First reading (Amos 6: 1 and 4–7)
A reading from the book of the Prophet Amos.
Thus says the LORD the God of hosts: Woe to the complacent in Zion! Lying upon beds of ivory, stretched comfortably on their couches, they eat lambs taken from the flock, and calves from the stall! Improvising to the music of the harp, like David, they devise their own accompaniment. They drink wine from bowls and anoint themselves with the best oils; yet they are not made ill by the collapse of Joseph! Therefore, now they shall be the first to go into exile, and their wanton revelry shall be done away with.
Second reading (1 Timothy 6: 11–16)
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to Timothy.
But you, man of God, pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. Compete well for the faith. Lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called when you made the noble confession in the presence of many witnesses. I charge you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate for the noble confession, to keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ that the blessed and only ruler will make manifest at the proper time, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, and whom no human being has seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal power. Amen.
Gospel (Luke 16: 19–31)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Jesus said to the Pharisees: "There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day. And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. Dogs even used to come and lick his sores. When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he cried out, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.' Abraham replied, 'My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.' He said, 'Then I beg you, father, send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.' But Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.' He said, 'Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.' Then Abraham said, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'"

Fight the good fight of faith and win everlasting life to which you were called when you made the good profession of faith in the presence of so many witnesses. Now, in the presence of God who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus who gave the good testimony before Pontius Pilate, I command you to keep the commandment. Keep yourself pure and blameless until the glorious coming of Christ Jesus, our Lord, which God will bring about at the proper time, he, the magnificent sovereign, King of kings and Lord of lords. To him, alone immortal, who lives in unapproachable light and whom no one has ever seen or can see, to him be honor and power forever and ever. Amen!
Gospel (Luke 16: 19–31)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Jesus continued with this parable and stated this to the Pharisees: "Once there was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and feasted every day. At his gate lay Lazarus, a poor man covered with sores, who longed to eat just the scraps falling from the rich man's table. Even dogs used to come and lick his sores. It happened that the poor man died and angels carried him to take his place with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. From hell where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham afar off, and with him Lazarus at rest. He called out: 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus with the tip of his finger dipped in water to cool my tongue, for I suffer so much in this fire.' Abraham replied: 'My son, remember that in your lifetime you were well-off while the lot of Lazarus was a misfortune. Now he is in comfort and you are in agony. But that is not all. Between your place and ours, a great chasm has been fixed, so that no one can cross over from here to you or from your side to us.' The rich man implored once more: 'Then I beg you, Father Abraham, to send Lazarus to my father's house where my five brothers live. Let him warn them so that they may not end up in this place of torment.' Abraham replied: 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.' But the rich man said: 'No, Father Abraham. But if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.' Abraham replied: 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the grave.'"

¡Ay de los que se sienten seguros en Sión y de los que viven confiados en la montaña de Samaria, esos notables de la primera de las naciones, a los que acude la casa de Israel! Acostados en lechos de marfil y apoltronados en sus divanes, comen los corderos del rebaño y los terneros sacados del establo. Improvisan al son del arpa, y como David, inventan instrumentos musicales; beben el vino en grandes copas y se ungen con los mejores aceites, pero no se afligen por la ruina de José. Por eso, ahora irán al cautiverio al frente de los deportados, y se terminará la orgía de los libertinos.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 146) (Versículos 6b–10)
La respuesta es: ¡Adora al Señor, mi alma! (O ¡aleluya!)
• Él mantiene su fidelidad para siempre, hace justicia a los oprimidos y da pan a los hambrientos. El Señor libera a los cautivos.
• El Señor abre los ojos de los ciegos y endereza a los que están encorvados. El Señor protege a los extranjeros y sustenta al huérfano y a la viuda.

En la morada de los muertos, en medio de los tormentos, levantó los ojos y vio de lejos a Abraham, y a Lázaro junto a él. Entonces exclamó: ‘Padre Abraham, ten piedad de mí y envía a Lázaro para que moje la punta de su dedo en el agua y refresque mi lengua, porque estas llamas me atormentan.’ ‘Hijo mío, respondió Abraham, recuerda que has recibido tus bienes en vida y Lázaro, en cambio, recibió males; ahora él encuentra aquí su consuelo, y tú, el tormento. Además, entre ustedes y nosotros se abre un gran abismo. De manera que los que quieren pasar de aquí hasta allí no pueden hacerlo, y tampoco se puede pasar de allí hasta aquí’. El rico contestó: ‘Te ruego entonces, padre, que envíes a Lázaro a la casa de mi padre, porque tengo cinco hermanos: que él los prevenga, no sea que ellos también caigan en este lugar de tormento’. Abraham respondió: ‘Tienen a Moisés y a los Profetas; que los escuchen’. ‘No, padre Abraham, insistió el rico. Pero si alguno de los muertos va a verlos, se arrepentirán’. Kahabag-habag kayong namumuhay na maginhawa sa Zion, at kayong naninirahang matiwasay sa Bundok ng Samaria, kayo na kinikilala sa Israel, ang bansang pinili at nilalapitan ng mga nangangailangan! Kahabag-habag kayo na nahihiga sa magagarang kama na yari sa garing, at nagpapahinga sa malalapad na himlayan, habang nagpapakabusog sa mga piling tupa at pinatabang guya. Lumilikha pa kayo ng mga walang kabuluhang awitin sa saliw ng alpa; tulad ni David, gumagawa kayo ng mga instrumento para sa inyong musika. Sa malalaking mangkok na kayo umiinom ng alak, at mamahaling pabango ang ipinapahid sa katawan, ngunit hindi kayo nagdadalamhati sa pagkawasak ng Israel! "Celaka atas orang-orang yang merasa aman di Sion, atas orang-orang yang merasa tenteram di gunung Samaria, atas orang-orang terkemuka dari bangsa yang utama, orang-orang yang kepada mereka kaum Israel biasa datang! Yang berbaring di tempat tidur dari gading dan duduk berjuntai di ranjang; yang memakan anak-anak domba dari kumpulan kambing domba dan anak-anak lembu dari tengah-tengah kawanan binatang yang tambun; yang bernyanyi-nyanyi mendengar bunyi gambus, dan seperti Daud menciptakan bunyi-bunyian bagi dirinya; yang minum anggur dari bokor, dan berurap dengan minyak yang paling baik, tetapi tidak berduka karena hancurnya keturunan Yusuf! Di hadapan Allah yang memberikan hidup kepada segala sesuatu dan di hadapan Kristus Yesus yang telah mengikrarkan ikrar yang benar itu juga di muka Pontius Pilatus, kuserukan kepadamu: Turutilah perintah ini, dengan tidak bercacat dan tidak bercela, hingga pada saat Tuhan kita Yesus Kristus menyatakan diri-Nya, yaitu saat yang akan ditentukan oleh Penguasa yang satu-satunya dan yang penuh bahagia, Raja di atas segala raja dan Tuan di atas segala tuan. Dialah satu-satunya yang tidak takluk kepada maut, bersemayam dalam terang yang tak terhampiri. Seorang pun tak pernah melihat Dia dan memang manusia tidak dapat melihat Dia. Bagi-Nyalah hormat dan kuasa yang kekal! Amin.

Malahan anjing-anjing datang dan menjilat boroknya. Kemudian matilah orang miskin itu, lalu dibawa oleh malaikat-malaikat ke pangkuan Abraham. Orang kaya itu juga mati, lalu dikubur. Dan sementara ia menderita sengsara di alam maut ia memandang ke atas, dan dari jauh dilihatnya Abraham, dan Lazarus duduk di pangkuannya. Lalu ia berseru, katanya: Bapa Abraham, kasihanilah aku. Suruhlah Lazarus, supaya ia mencelupkan ujung jarinya ke dalam air dan menyejukkan lidahku, sebab aku sangat kesakitan dalam nyala api ini. Tetapi Abraham berkata: Anak, ingatlah, bahwa engkau telah menerima segala yang baik sewaktu hidupmu, sedangkan Lazarus segala yang buruk. Sekarang ia mendapat hiburan dan engkau sangat menderita. Selain dari pada itu di antara kami dan engkau terbentang jurang yang tak terseberangi, supaya mereka yang mau pergi dari sini kepadamu ataupun mereka yang mau datang dari situ kepada kami tidak dapat menyeberang. Kata orang itu: Kalau demikian, aku minta kepadamu, bapa, supaya engkau menyuruh dia ke rumah ayahku, sebab masih ada lima orang saudaraku, supaya ia memperingati mereka dengan sungguh-sungguh, agar mereka jangan masuk kelak ke dalam tempat penderitaan ini. Tetapi kata Abraham: Ada pada mereka kesaksian Musa dan para nabi; baiklah mereka mendengarkan kesaksian itu. Jawab orang itu: Tidak, Bapa Abraham, tetapi jika ada seorang yang datang dari antara orang mati kepada mereka, mereka akan bertobat. Kata Abraham kepadanya: Jika mereka tidak mendengarkan kesaksian Musa dan para nabi, mereka tidak juga akan mau diyakinkan, sekalipun oleh seorang yang bangkit dari antara orang mati."

ReplyDeleteNo voy a seguir la tendencia del boicot porque ya tengo conciencia que la mayoría de las celebridades tienen asquerosas perspectivas políticas. Y la mayoría de las celebridades filipinas son molestas.
