First reading (Wisdom 12: 13 and 16–19)
A reading from the book of Wisdom.
There is no god besides you who have the care of all, that you need show you have not unjustly condemned. For your might is the source of justice; your mastery over all things makes you lenient to all. For you show your might when the perfection of your power is disbelieved; and in those who know you, you rebuke temerity. But though you are master of might, you judge with clemency, and with much lenience you govern us; for power, whenever you will, attends you. And you taught your people, by these deeds, that those who are just must be kind; and you gave your children good ground for hope that you would permit repentance for their sins.

Second reading (Romans 8: 26–27)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.
Brothers and sisters: The Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings. And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will.

Gospel (Matthew 13: 24–43)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew.
Jesus proposed another parable to the crowds, saying: “The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field. While everyone was asleep his enemy came and sowed weeds all through the wheat, and then went off. When the crop grew and bore fruit, the weeds appeared as well. The slaves of the householder came to him and said, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where have the weeds come from?’ He answered, ‘An enemy has done this.’ His slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ He replied, ‘No, if you pull up the weeds you might uproot the wheat along with them. Let them grow together until harvest; then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters, ‘First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning; but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” He proposed another parable to them. “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becomes a large bush, and the ‘birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.’” He spoke to them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch was leavened.” All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables. He spoke to them only in parables, to fulfill what had been said through the prophet: I will open my mouth in parables, I will announce what has lain hidden from the foundation of the world. Then, dismissing the crowds, he went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” He said in reply, “He who sows good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good seed the children of the kingdom. The weeds are the children of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his kingdom all who cause others to sin and all evildoers. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

First reading (Wisdom 12: 13 and 16–19)
A reading from the book of Wisdom.
There is no other God besides you, one who cares for everyone, who could ask you to justify our judgments. Your strength is the source of your justice and because you are the Lord of all, you can be merciful to everyone. To those who doubt your sovereign power you show your strength and you confound the insolence of those who ignore it. But you, the Lord of strength, judge with prudence and govern us with great patience, because you are able to do anything at the time you want. In this way you have taught your people that a righteous person must love his human fellows; you have also given your people cause for hope by prompting them to repent of their sin.

Second reading (Romans 8: 26–27)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.
We are weak, but the Spirit comes to help us. How to ask? And what shall we ask for? We do not know, but the spirit intercedes for us without words, as if with groans. And He who sees inner secrets knows the desires of the Spirit, for he asks for the holy ones what is pleasing to God.

Jesus told the crowd another parable, "The kingdom of heaven can be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. While everyone was asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and left. When the plants sprouted and produced grain, the weeds also appeared. Then the servants of the owner came to him and stated: 'Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field? Where did the weeds come from?' He answered them: 'This is the work of an enemy.' They asked him: 'Do you want us to go and pull up the weeds?' He told them: 'No, when you pull up the weeds, you might uproot the wheat with them. Let them just grow together until harvest; and at harvest time I will say to the workers: Pull up the weeds first, tie them in bundles and burn them; then gather the wheat into my barn.'" Jesus put another parable before them, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, that a man took and sowed in his field. It is smaller than all other seeds, but once it has fully grown, it is bigger than any garden plant; like a tree, the birds come and rest in its branches." He told them another parable, "The kingdom of heaven is like the yeast which a woman took and buried in three measures of flour until the whole mass of dough began to rise." Jesus taught all this to the crowds by means of parables; he did not state anything to them without using a parable. So what the Prophet had stated was fulfilled: I will speak in parables. I will proclaim things kept secret since the beginning of the world. Then he sent the crowds away and went into the house. And his disciples came to him stating, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field." Jesus answered them, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world; the good seed are the people of the Kingdom; the weeds are those who follow the evil one. The enemy who sows them is the devil; the harvest is the end of time and the workers are the angels. Just as the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so will it be at the end of time. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom all that is scandalous and all who do evil. And these will be thrown in the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the just will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. If you have ears, then hear."

  4. Primera lectura (Sabiduría 12: 13 y 16–19)
    Una lectura del libro de Sabiduría.
    Porque, fuera de ti, no hay otro Dios que cuide de todos, a quien tengas que probar que tus juicios no son injustos; Porque tu fuerza es el principio de tu justicia, y tu dominio sobre todas las cosas te hace indulgente con todos. Tú muestras tu fuerza cuando alguien no cree en la plenitud de tu poder, y confundes la temeridad de aquellos que la conocen. Pero, como eres dueño absoluto de tu fuerza, juzgas con serenidad y nos gobiernas con gran indulgencia, porque con sólo quererlo puedes ejercer tu poder. Al obrar así, tú enseñaste a tu pueblo que el justo debe ser amigo de los hombres y colmaste a tus hijos de una feliz esperanza, porque, después del pecado, das lugar al arrepentimiento.

    Una lectura de la carta de San Pablo a los romanos.
    Igualmente, el mismo Espíritu viene en ayuda de nuestra debilidad porque no sabemos orar como es debido; pero es Espíritu intercede por nosotros con gemidos inefables. Y el que sondea los corazones conoce el deseo del Espíritu y sabe que su intercesión en favor de los santos está de acuerdo con la voluntad divina.

    1. Evangelio (Mateo 13: 24–43)
      Una lectura del Evangelio Santo según el San Mateo.
      Jesús les propuso otra parábola: “Aquí tienen una figura del Reino de los Cielos. Un hombre sembró buena semilla en su campo, pero mientras la gente estaba durmiendo, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña en medio del trigo y se fue. Cuando el trigo creció y empezó a echar espigas, apareció también la cizaña. Entonces los servidores fueron a decirle al patrón: “Señor, ¿no sembraste buena semilla en tu campo? ¿De dónde, pues, viene esa cizaña?” Respondió el patrón: “Eso es obra de un enemigo.” Los obreros le preguntaron: “¿Quieres que arranquemos la cizaña?” “No, dijo el patrón, pues al quitar la cizaña podrían arrancar también el trigo. Déjenlos crecer juntos hasta la hora de la cosecha. Entonces diré a los segadores: Corten primero la cizaña, hagan fardos y arrójenlos al fuego. Después cosechen el trigo y guárdenlo en mis bodegas.” Jesús les propuso otra parábola: “Aquí tienen una figura del Reino de los Cielos: el grano de mostaza que un hombre tomó y sembró en su campo. Es más pequeño que las otras semillas, pero la vez que crece completamente, será más grande que otra planta; como un árbol, los pájaros vienen y habitan sobre las ramas.” Jesús les contó otra parábola: “Aquí tienen otra figura del Reino de los Cielos: la levadura que toma una mujer y la introduce en tres medidas de harina. Al final, toda la masa fermenta.” Todo esto lo contó Jesús al pueblo en parábolas. No les decía nada sin usar parábolas. Después Jesús despidió a la gente y se fue a casa. Los discípulos se le acercaron y le dijeron: “Explícanos la parábola de las malas hierbas sembradas en el campo.” Jesús les dijo: “El que siembra la semilla buena es el Hijo del Hombre. El campo es el mundo. La buena semilla es la gente del Reino. La maleza es la gente del Maligno. El enemigo que la siembra es el diablo; la cosecha es el fin del mundo, y los segadores son los ángeles. Vean cómo se recoge la maleza y se quema: así sucederá al fin del mundo. El Hijo del hombre enviará a sus ángeles, y estos quitarán de su Reino todos los escándalos y a los que hicieron el mal, y los arrojarán en el horno ardiente. Allí no habrá más que llanto y rechinar de dientes. Entonces los justos brillarán como el sol en el Reino de su Padre. Quien tenga oídos, que entienda.”

Sa iyong lakas nagmumula ang iyong katarungan, at maaari kang magpakita ng habag kaninuman sapagkat ikaw ang Panginoon ng lahat. Ipinapakita mo ang iyong lakas sa nag-aalinlangan sa iyong ganap na kapangyarihan, at pinaparusahan mo ang sinumang nakakaalam nito ngunit sinasadyang di ka pansinin. Walang hanggan ang kapangyarihan mo ngunit mahabagin ka kung humatol. Maaari mo kaming parusahan kung iyan ang nais mo, ngunit sa halip ay pinamamahalaan mo kami nang buong hinahon at pagpipigil. Sa pamamagitan ng ginawa mong iyan, itinuro mo sa mga taong makatarungan na dapat din silang maging maawain. At binigyan mo naman ng pag-asa ang iyong bayan, sa pagkakaloob sa kanila ng pagkakataong makapagsisi.

At ang Diyos na siyang nakakasaliksik sa puso ng tao, ang siyang nakakaalam kung ano ang kalooban ng Espiritu, sapagkat ang Espiritu ang namamagitan para sa atin, ayon sa kalooban ng Diyos.

    Let us pray. Show favor, O Lord, to your servants, and mercifully increase the gifts of your grace, that, made fervent in hope, faith and charity, they may be ever watchful in keeping your commands. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

  9. Bacaan pertama (Kebijaksanaan 12: 13 dan 16–19)
    Pembacaan dari Kebijaksanaan Salomo.
    Sebab kecuali Engkau, tidak ada Allah yang memelihara segala-galanya, sehingga Engkau harus membuktikan, bahwa Engkau menghukum dengan adil. Sebab asas keadilan-Mu ialah kekuatan-Mu, dan karena memerintah semuanya maka Engkau menyayangkan segala-galanya. Memang kekuatan hanya Kauperlihatkan pabila orang tak percaya akan kepenuhan kekuasaan-Mu, dan Kaupermalukan keberanian orang yang mengetahui kekuasaan-Mu itu. Tetapi Engkau, Penguasa yang kuat, mengadili dengan belas kasihan, dan dengan sangat hati-hati memperlakukan kami. Sebab kalau mau Engkau dapat juga. Dengan berlaku demikian Engkau mengajar umat-Mu, bahwa orang benar harus sayang akan manusia. Anak-anak-Mu Kauberi harapan yang baik ini: Kauberikan kesempatan untuk bertobat apabila mereka berdosa.

    Bacaan kedua (Roma 8: 26–27)

    Demikian juga Roh membantu kita dalam kelemahan kita; sebab kita tidak tahu, bagaimana sebenarnya harus berdoa; tetapi Roh sendiri berdoa untuk kita kepada Allah dengan keluhan-keluhan yang tidak terucapkan. Dan Allah yang menyelidiki hati nurani, mengetahui maksud Roh itu, yaitu bahwa Ia, sesuai dengan kehendak Allah, berdoa untuk orang-orang kudus.

      Yesus membentangkan suatu perumpamaan lain lagi kepada mereka, kata-Nya: "Hal Kerajaan Surga itu seumpama orang yang menaburkan benih yang baik di ladangnya. Tetapi pada waktu semua orang tidur, datanglah musuhnya menaburkan benih lalang di antara gandum itu, lalu pergi. Ketika gandum itu tumbuh dan mulai berbulir, nampak jugalah lalang itu. Maka datanglah hamba-hamba tuan ladang itu kepadanya dan berkata: Tuan, bukankah benih baik, yang tuan taburkan di ladang tuan? Dari manakah lalang itu? Jawab tuan itu: Seorang musuh yang melakukannya. Lalu berkatalah hamba-hamba itu kepadanya: Jadi maukah tuan supaya kami pergi mencabut lalang itu? Tetapi ia berkata: Jangan, sebab mungkin gandum itu ikut tercabut pada waktu kamu mencabut lalang itu. Biarkanlah keduanya tumbuh bersama sampai waktu menuai. Pada waktu itu aku akan berkata kepada para penuai: Kumpulkanlah dahulu lalang itu dan ikatlah berberkas-berkas untuk dibakar; kemudian kumpulkanlah gandum itu ke dalam lumbungku." Yesus membentangkan suatu perumpamaan lain lagi kepada mereka, kata-Nya: "Hal Kerajaan Surga itu seumpama biji sesawi, yang diambil dan ditaburkan orang di ladangnya. Memang biji itu yang paling kecil dari segala jenis benih, tetapi apabila sudah tumbuh, sesawi itu lebih besar dari pada sayuran yang lain, bahkan menjadi pohon, sehingga burung-burung di udara datang bersarang pada cabang-cabangnya." Dan Ia menceriterakan perumpamaan ini juga kepada mereka: "Hal Kerajaan Surga itu seumpama ragi yang diambil seorang perempuan dan diadukkan ke dalam tepung terigu tiga sukat sampai khamir seluruhnya." Semuanya itu disampaikan Yesus kepada orang banyak dalam perumpamaan, dan tanpa perumpamaan suatu pun tidak disampaikan-Nya kepada mereka, supaya genaplah firman yang disampaikan oleh nabi: "Aku mau membuka mulut-Ku mengatakan perumpamaan, Aku mau mengucapkan hal yang tersembunyi sejak dunia dijadikan." Maka Yesus pun meninggalkan orang banyak itu, lalu pulang. Murid-murid-Nya datang dan berkata kepada-Nya: "Jelaskanlah kepada kami perumpamaan tentang lalang di ladang itu." Ia menjawab, kata-Nya: "Orang yang menaburkan benih baik ialah Anak Manusia; ladang ialah dunia. Benih yang baik itu anak-anak Kerajaan dan lalang anak-anak si jahat. Musuh yang menaburkan benih lalang ialah Iblis. Waktu menuai ialah akhir zaman dan para penuai itu malaikat. Maka seperti lalang itu dikumpulkan dan dibakar dalam api, demikian juga pada akhir zaman. Anak Manusia akan menyuruh malaikat-malaikat-Nya dan mereka akan mengumpulkan segala sesuatu yang menyesatkan dan semua orang yang melakukan kejahatan dari dalam Kerajaan-Nya. Semuanya akan dicampakkan ke dalam dapur api; di sanalah akan terdapat ratapan dan kertakan gigi. Pada waktu itulah orang-orang benar akan bercahaya seperti matahari dalam Kerajaan Bapa mereka. Siapa bertelinga, hendaklah ia mendengar!"

    すべてに心を配る神はあなた以外におられない。だから、不正な裁きはしなかったと、証言なさる必要はない。あなたの力は正義の源、あなたは万物を支配することによって、すべてをいとおしむ方となられる。あなたの全き権能を信じない者にあなたは御力を示され、知りつつ挑む者の高慢をとがめられる。力を駆使されるあなたは、寛容をもって裁き、大いなる慈悲をもってわたしたちを治められる。力を用いるのはいつでもお望みのまま。神に従う人は人間への愛を持つべきことを、あなたはこれらの業を通して御民に教えられた。こうして御民に希望を抱かせ、罪からの回心をお与えになった。

    同様に、“霊”も弱いわたしたちを助けてくださいます。わたしたちはどう祈るべきかを知りませんが、“霊”自らが、言葉に表せないうめきをもって執り成してくださるからです。人の心を見抜く方は、“霊”の思いが何であるかを知っておられます。“霊”は、神の御心に従って、聖なる者たちのために執り成してくださるからです。

    福音書(マタイ第13章:第24詩–第43詩)
    この読み物はマタイによる福音書です。
    イエスは、別のたとえを持ち出して言われた。「天の国は次のようにたとえられる。ある人が良い種を畑に蒔いた。人々が眠っている間に、敵が来て、麦の中に毒麦を蒔いて行った。芽が出て、実ってみると、毒麦も現れた。僕たちが主人のところに来て言った。『だんなさま、畑には良い種をお蒔きになったではありませんか。どこから毒麦が入ったのでしょう。』主人は、『敵の仕業だ』と言った。そこで、僕たちが、『では、行って抜き集めておきましょうか』と言うと、主人は言った。『いや、毒麦を集めるとき、麦まで一緒に抜くかもしれない。刈り入れまで、両方とも育つままにしておきなさい。刈り入れの時、「まず毒麦を集め、焼くために束にし、麦の方は集めて倉に入れなさい」と、刈り取る者に言いつけよう。』」イエスは、別のたとえを持ち出して、彼らに言われた。「天の国はからし種に似ている。人がこれを取って畑に蒔けば、どんな種よりも小さいのに、成長するとどの野菜よりも大きくなり、空の鳥が来て枝に巣を作るほどの木になる。」また、別のたとえをお話しになった。「天の国はパン種に似ている。女がこれを取って三サトンの粉に混ぜると、やがて全体が膨れる。」イエスはこれらのことをみな、たとえを用いて群衆に語られ、たとえを用いないでは何も語られなかった。それは、預言者を通して言われていたことが実現するためであった。「わたしは口を開いてたとえを用い、天地創造の時から隠されていたことを告げる。」それから、イエスは群衆を後に残して家にお入りになった。すると、弟子たちがそばに寄って来て、「畑の毒麦のたとえを説明してください」と言った。イエスはお答えになった。「良い種を蒔く者は人の子、畑は世界、良い種は御国の子ら、毒麦は悪い者の子らである。毒麦を蒔いた敵は悪魔、刈り入れは世の終わりのことで、刈り入れる者は天使たちである。だから、毒麦が集められて火で焼かれるように、世の終わりにもそうなるのだ。人の子は天使たちを遣わし、つまずきとなるものすべてと不法を行う者どもを自分の国から集めさせ、燃え盛る炉の中に投げ込ませるのである。彼らは、そこで泣きわめいて歯ぎしりするだろう。そのとき、正しい人々はその父の国で太陽のように輝く。耳のある者は聞きなさい。」
