First reading (Isaiah 66: 18–21)
A reading from the book of the Prophet Isaiah.
Thus says the LORD: I know their works and their thoughts, and I come to gather nations of every language; they shall come and see my glory. I will set a sign among them; from them I will send fugitives to the nations: to Tarshish, Put and Lud, Mosoch, Tubal and Javan, to the distant coastlands that have never heard of my fame, or seen my glory; and they shall proclaim my glory among the nations. They shall bring all your brothers and sisters from all the nations as an offering to the LORD, on horses and in chariots, in carts, upon mules and dromedaries, to Jerusalem, my holy mountain, says the LORD, just as the Israelites bring their offering to the house of the LORD in clean vessels. Some of these I will take as priests and Levites, says the LORD.
Second reading (Hebrews 12: 5–7 and 11–13)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Hebrews.
Brothers and sisters: You have forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as children: "My son, do not disdain the discipline of the Lord or lose heart when reproved by him; for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines; he scourges every son he acknowledges." Endure your trials as "discipline"; God treats you as sons. For what "son" is there whom his father does not discipline? At the time, all discipline seems a cause not for joy but for pain, yet later it brings the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who are trained by it. So strengthen your drooping hands and your weak knees. Make straight paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be disjointed but healed.
Gospel (Luke 13: 22–30)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Jesus passed through towns and villages, teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem. Someone asked him, "Lord, will only a few people be saved?" He answered them, "Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough. After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door, then will you stand outside knocking and saying, 'Lord, open the door for us.' He will say to you in reply, 'I do not know where you are from. And you will say, 'We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.' Then he will say to you, 'I do not know where you are from. Depart from me, all you evildoers!' And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves cast out. And people will come from the east and the west and from the north and the south and will recline at table in the kingdom of God. For behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last."

Brothers and sisters: Do not forget the comforting words that Wisdom addresses to you as children: My son, pay attention when the Lord corrects you and do not be discouraged when he punishes you. For the Lord corrects those he loves and chastises everyone he accepts as a son. What you endure is in order to correct you. God treats you like sons and what son is not corrected by his father? All correction is painful at the moment, rather than pleasant; later it brings the fruit of peace, that is, holiness to those who have been trained by it. Lift up, then, your drooping hands, and strengthen your trembling knees; make level the ways for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but healed.
Gospel (Luke 13: 22–30)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Jesus went through towns and villages teaching and making his way to Jerusalem. Someone asked Jesus, "Lord, is it true that few people will be saved?" And Jesus answered, "Do your best to enter by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. When once the master of the house has got up and locked the door, you will stand outside; then you will knock at the door calling: 'Lord, open to us.' But he will say to you: 'I do not know where you come from.' Then you will say: 'We ate and drank with you and you taught in our streets!' But he will reply: 'I do not know where you come from. Away from me all you workers of evil.' You will weep and grind your teeth when you see Abraham and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and your yourselves left outside. Others will sit at table in the kingdom of God, people coming from east and west, from north and south. Some who are among the last will be first, and others who were first will be last."

Ahora vengo a reunir a los paganos de todos los pueblos y de todos los idiomas. Y cuando vengan, serán testigos de mi gloria. Yo haré un prodigio en medio de ellos y, luego, mandaré los sobrevivientes hacia todas las naciones: hacia Tarsis, Lud y Put, Meshek, Tubal y Javan, en una palabra, hacia las tierras lejanas de ultramar que no saben de mi fama ni han visto mi gloria. Ellos darán a conocer mi gloria entre las naciones a lo lejos, y de todos los pueblos traerán a todos tus hermanos dispersos como una ofrenda al Señor, a caballo, en carro, en carretas, a lomo de mula o de camello. Me los traerán a mi cerro santo en Jerusalén, igual que los hijos de Israel me traen sus regalos para el templo del Señor en vasos puros. Segunda lectura (hebreos 12: 5–7 y 11–13)

Tal vez hayan olvidado la palabra de consuelo que la sabiduría les dirige como a hijos: Hijo, no te pongas triste porque el Señor te corrige, no te desanimes cuando te reprenda; pues el Señor corrige al que ama y castiga al que recibe como hijo. Ustedes sufren, pero es para su bien, y Dios los trata como a hijos: ¿a qué hijo no lo corrige su padre? Ninguna corrección nos alegra en el momento, más bien duele; pero con el tiempo, si nos dejamos instruir, traerá frutos de paz y de santidad. Por lo tanto, levanten las manos caídas y fortalezcan las rodillas que tiemblan, enderecen los caminos tortuosos por donde han de pasar, para que el cojo no se desencamine y más bien se mejore.
Evangelio (Lucas 13: 22–30)

Jesús iba enseñando por las ciudades y pueblos, mientras se dirigía a Jerusalén. Una persona le preguntó: “Señor, ¿es verdad que son pocos los que se salvan?” Él respondió: “Traten de entrar por la puerta estrecha, porque les aseguro que muchos querrán entrar y no lo conseguirán. En cuanto el dueño de casa se levante y cierre la puerta, ustedes, desde afuera, se pondrán a golpear la puerta, diciendo: ‘Señor, ábrenos.’ Y él les responderá: ‘No sé de dónde son ustedes.’ Entonces comenzarán a decir: ‘Hemos comido y bebido contigo, y tú enseñaste en nuestras plazas.’ Pero él les dirá: ‘No sé de dónde son ustedes; ¡apártense de mí todos los que hacen el mal!’ Allí habrá llantos y rechinar de dientes, cuando vean a Abraham, a Isaac, a Jacob y a todos los profetas en el Reino de Dios, y ustedes sean arrojados afuera. Hermanos: Ya se han olvidado ustedes de la exhortación que Dios les dirigió, como a hijos, diciendo: Hijo mío, no desprecies la corrección del Señor, ni te desanimes cuando te reprenda. Porque el Señor corrige a los que ama, y da azotes a sus hijos predilectos. Soporten, pues, la corrección, porque Dios los trata como a hijos; ¿y qué padre hay que no corrija a sus hijos? Es cierto que de momento ninguna corrección nos causa alegría, sino más bien tristeza. Pero después produce, en los que la recibieron, frutos de paz y de santidad. Por eso, robustezcan sus manos cansadas y sus rodillas vacilantes; caminen por un camino plano, para que el cojo ya no se tropiece, sino más bien se alivie.

Aku mengenal segala perbuatan dan rancangan mereka, dan Aku datang untuk mengumpulkan segala bangsa dari semua bahasa, dan mereka itu akan datang dan melihat kemuliaan-Ku. Aku akan menaruh tanda di tengah-tengah mereka dan akan mengutus dari antara mereka orang-orang yang terluput kepada bangsa-bangsa, yakni Tarsis, Pul dan Lud, ke Mesekh dan Rosh, ke Tubal dan Yawan, ke pulau-pulau yang jauh yang belum pernah mendengar kabar tentang Aku dan yang belum pernah melihat kemuliaan-Ku, supaya mereka memberitakan kemuliaan-Ku di antara bangsa-bangsa. Mereka itu akan membawa semua saudaramu dari antara segala bangsa sebagai korban untuk TUHAN di atas kuda dan kereta dan di atas usungan, di atas bagal dan unta betina yang cepat, ke atas gunung-Ku yang kudus, ke Yerusalem, firman TUHAN, sama seperti orang Israel membawa korban dalam wadah yang tahir ke dalam rumah TUHAN. Dan sudah lupakah kamu akan nasihat yang berbicara kepada kamu seperti kepada anak-anak: "Hai anakku, janganlah anggap enteng didikan Tuhan, dan janganlah putus asa apabila engkau diperingatkan-Nya; karena Tuhan menghajar orang yang dikasihi-Nya, dan Ia menyesah orang yang diakui-Nya sebagai anak." Jika kamu harus menanggung ganjaran; Allah memperlakukan kamu seperti anak. Di manakah terdapat anak yang tidak dihajar oleh ayahnya? Memang tiap-tiap ganjaran pada waktu ia diberikan tidak mendatangkan sukacita, tetapi dukacita. Tetapi kemudian ia menghasilkan buah kebenaran yang memberikan damai kepada mereka yang dilatih olehnya. Sebab itu kuatkanlah tangan yang lemah dan lutut yang goyah; dan luruskanlah jalan bagi kakimu, sehingga yang pincang jangan terpelecok, tetapi menjadi sembuh.

“Nalalaman ko ang kanilang iniisip at mga ginagawa. Darating ako upang tipunin ang lahat ng bansa, at ang mga taong iba't iba ang salita. Kapag sila'y nagkasama-sama, makikita nila ang magagawa ng aking kapangyarihan. Malalaman din nilang ako ang nagpaparusa sa kanila. Ngunit magtitira ako ng ilan upang ipadala sa iba't ibang bansa. Susuguin ko sila sa Tarsis, sa Libya at sa Lydia, mga dakong sanay sa paggamit ng pana. Magsusugo rin ako sa Tubal at Javan, at sa mga baybaying hindi pa ako nababalita sa aking kabantugan. Ipahahayag nila sa lahat ng bansa kung gaano ako kadakila. Bilang handog sa akin sa banal na bundok sa Jerusalem, ibabalik nila ang mga kababayan ninyo buhat sa pinagtapunan sa kanila. Sila'y darating na sakay ng mga kabayo, asno, kamelyo, karwahe at kariton, tulad ng pagdadala ng mga handog na pagkaing butil sa Templo, nakalagay sa malilinis na sisidlan ayon sa kautusan. Ang iba sa kanila ay gagawin kong mga pari at ang iba naman ay Levita.
Ikalawang pagbasa (Mga Hebreo 12: 5–7 at 11–13)

Nalimutan na ba ninyo ang panawagan ng Diyos sa inyo bilang mga anak niya, mga salitang nagpapalakas ng loob? “Anak ko, huwag mong baliwalain ang pagtutuwid ng Panginoon, at huwag kang panghihinaan ng loob kapag ikaw ay dinidisiplina niya. Sapagkat dinidisiplina ng Panginoon ang mga minamahal niya, at pinapalo ang itinuturing niyang anak.” Tiisin ninyo ang lahat ng hirap tulad sa pagtutuwid ng isang ama, dahil ito'y nagpapakilalang kayo'y tinatanggap ng Diyos bilang tunay niyang mga anak. Sinong anak ang hindi dinidisiplina ng kanyang ama? Habang tayo'y itinutuwid, hindi tayo natutuwa kundi naghihinagpis, ngunit pagkatapos niyon, mararanasan natin ang kapayapaang bunga ng pagsasanay sa matuwid na pamumuhay. Dahil dito'y itaas ninyo ang inyong mga nanghihinang kamay at patatagin ang mga nangangalog na tuhod. Lumakad kayo sa daang matuwid upang hindi lumala ang mga paang napilay at sa halip ay gumaling ang nalinsad na buto.

Habang nagpapatuloy si Jesus papuntang Jerusalem, siya'y nagtuturo sa bawat bayan at nayon na kanyang dinaraanan. Minsan may nagtanong sa kanya, “Ginoo, kakaunti po ba ang maliligtas?” Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Pagsikapan ninyong makapasok sa makipot na pintuan. Sinasabi ko sa inyo, marami ang magpupumilit pumasok ngunit hindi makakapasok. Kapag tumayo na ang pinuno ng sambahayan at isinara na ang pinto, magtitiis kayong nakatayo sa labas at katok nang katok. Sasabihin ninyo, ‘Panginoon, papasukin po ninyo kami.’ Ngunit sasabihin niya sa inyo, ‘Hindi ko kayo kilala!’ Sasabihin naman ninyo, ‘Kumain po kami at uminom na kasalo ninyo, at nagturo pa kayo sa aming mga lansangan.’ Sasagot naman siya, ‘Hindi ko kayo kilala! Lumayo kayo sa akin, kayong lahat na gumagawa ng kasamaan!’ Iiyak kayo at magngangalit ang mga ngipin kapag nakita ninyong nasa kaharian ng Diyos sina Abraham, Isaac at Jacob, at ang lahat ng propeta, habang kayo nama'y ipinagtatabuyan! Darating ang mga tao buhat sa silangan at sa kanluran, sa hilaga at sa timog, at kakain sa handaan sa kaharian ng Diyos. Tunay ngang may nahuhuling mauuna, at may nauunang mahuhuli.”

わたしには、彼らが何をしようとしているか、すべてわかっている。何を考えているかも知っている。そこで、すべての国の人々をエルサレムの前に集め、わたしの栄光を見せる。彼らの目の前で驚くような奇跡をして見せ、逃れた者を宣教師として諸国に送る。行く先は、タルシシュ、プル、ルデ、メシェク、ロシュ、トバル、ヤワン（ギリシヤ）、それに、わたしの評判を耳にしたこともなく、わたしの栄光を見たこともない、海の向こうの国々だ。こうして、わたしの栄光を外国人に告げ知らせる。彼らは、すべての国々から、あなたがたの同胞を神への贈り物として、馬、車、かご、らば、らくだに乗せ、わたしの聖なる山エルサレムへ大切に運んで来る。ちょうど刈り入れの時期に、主のものとしてきよめた器に供え物を載せ、続々と神殿へ運び込むのと同じように。こうして帰って来た者の中から、わたしは祭司とレビ人を選び出す。」主はそう告げます。

この読み物はへブル人への手紙です。
あなたがたは神の勧めを忘れていないでしょうか。神は、このように声をかけてくださっているのです。「わが子よ。主の懲らしめを、軽く考えてはならない。主の叱責に、気落ちしてはならない。主が懲らしめるのは、あなたが憎いからではなく、あなたを愛しているからである。主がむち打つのは、あなたが真に神の子どもだからである。」進んで神の訓練を受けなさい。神は、父親として当然のことを、子どものあなたがたにしておられるのです。父親から一度も懲らしめを受けたことのない子どもが、どこにいるでしょうか。罰を受けた当初はだれも気持ちがよいはずはなく、むしろ傷つけられたと感じるものです。しかしあとになれば、それが自分の益となり、すべての面で良かったことがわかります。ですから、しっかり立ち上がりなさい。そして、まっすぐな道を切り開きなさい。そうすれば、たとえ弱くて足が不自由でも、倒れたり、けがをしたりせず、かえって丈夫になるでしょう。

イエスは町々村々を通り、人々に教えながら、ひたすらエルサレムへと進んで行かれました。ある人がイエスに、「救われる人は少ないのでしょうか」と尋ねました。イエスはお答えになりました。「天国への門は狭いのです。できるかぎりの努力をして、そこから入りなさい。よく言っておきますが、入ろうとしても、入れない人がたくさんいるのです。家の主人が戸を閉めてからでは遅すぎます。外に立ち、どんどんたたきながら、『ご主人様！開けてください、お願いでございます』と、なりふりかまわず頼んでも、中からは、『おまえたちなど全然知らない』と、冷たい返事が返ってくるだけです。あなたがたはそれでもあきらめず、『何かのまちがいでは？ 私たちは、あなたと食事をごいっしょしたこともありますし、大通りで教えをいただきました』と食い下がるでしょう。けれども主人は、けんもほろろに答えるのです。『おまえたちなど知らないと言うのが、聞こえないのか。おまえたちのような者は、ここには入れないのだ。とっとと行ってしまいなさい。』アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブ、それに預言者たちもみな神の国に入っているのに、あなたがたはいつまでも外に立ち尽くして、泣きわめき、歯ぎしりするのです。人々は、あちらからもこちらからも来て、神の国に迎え入れられ、席に着きます。いいですか。このことを肝に銘じておきなさい。今は軽んじられている者が、その時には大いにほめたたえられ、今は重んじられている者が、その時には最も軽んじられるのです。」

第二読み物（ヘブライ人への手紙第12章：第5詩–第7詩と第11詩–第13詩）
この読み物はヘブライ人への手紙です。
また、子供たちに対するようにあなたがたに話されている次の勧告を忘れています。「わが子よ、主の鍛錬を軽んじてはいけない。主から懲らしめられても、力を落としてはいけない。なぜなら、主は愛する者を鍛え、子として受け入れる者を皆、鞭打たれるからである。」あなたがたは、これを鍛錬として忍耐しなさい。神は、あなたがたを子として取り扱っておられます。いったい、父から鍛えられない子があるでしょうか。およそ鍛錬というものは、当座は喜ばしいものではなく、悲しいものと思われるのですが、後になるとそれで鍛え上げられた人々に、義という平和に満ちた実を結ばせるのです。だから、萎えた手と弱くなったひざをまっすぐにしなさい。また、足の不自由な人が踏み外すことなく、むしろいやされるように、自分の足でまっすぐな道を歩きなさい。

イエスは町や村を巡って教えながら、エルサレムへ向かって進んでおられた。すると、「主よ、救われる者は少ないのでしょうか」と言う人がいた。イエスは一同に言われた。「狭い戸口から入るように努めなさい。言っておくが、入ろうとしても入れない人が多いのだ。家の主人が立ち上がって、戸を閉めてしまってからでは、あなたがたが外に立って戸をたたき、『御主人様、開けてください』と言っても、『お前たちがどこの者か知らない』という答えが返ってくるだけである。そのとき、あなたがたは、『御一緒に食べたり飲んだりしましたし、また、わたしたちの広場でお教えを受けたのです』と言いだすだろう。しかし主人は、『お前たちがどこの者か知らない。不義を行う者ども、皆わたしから立ち去れ』と言うだろう。あなたがたは、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブやすべての預言者たちが神の国に入っているのに、自分は外に投げ出されることになり、そこで泣きわめいて歯ぎしりする。そして人々は、東から西から、また南から北から来て、神の国で宴会の席に着く。そこでは、後の人で先になる者があり、先の人で後になる者もある。」

Con le loro opere e i loro propositi. Io verrò a radunare tutti i popoli e tutte le lingue; essi verranno e vedranno la mia gloria. Io porrò in essi un segno e manderò i loro superstiti alle genti di Tarsis, Put, Lud, Mesech, Ros, Tubal e di Grecia, ai lidi lontani che non hanno udito parlare di me e non hanno visto la mia gloria; essi annunzieranno la mia gloria alle nazioni. Ricondurranno tutti i vostri fratelli da tutti i popoli come offerta al Signore, su cavalli, su carri, su portantine, su muli, su dromedari al mio santo monte di Gerusalemme, dice il Signore, come i figli di Israele portano l'offerta su vasi puri nel tempio del Signore. Anche tra essi mi prenderò sacerdoti e leviti, dice il Signore.
Seconda lettura (Ebrei 12: 5–7 e 11–13)
Una lettura dalla lettera di san Paolo apostolo agli Ebrei.
E avete già dimenticato l'esortazione a voi rivolta come a figli: Figlio mio, non disprezzare la correzione del Signore e non ti perdere d'animo quando sei ripreso da lui; perché il Signore corregge colui che egli ama e sferza chiunque riconosce come figlio. E' per la vostra correzione che voi soffrite! Dio vi tratta come figli; e qual è il figlio che non è corretto dal padre? Certo, ogni correzione, sul momento, non sembra causa di gioia, ma di tristezza; dopo però arreca un frutto di pace e di giustizia a quelli che per suo mezzo sono stati addestrati. Perciò rinfrancate le mani cadenti e le ginocchia infiacchite e raddrizzate le vie storte per i vostri passi, perché il piede zoppicante non abbia a storpiarsi, ma piuttosto a guarire.
Vangelo (Luca 13: 22–30)
Una lettura del Santo Vangelo secondo San Luca.
Passava per città e villaggi, insegnando, mentre camminava verso Gerusalemme. Un tale gli chiese: "Signore, sono pochi quelli che si salvano?" Rispose: "Sforzatevi di entrare per la porta stretta, perché molti, vi dico, cercheranno di entrarvi, ma non ci riusciranno. Quando il padrone di casa si alzerà e chiuderà la porta, rimasti fuori, comincerete a bussare alla porta, dicendo: Signore, aprici. Ma egli vi risponderà: Non vi conosco, non so di dove siete. Allora comincerete a dire: Abbiamo mangiato e bevuto in tua presenza e tu hai insegnato nelle nostre piazze. Ma egli dichiarerà: Vi dico che non so di dove siete. Allontanatevi da me voi tutti operatori d'iniquità! Là ci sarà pianto e stridore di denti quando vedrete Abramo, Isacco e Giacobbe e tutti i profeti nel regno di Dio e voi cacciati fuori. Verranno da oriente e da occidente, da settentrione e da mezzogiorno e siederanno a mensa nel regno di Dio. Ed ecco, ci sono alcuni tra gli ultimi che saranno primi e alcuni tra i primi che saranno ultimi."
