人であれ、家畜であれ、エジプトの国のすべての初子を撃つ。また、エジプトのすべての神々に裁きを行う。わたしは主である。あなたたちのいる家に塗った血は、あなたたちのしるしとなる。血を見たならば、わたしはあなたたちを過ぎ越す。わたしがエジプトの国を撃つとき、滅ぼす者の災いはあなたたちに及ばない。この日は、あなたたちにとって記念すべき日となる。あなたたちは、この日を主の祭りとして祝い、代々にわたって守るべき不変の定めとして祝わねばならない。
第二読み物（コリントの信徒への手紙一第11章：第23詩–第26詩）
この読み物はコリントの信徒への手紙一です。
わたしがあなたがたに伝えたことは、わたし自身、主から受けたものです。すなわち、主イエスは、引き渡される夜、パンを取り、感謝の祈りをささげてそれを裂き、「これは、あなたがたのためのわたしの体である。わたしの記念としてこのように行いなさい」と言われました。また、食事の後で、杯も同じようにして、「この杯は、わたしの血によって立てられる新しい契約である。飲む度に、わたしの記念としてこのように行いなさい」と言われました。だから、あなたがたは、このパンを食べこの杯を飲むごとに、主が来られるときまで、主の死を告げ知らせるのです。

さて、過越祭の前のことである。イエスは、この世から父のもとへ移る御自分の時が来たことを悟り、世にいる弟子たちを愛して、この上なく愛し抜かれた。夕食のときであった。既に悪魔は、イスカリオテのシモンの子ユダに、イエスを裏切る考えを抱かせていた。イエスは、父がすべてを御自分の手にゆだねられたこと、また、御自分が神のもとから来て、神のもとに帰ろうとしていることを悟り、食事の席から立ち上がって上着を脱ぎ、手ぬぐいを取って腰にまとわれた。それから、たらいに水をくんで弟子たちの足を洗い、腰にまとった手ぬぐいでふき始められた。シモン・ペトロのところに来ると、ペトロは、「主よ、あなたがわたしの足を洗ってくださるのですか」と言った。イエスは答えて、「わたしのしていることは、今あなたには分かるまいが、後で、分かるようになる」と言われた。ペトロが、「わたしの足など、決して洗わないでください」と言うと、イエスは、「もしわたしがあなたを洗わないなら、あなたはわたしと何のかかわりもないことになる」と答えられた。そこでシモン・ペトロが言った。「主よ、足だけでなく、手も頭も。」イエスは言われた。「既に体を洗った者は、全身清いのだから、足だけ洗えばよい。あなたがたは清いのだが、皆が清いわけではない。」イエスは、御自分を裏切ろうとしている者がだれであるかを知っておられた。それで、「皆が清いわけではない」と言われたのである。さて、イエスは、弟子たちの足を洗ってしまうと、上着を着て、再び席に着いて言われた。「わたしがあなたがたにしたことが分かるか。あなたがたは、わたしを『先生』とか『主』とか呼ぶ。そのように言うのは正しい。わたしはそうである。ところで、主であり、師であるわたしがあなたがたの足を洗ったのだから、あなたがたも互いに足を洗い合わなければならない。わたしがあなたがたにしたとおりに、あなたがたもするようにと、模範を示したのである。
