Gospel (Luke 19: 28–40)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Jesus proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem. When he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, close to the Mount of Olives, he sent two of the disciples with these instructions, "Go to the village opposite and as you enter it you will find a colt tied up that no one has yet ridden: untie it and bring it here. And if anyone says to you: 'Why are you untying this colt?' You shall give this answer: 'The Master needs it.'" So the two disciples went and found things just as Jesus had stated. As they were untying the colt, the owner asked them, "Why are you untying the colt?" And they answered, "The Master needs it." So they brought it Jesus and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they mounted Jesus on it. And as he went down, people spread their cloaks on the road. When Jesus came near Jerusalem, at the place where the road slopes down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen, and they cried out, "Blessed is he who comes as king in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and Glory in the highest heavens." Some Pharisees in the crowd stated to Jesus, "Master, rebuke your disciples." But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if they were to remain silent, the stones would cry out."
First Reading (Isaiah 50: 4–7)
A reading from the book of the Prophet Isaiah.
The Lord God has taught me so I speak as his disciple and I know how to sustain the weary. Morning after morning he wakes me up to hear, to listen like a disciple. The Lord God has opened my ear. I have not rebelled, nor have I withdrawn. I offered my back to those who strike me, my cheeks to those who pulled my beard; neither did I shield my face from blows, spittle and disgrace. I have not despaired, for the Lord God comes to my help. So, like a flint I set my face, knowing that I will not be disgraced.
Second Reading (Philippians 2: 6–11)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Philippians.
Christ Jesus, though being divine in nature, he did not claim in face equality with God, but emptied himself, taking on the nature of a servant, made in human likeness, and in his appearance found as a man. He humbled himself by being obedient to death, even death on the cross. That is why God exalted him and gave him the Name which outshines all names, so that at the Name of Jesus all knees should bend in heaven, on earth and among the dead, and all tongues proclaim that Christ Jesus is the Lord to the glory of God the Father.

When the hour came, Jesus took his place at table and the apostles with him. And he stated to them, "I was eager to eat this passover with you before I suffer; for, I tell you, I shall not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God." Then they passed him a cup and when he had given thanks he stated, "Take this and share it among yourselves: for I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the grape of the vine until the kingdom of God comes." Jesus also took bread, and after giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to them saying, "This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." And he did the same with the cup after eating, "This cup is the new covenant, sealed in my blood which is poured out for you. Yet the hand of the traitor is with me on the table. Know that the Son of Man is going the way marked out for him. But alas for that one who betrays him!" They began to ask one another which of them could do such a thing. They also began to argue among themselves which of them should be considered the most important. And Jesus stated, "The kings of the pagan nations rule over them as lords, and the most hard-hearted claim the title, 'Gracious Lord.' But not so with you; let the greatest among you become the youngest, and the leader as the servant. For who is the greatest, he who sits at the table or he who serves? He who is seated, isn't it? Yet I am among you as the one who serves. You are the ones who have been with me and stood by my through my troubles; because of this, just as the kingship has been given to me by my Father, so I give it to you. You will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones and govern the twelve tribes of Israel. Simon, Simon, Satan has demanded to sift you like grain, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have recovered you shall strengthen your brothers." Then Peter stated, "Lord, with you I am ready to go even to prison and death." But Jesus replied, "I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow this day before you have denied three times that you know me." Jesus additionally stated to them, "When I sent you without a purse or bag or sandals, were you short of anything?" They answered, "No." And Jesus stated to them, "But now, the one who has a purse must take it, and a bag as well. And if anyone is without a sword, let him sell his cloak to buy one. For Scriptures says: He was numbered among criminals. These words had to be fulfilled in me, and now everything written about me is taking place." Then they stated, "See, Lord, here are two swords," but he answered, "That is enough." After this Jesus left to go as usual to the Mount of Olives and the disciples followed him. When he came to the place, he told them, "Pray that you may not be put to the test." Then he went a little further, about a stone's throw, and kneeling down he prayed, "Father, if it is your will, remove this cup from me; still not my will but yours be done." And an angel from heaven appeared to give him strength. As he was in agony, he prayed even more earnestly and great drops of blood formed like sweat and fell to the ground. When he rose from prayer, he went to his disciples but found them worn out with grief, and asleep. And he stated to them, "Why do you sleep? Get up and pray so that you may not be put to the test." Jesus was still speaking when a group appeared and the man named Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him, and Jesus stated to him, "Did you need this kiss to betray the Son of Man?" Those with Jesus seeing what would happen, stated to Jesus, "Master, shall we use the sword?" And one of them struck the High Priest's servant and cut off his right ear. But Jesus stopped him, "No more of this." He touched the man's ear and healed him. Then Jesus spoke to those coming against him, the chief priests, officers of the Temple and elders and he stated to them, "Did you really set out against a robber? Do you need swords and clubs to arrest me? Day after day I was among you teaching in the Temple and you did not arrest me. But this is the hour of the power of darkness; this is your hour." Then the people seized Jesus and took him away, bring him to the High Priest's house. Peter followed at a distance. A fire was kindled in the middle of the courtyard where people gathered, and Peter sat among them. A maidservant noticed him. Looking at him intently in the light of the fire, she exclaimed, "This man also was with him!" But Peter denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know him." A little later someone who saw him stated, "You are also one of them!" Peter replied, "My friend, I am not!" After about an hour another asserted, "Surely this man was with him, for he is a Galilean." Again Peter denied, "My friend, I don't know what you are talking about." He had not finished saying this when a cock crowed. The Lord turned around and looked at Peter and he remembered the word that the Lord had spoke, "Before the cock crows today you will have denied me three times." Peter went outside, weeping bitterly. Meanwhile the guards were mocking and beating Jesus. They blindfolded him, struck him and then asked, "Who hit you? Tell us, prophet." And they hurled many other insulting words at him. At daybreak, the council of the elders of the people, among whom were the chief priests and the scribes, assembled again. Then they had Jesus brought before them, and they began questioning him: "Tell us, are you the Christ?" Jesus replied, "You will not believe if I tell you, and neither will you answer if I ask you. Yet from now on the Son of Man will have his seat at the right hand of the Mighty God." In chorus they asked, "So you are the Son of God?" And Jesus stated to them, "You are right, I am." Then they stated, "What need have we of witnesses? We have heard it from his own lips." The whole council rose and brought Jesus to Pilate. They gave their accusation: "We found this man subverting our nation, opposing payment of taxes to Caesar, and claiming to be Christ the king." Pilate asked Jesus, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus replied, "You say so." Turning to the chief priests and the crowd, Pilate announced, "I find no basis for a case against this man." But they insisted, "All the country of the Jews is being stirred up with his teaching. He began in Galilee and now he has come all the way here." When Pilate heard this, he asked if the man was a Galilean. Finding the accused to come under Herod's jurisdiction, Pilate sent Jesus over to Herod who happened to be in Jerusalem at that time. Herod was delighted to have Jesus before him now; for a long time he had wanted to see him because of the reports about him, and he was hoping to see Jesus work some miracle. He piled up question upon question, but got no reply from Jesus. All the while the chief priests and the scribes remained standing there, vehemently pressing their accusations. Finally, Herod ridiculed him and with his guards mocked him. And when he had put a rich cloak on him, he sent him back to Pilate. Pilate and Herod who were enemies before, became friends from that day. Pilate then called together the chief priests and the elder before all the people, and announced to them, "You have brought this man before me and accused him of subversion. In your presence I have examined him and found no basis for your charges. And neither has Herod, for he sent him back to me. It is quite clear that this man has done nothing that deserves a death sentence. I will therefore have him scourged and then release him." (On the Passover, Pilate had to release one prisoner.) Howling as one man, they protested: "No! Away with this man! Release Barabbas instead." This man had been thrown into prison for an uprising in the city and for murder. Since Pilate wanted to release Jesus, he appealed to the crowd once more, but they shouted back, "To the cross with him! To the cross!" A third time Pilate asked them, "Why? What evil has he done? Since no crime deserving death has been proved, I shall have him scourged and let him go." But they went on shouting, insisting, and demanding that Jesus ought to be crucified, plus their shouts grew louder. So Pilate decided to pass the sentence they demanded. He released Barabbas, the prisoner the crowd asked for emancipation. Barabbas was in prison for rebellion and murder. Pilate then delivered Jesus in accordance with the crowd's wishes. When they led Jesus away, they seized Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the fields, and laid the cross on him, to carry it behind Jesus. A large crowd of people followed him; among them were women beating their breast and wailing for him, but Jesus turned to them and stated, "Women of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, weep rather for yourselves and for your children. For the days are coming when people will say: 'Happy are the women without child! Happy are those who have not given birth or nursed a child! And they will say to the mountains: Fall on us! And to the hills: Cover us!' For if this is the lot of the green wood, what will happen to the dry?" Along with Jesus, two criminals also were led out to be executed. There at the place called The Skull he was crucified together with the criminals - one on his right and another on his left. Jesus stated, "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do." And the guards cast lots to divide his clothes among themselves. The people stood by watching. As for the rulers, they jeered at him, saying to one another, "Let the man who saved others now save himself, for he is the Messiah, the chosen one of God!" The soldiers also mocked him and when they drew near to offer him bitter wine, they stated, "So you are the king of the Jews? Free yourself!" For above him was inscription which read, "This is the King of the Jews." One of the criminals hanging with Jesus insulted him, "So you are the Messiah? Save yourself and us as well!" But the other rebuked him, saying, "Have you no fear of God, you who received the same sentence as he did? For us it is just: this is payment for what we have done. But this man has done nothing wrong." And he stated, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus replied, "Truly, you will be with me today in paradise." It was now about noon. The sun was hidden and darkness came over the whole land until mid-afternoon, because of an eclipse of the sun. At that time the curtain of the Sanctuary was torn in two. Then Jesus gave a loud cry, "Father into your hands I commend my spirit." And saying that, he gave up his spirit. The captain on seeing what had happened, acknowledged the hand of God. He stated, "Surely, this was an upright man." And all the people who had gathered to watch the spectacle, as soon as they saw what had happened, they went home beating their breasts. Only those who knew Jesus stood at a distance, especially the women who had followed him from Galilee; they witnessed all this. Then intervened a member of the Jewish supreme council, a good and righteous man named Joseph from the Judean town of Arimathea. He had not agreed with the decision and action of his fellow members, for he lived uprightly in the hope of seeing the kingdom of God. He went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. He then took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid it in a yet unused tomb cut out of a rock. It was Preparation Day and the star which marks the beginning of the sabbath was shining. So the women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph to see the tomb and how his body was being placed. And returning home, they prepared perfumes and ointments. Finally, the women rested on the sabbath, according to the commandment.
Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 22) (Verses 8, 9, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, and 24)

All who see me make a jest of me; they sneer and shake their heads. "He put his trust in the Lord, let the Lord rescue him! If the Lord is his friend, let him help him!"
Round about me are vicious dogs, villainous rogues encircling me. They have tied up my hands and feet. They can count all my bones, for they are looking and watching me.
They divide my garments among them and casting lots for my raiment. O Lord, be not far from me! O my strength, come rapidly to my help.
I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters, I will praise you in the assembly, "All you who fear the Lord, praise him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him! All you sons of Israel, revere him!"
After the Gospel reading (both the Passion and the Entrance into Jerusalem) a brief homily should be given.
ReplyDeleteOn Palm Sunday, the procession to the Altar where Mass will be celebrated commences. If incense is used, the thurifer goes first with a lighted censer, followed by the cross-bearer (with the cross suitably decorated) between two ministers with lighted candles, then the priest with ministers, and finally the congregation carrying branches.
ReplyDeleteThe Passion (the Gospel reading from Luke 22:14 - 23:56) is read by the deacon or, if there is no deacon, by the priest. It may also be read by lay readers, with the part of Christ, reserved to the priest. It is proclaimed without candles or incense. The greeting and signs of the cross are omitted. Only a deacon asks the bless before the passion, as he does before the Gospel. Likewise finish the Gospel with a brief homily.
ReplyDeleteThe Gloria, which used to transpire after the Kyrie, is omitted. Instead, the priest sprinkles the branches with holy water in silence. Then, the Gospel reading from Luke where Jesus enters Jerusalem (Luke 19: 28-40), is read. Likewise finish the Gospel with a brief homily. After that, the procession commences. Finally, the opening prayer is said with the liturgy readings coming after the prayer.

Después de haber dicho esto, Jesús siguió adelante, subiendo a Jerusalén. Cuando se acercó a Betfagé y Betania, al pie del monte llamado de los Olivos, envió a dos de sus discípulos, diciéndoles: “Vayan al pueblo que está enfrente y, al entrar, encontrarán un asno atado, que nadie ha montado todavía. Desátenlo y tráiganlo; y si alguien les pregunta: “¿Por qué lo desatan?” respondan: “El Señor lo necesita.” Los enviados partieron y encontraron todo como él les había dicho. Cuando desataron el asno, sus dueños les dijeron: “¿Por qué lo desatan?” Y ellos respondieron: “El Señor lo necesita.” Luego llevaron el asno adonde estaba Jesús y, poniendo sobre él sus mantos, lo hicieron montar. Mientras él avanzaba, la gente extendía sus mantos sobre el camino. Cuando Jesús se acercaba a la pendiente del monte de los Olivos, todos los discípulos, llenos de alegría, comenzaron a alabar a Dios en alta voz, por todos los milagros que habían visto. Y decían: “¡Bendito sea el Rey que viene en nombre del Señor! ¡Paz en el cielo y gloria en las alturas!” Algunos fariseos que se encontraban entre la multitud le dijeron: “Maestro, reprende a tus discípulos.” Pero él respondió: “Les aseguro que si ellos callan, gritarán las piedras.”
Primera Lectura (Isaías 50: 4-7)

El Señor Yahvé me ha concedido el poder hablar como su discípulo. Y ha puesto en mi boca las palabras para fortalecer al que está aburrido. A la mañana él despierta mi mente y lo escucho como lo hacen los discípulos. El Señor Yahvé me ha abierto los oídos y yo no me resistí ni me eché atrás. He ofrecido mi espalda a los que me golpeaban, mis mejillas a quienes me tiraban la barba, y no oculté mi rostro ante las injurias y los escupos. El Señor Yahvé está de mi parte, y por eso no me molestan las ofensas; por eso, puse mi cara dura como piedra. Y yo sé que no quedaré frustrado.
Segunda Lectura (Filipenses 2: 6-11)

Él, que era de condición divina, no consideró esta igualdad con Dios como algo que debía guardar celosamente: al contrario, se anonadó a sí mismo, tomando la condición de servidor y haciéndose semejante a los hombres. Y presentándose con aspecto humano, se humilló hasta aceptar por obediencia la muerte y muerte de cruz. Por eso, Dios lo exaltó y le dio el Nombre que está sobre todo nombre, para que al nombre de Jesús, se doble toda rodilla en el cielo, en la tierra y en los abismos, y toda lengua proclame para gloria de Dios Padre: “Jesucristo es el Señor.”
Evangelio/Pasión (Lucas 22:14 – 23:56)

Llegada la hora, Jesús se puso a la mesa con los apóstoles y les dijo: “Yo tenía gran deseo de comer esta Pascua con ustedes antes de padecer. Porque les digo que ya no la volveré a comer hasta que sea la nueva y perfecta Pascua en el Reino de Dios.” Jesús, aceptando una copa, dio gracias y les dijo: “Tomen esto y repártanlo entre ustedes, porque les aseguro que ya no volveré a beber del fruto de la vid hasta que llegue el Reino de Dios. Después tomó pan y, dando gracias, lo partió y se lo dio diciendo: “Esto es mi cuerpo, que es entregado por ustedes. Hagan esto en memoria mía.” Hizo lo mismo con la copa después de cenar, diciendo: “Esta copa es la alianza nueva sellada con mi sangre, que es derramada por ustedes.” Sepan que la mano del que me traiciona está aquí conmigo sobre la mesa. El Hijo del Hombre se va por el camino trazado desde antes, pero ¡pobre del hombre que lo entrega!” Entonces empezaron a preguntarse unos a otros quién de ellos iba a hacer tal cosa. Luego comenzaron a discutir sobre quién de ellos era el más importante. Jesús les dijo: “Los reyes de las naciones las gobiernan como dueños, y los mismos que las oprimen se hacen llamar bienhechores. Pero no será así entre ustedes. Al contrario, el más importante entre ustedes debe portarse como si fuera el último, y el que manda, como si fuera el que sirve. Porque ¿quién es más importante: el que está a la mesa o el que está sirviendo? El que está sentado, por supuesto. Y sin embargo yo estoy entre ustedes como el que sirve. Ustedes son los que han permanecido conmigo compartiendo mis pruebas. Por eso les doy el reino como mi Padre me lo dio a mí haciéndome rey. Ustedes comerán y beberán a mi mesa en mi Reino, y se sentarán en tronos para gobernar a las doce tribus de Israel. ¡Simón, Simón! Mira que Satanás ha pedido permiso para sacudirlos a ustedes como trigo que se limpia; pero yo he rogado por ti para que tu fe no se venga abajo. Y tú, cuando hayas vuelto, tendrás que fortalecer a tus hermanos.” Pedro dijo: “Señor, estoy dispuesto a ir contigo a la prisión y a la muerte.” Pero Jesús le respondió: “Yo te digo, Pedro, que antes de que cante hoy el gallo, habrás negado tres veces que me conoces.” Jesús también les dijo: “Cuando les envié sin cartera ni equipaje ni calzado, ¿les faltó algo?” Ellos contestaron: “Nada.” Y Jesús agregó: “Pues ahora, el que tenga cartera, que la tome, y lo mismo el equipaje. Y el que no tenga espada, que venda el manto para comprarse una. Pues les aseguro que tiene que cumplirse en mi persona lo que dice la Escritura: Ha sido contado entre los delincuentes. Ahora bien, todo lo que se refiere a mí está llegando a su fin.” Ellos le dijeron: “Mira, Señor, aquí hay dos espadas.” Él les respondió: “¡Basta ya!” Después Jesús salió y se fue, como era su costumbre, al monte de los Olivos, y lo siguieron también sus discípulos. Llegados al lugar, les dijo: “Oren para que no caigan en tentación.” Después se alejó de ellos como a la distancia de un tiro de piedra, y doblando las rodillas oraba con estas palabras: “Padre, si quieres, aparta de mí esta copa; pero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya.”
Entonces se le apareció un ángel del cielo para animarlo. Entró en agonía y oraba con mayor insistencia. Su sudor se convirtió en gotas de sangre que caían hasta el suelo. Después de orar, se levantó y fue hacia donde estaban los discípulos. Pero los halló dormidos, abatidos por la tristeza. Les dijo: “¿Ustedes duermen? Levántense y oren para que no caigan en tentación.” Todavía estaba hablando cuando llegó un grupo encabezado por Judas, uno de los Doce. Como se acercara a Jesús para darle un beso, Jesús le dijo: “Judas, ¿con un beso traicionas al Hijo del Hombre?” Los que estaban con Jesús vieron lo que iba a pasar y le preguntaron: “Maestro, ¿sacamos la espada?” Y uno de ellos hirió al servidor del sumo sacerdote cortándole la oreja derecha. Pero Jesús le dijo: “¡Basta ya!” Y tocando la oreja del hombre, lo sanó. Jesús se dirigió después a los que habían venido a prenderlo, a los jefes de los sacerdotes y de la policía del Templo y los ancianos de los judíos y les dijo: “Tal vez buscan a un ladrón, y por eso han venido a detenerme con espadas y palos. ¿Por qué no me detuvieron cuando día tras día estaba entre ustedes en el Templo? Pero ahora reinan las tinieblas, y es la hora de ustedes.” Entonces lo apresaron y lo llevaron a la casa del sumo sacerdote, donde entraron. Pedro los seguía a distancia. Prendieron un fuego en medio del patio y luego se sentaron alrededor; Pedro también se acercó y se sentó entre ellos. Al verlo sentado a la lumbre, una muchachita de la casa, después de mirarlo, dijo: “Este también estaba con él.” Pero él lo negó diciendo: “Mujer, yo no lo conozco.” Como una hora más tarde, otro afirmaba: “Seguramente éste estaba con él, pues además es galileo.” De nuevo Pedro lo negó diciendo: “Amigo, no sé de qué hablas.” Todavía estaba hablando cuando un gallo cantó. El Señor se volvió y fijó la mirada en Pedro. Y Pedro se acordó de la palabra del Señor, que le había dicho: “Antes de que cante hoy el gallo, me habrás negado tres veces.” Y, saliendo afuera, lloró amargamente. Los hombres que custodiaban a Jesús empezaron a burlarse de él y a darle golpes. Le cubrieron la cara, y después le preguntaban: “Adivina quién te pegó.” Y proferían toda clase de insultos contra él. Cuando amaneció, se reunieron los jefes de los judíos, los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la Ley, y mandaron traer a Jesús ante su Consejo. Le interrogaron: “¿Eres tú el Cristo? Respóndenos.” Jesús respondió: “Si se lo digo, ustedes no me creerán, y si les hago alguna pregunta, ustedes no me contestarán. Desde ahora, sin embargo, el Hijo del Hombre estará sentado a la derecha del Dios Poderoso.” Todos dijeron: “Entonces, ¿tú eres el Hijo de Dios?” Jesús contestó: “Dicen bien, yo lo soy.” Ellos dijeron: “¿Para qué buscar otro testimonio? Nosotros mismos lo hemos oído de su boca.” El Consejo en pleno se levantó y llevaron a Jesús ante Pilato. Allí empezaron con sus acusaciones: “Hemos comprobado que este hombre es un agitador. Se opone a que se paguen los impuestos al César y pretende ser el rey enviado por Dios.” Entonces Pilato lo interrogó en estos términos: “¿Eres tú el rey de los judíos?” Jesús le contestó: “Tú eres el que lo dice.” Pilato se dirigió a los jefes de los sacerdotes y a la multitud. Les dijo: “Yo no encuentro delito alguno en este hombre.”
ReplyDeletePero ellos insistieron: “Está enseñando por todo el país de los judíos y sublevando al pueblo. Comenzó en Galilea y ha llegado hasta aquí.” Al oír esto, Pilato preguntó si aquel hombre era galileo. Cuando supo que Jesús pertenecía a la jurisdicción de Herodes, se lo envió, pues Herodes se hallaba también en Jerusalén por aquellos días. Al ver a Jesús, Herodes se alegró mucho. Hacía tiempo que él quería verlo por las cosas que oía de él, y esperaba que Jesús hiciera algún milagro en su presencia. Le hizo, pues, un montón de preguntas. Pero Jesús no contestó nada, mientras los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la Ley permanecían frente a él y reiteraban sus acusaciones. Herodes con su guardia lo trató con desprecio; para burlarse de él lo cubrió con un manto espléndido y lo devolvió a Pilato. Y ese mismo día Herodes y Pilato, que eran enemigos, se hicieron amigos. Pilato convocó a los jefes de los sacerdotes, a los jefes de los judíos y al pueblo y les dijo: “Ustedes han traído ante mí a este hombre acusándolo de sublevar al pueblo. Pero después de interrogarlo en presencia de ustedes no he podido comprobar ninguno de los cargos que le hacen. Y tampoco Herodes, pues me lo devolvió. Es evidente que este hombre no ha hecho nada que merezca la muerte. Así que después de castigarlo lo dejaré en libertad.” (En cada fiesta, el gobernador acostumbraba a poner en libertad a un preso.) Pero todos ellos se pusieron a gritar: “¡Elimina a éste y devuélvenos a Barrabás! Este Barrabás había sido encarcelado por algunos disturbios y un asesinato en la ciudad. Pilato, que quería librar a Jesús, les dirigió de nuevo la palabra, pero seguían gritando: “¡Crucifícalo, crucifícalo!” Por tercera vez les dijo: “Pero ¿qué mal ha hecho este hombre? Yo no he encontrado nada que merezca la muerte; por eso, después de azotarlo, lo dejaré en libertad.” Pero ellos insistían a grandes voces pidiendo que fuera crucificado, y el griterío iba en aumento. Entonces Pilato pronunció la sentencia que ellos reclamaban. Soltó al que estaba preso por agitador y asesino, pues a éste lo querían, y entregó a Jesús como ellos pedían. Cuando lo llevaban, encontraron a un tal Simón de Cirene, que volvía del campo, y le cargaron con la cruz para que la llevara detrás de Jesús. Lo seguía muchísima gente, especialmente mujeres que se golpeaban el pecho y se lamentaban por él. Jesús, volviéndose hacia ellas, les dijo: “Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloren por mí. Lloren más bien por ustedes mismas y por sus hijos. Porque llegarán días en que se dirá: “Felices las mujeres que no tienen hijos. Felices las que no dieron a luz ni amamantaron.” Entonces dirán: “¡Que caigan sobre nosotros los montes, y nos sepulten los cerros!” Porque si así tratan al árbol verde, ¿qué harán con el seco?” Junto con Jesús llevaban también a dos malhechores para ejecutarlos. Al llegar al lugar llamado de la Calavera, lo crucificaron allí, y con él a los malhechores, uno a su derecha y el otro a su izquierda. Mientras tanto Jesús decía: “Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen.” Después los soldados se repartieron sus ropas echándolas a suerte. La gente estaba allí mirando; los jefes, por su parte, se burlaban diciendo: “Si salvó a otros, que se salve a sí mismo, ya que es el Mesías de Dios, el Elegido.” También los soldados se burlaban de él. Le ofrecieron vino agridulce diciendo: “Si tú eres el rey de los judíos, sálvate a ti mismo.”
ReplyDeletePorque había sobre la cruz un letrero que decía: “Este es el rey de los judíos.” Uno de los malhechores que estaban crucificados con Jesús lo insultaba: “¿No eres tú el Mesías? ¡Sálvate a ti mismo y también a nosotros!” Pero el otro lo reprendió diciendo: “¿No temes a Dios tú, que estás en el mismo suplicio? Nosotros lo hemos merecido y pagamos por lo que hemos hecho, pero éste no ha hecho nada malo.” Y añadió: “Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando entres en tu Reino.” Jesús le respondió: “En verdad te digo que hoy mismo estarás conmigo en el paraíso.” Hacia el mediodía se ocultó el sol y todo el país quedó en tinieblas hasta las tres de la tarde. En ese momento la cortina del Templo se rasgó por la mitad, y Jesús gritó muy fuerte: “Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu”. Y dichas estas palabras, expiró. El capitán, al ver lo que había sucedido, reconoció la mano de Dios y dijo: “Realmente este hombre era un justo.” Y toda la gente que se había reunido para ver este espectáculo, al ver lo ocurrido, comenzó a irse golpeándose el pecho. Estaban a distancia los conocidos de Jesús, especialmente las mujeres que lo habían acompañado desde Galilea, y todo esto lo presenciaron ellas. Intervino entonces un hombre bueno y justo llamado José, que era miembro del Consejo Supremo, pero que no había estado de acuerdo con los planes ni actos de los otros. Era de Arimatea, una ciudad de Judea, y esperaba el Reino de Dios. Se presentó, pues, ante Pilato y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús. Después de bajarlo de la cruz, lo envolvió en una sábana y lo depositó en un sepulcro nuevo cavado en la roca, donde nadie había sido enterrado aún. Era el día de la Preparación de la Pascua y ya estaba para comenzar el día sábado. Las mujeres que habían venido desde Galilea con Jesús no se habían alejado; vieron de cerca el sepulcro y cómo colocaban su cuerpo. Después que volvieron a sus casas, prepararon perfumes y mirra, y el sábado descansaron, según manda la Ley.

Pagkasabi nito, nauna si Jesus papuntang Jerusalem. Nang malapit na siya sa Bethfage at Bethania, sa Bundok ng mga Olibo, isinugo niya ang dalawa sa kanyang mga alagad. Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Pumunta kayo sa susunod na nayon. Sa pagpasok doo'y matatagpuan ninyo ang isang batang asno na nakatali; hindi pa iyon nasasakyan ninuman. Kalagan ninyo at dalhin dito. Kapag may nagtanong kung bakit ninyo iyon kinakalagan, sabihin ninyong kailangan iyon ng Panginoon.” Lumakad nga ang mga inutusan at natagpuan nila ang asno, ayon sa sinabi ni Jesus. Habang kinakalagan nila ang batang asno, tinanong sila ng mga may-ari, “Bakit ninyo kinakalagan iyan?” “Kailangan po ito ng Panginoon,” tugon nila. Dinala nila kay Jesus ang asno, at matapos isapin sa likod nito ang kanilang mga balabal, siya'y pinasakay nila. Habang siya'y nakasakay sa asno, inilalatag naman ng mga tao ang kanilang mga balabal sa kanyang dinaraanan. Nang siya'y malapit na sa lungsod, palusong na sa libis ng Bundok ng mga Olibo, nagsigawan sa tuwa ang lahat ng alagad niya at malakas na nagpuri sa Diyos dahil sa mga kahanga-hangang pangyayaring kanilang nasaksihan. Sinabi nila, “Pinagpala ang haring dumarating sa pangalan ng Panginoon! Kapayapaan sa langit! Papuri sa Kataas-taasan!” Sinabi naman sa kanya ng ilang Pariseong kasama ng karamihan, “Guro, patigilin ninyo ang inyong mga alagad.” Sumagot siya, “Sinasabi ko sa inyo, kapag tumahimik sila, ang mga bato na ang sisigaw.”
Unang pagbabasa (Isaias 50: 4–7)
Ang pagbabasa sa aklat ni propeta Isaias.
Ang Panginoong Yahweh ang nagturo sa akin ng aking sasabihin, para tulungan ang mahihina. Tuwing umaga'y nananabik akong malaman kung ano ang ituturo niya sa akin. Binigyan ako ng Panginoong Yahweh ng pang-unawa, hindi ako naghimagsik o tumalikod sa kanya. Hindi ako gumanti nang bugbugin nila ako, hindi ako kumibo nang insultuhin nila ako. Pinabayaan ko silang bunutin ang aking balbas at luraan ang aking mukha. Hindi ko pinansin ang mga pag-insultong ginawa nila sa akin, sapagkat ang Panginoong Yahweh ang tumutulong sa akin. Handa akong magtiis, sapagkat aking nalalaman na ako'y hindi mapapahiya.
Pangalawang pagbabasa (Filipos 2: 6–11)
Ang pagbabasa sa mga taga-Filipos.
Kahit taglay niya ang kalikasan ng Diyos, hindi niya ipinagpilitang manatiling kapantay ng Diyos. Sa halip, kusa niyang binitawan ang pagiging kapantay ng Diyos, at namuhay na isang alipin. Ipinanganak siya bilang tao. At nang siya'y maging tao, nagpakumbaba siya at naging masunurin hanggang kamatayan, maging ito man ay kamatayan sa krus. Dahil dito, siya'y lubusang itinaas ng Diyos, at binigyan ng pangalang higit sa lahat ng pangalan. Sa gayon, sa pangalan ni Jesus ay luluhod at magpupuri ang lahat ng nasa langit, nasa lupa, at nasa ilalim ng lupa. At ang lahat ay magpapahayag na si Jesu-Cristo ay Panginoon, sa ikaluluwalhati ng Diyos Ama.

Nang sumapit na ang oras, dumulog si Jesus sa hapag kasama ang kanyang mga apostol. Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Matagal ko nang hinahangad na makasalo kayo sa Hapunang Pampaskwa na ito bago ako magdusa. Sinasabi ko sa inyo, hindi na ako muling kakain nito hanggang sa ito'y maganap sa kaharian ng Diyos.” Dumampot siya ng isang kopa, at matapos magpasalamat sa Diyos ay ibinigay iyon sa kanila, at nagsabi, “Kunin ninyo ito at paghati-hatian. Sinasabi ko sa inyo, mula ngayo'y hindi na ako iinom nitong katas ng ubas hanggang sa pagdating ng kaharian ng Diyos.” Dumampot din siya ng tinapay, at matapos magpasalamat sa Diyos ay kanyang pinaghati-hati iyon at ibinigay sa kanila. Sabi niya, “Ito ang aking katawan [na inihahandog para sa inyo. Gawin ninyo ito bilang pag-alaala sa akin.” Gayundin naman, dinampot niya ang kopa pagkatapos maghapunan at sinabi, “Ang kopang ito ang bagong tipan ng Diyos na pinagtibay ng aking dugo. Ang aking dugo ay mabubuhos alang-alang sa inyo. Ngunit kasalo ko rito ang magkakanulo sa akin. Papanaw ang Anak ng Tao ayon sa itinakda ng Diyos, ngunit kahabag-habag ang taong magkakanulo sa kanya.” At sila'y nagtanungan kung sino sa kanila ang gagawa ng ganoon. Nagtalu-talo rin ang mga alagad kung sino sa kanila ang dapat kilalaning pinakadakila. Kaya't sinabi ni Jesus sa kanila, “Pinipilit ng mga hari ng mga Hentil na sila'y ituring na panginoon ng kanilang nasasakupan, at ang mga may kapangyarihan ay nagnanasang matawag na mga tagatangkilik. Ngunit hindi ganoon ang dapat mangyari sa inyo. Sa halip, ang pinakadakila ang dapat lumagay na pinakamababa, at ang namumuno ay maging tagapaglingkod. Sino ba ang higit na nakakataas, ang nakadulog sa hapag, o ang naglilingkod? Hindi ba ang nakadulog sa hapag? Ngunit ako'y kasama ninyo bilang isang naglilingkod. “Kayo ang nanatiling kasama ko sa mga pagsubok sa akin. Kung paanong ang Ama ay nagbigay sa akin ng karapatang maghari, gayundin naman, ibinibigay ko sa inyo ang karapatang ito. Kayo'y kakain at iinom na kasalo ko sa aking kaharian, at kayo'y uupo sa mga trono at mamumuno sa labindalawang lipi ng Israel.” “Simon, Simon! Makinig ka! Hiniling ni Satanas na subukin kayo tulad sa ginagawa ng magsasaka na inihihiwalay ang ipa sa mga trigo. Subalit idinalangin kita upang huwag manghina ang iyong pananampalataya. At kapag nagbalik-loob ka na, patatagin mo ang iyong mga kapatid.” Sumagot si Pedro, “Panginoon, handa po akong mabilanggo at mamatay na kasama ninyo!” Ngunit sinabi ni Jesus, “Pedro, tandaan mo ito, bago tumilaok ang manok sa araw na ito ay tatlong beses mo akong ikakaila.” Pagkatapos nito, tinanong sila ni Jesus, “Nang suguin ko kayong walang dalang lalagyan ng pera, balutan, o sandalyas, kinulang ba kayo ng anuman?” “Hindi po,” tugon nila. Sinabi niya, “Subalit ngayon, kung kayo'y may balutan o lalagyan ng pera, dalhin na ninyo. Ang sinumang walang tabak, ipagbili ang kanyang balabal at bumili ng isang tabak. Sinasabi ko sa inyo, dapat matupad sa akin ang sinasabi ng Kasulatang ito, ‘Ibinilang siya sa mga salarin,’ sapagkat ang nasusulat tungkol sa akin ay natutupad na.” Sinabi ng mga alagad, “Panginoon, heto po ang dalawang tabak.” “Sapat na iyan!” tugon niya. Lumabas si Jesus, at gaya ng kanyang kinagawian, nagpunta siya sa Bundok ng mga Olibo kasama ang mga alagad. Pagdating doo'y sinabi niya sa kanila, “Manalangin kayo upang hindi kayo madaig ng tukso.” Iniwan niya sila at pumunta sa di-kalayuan, at doo'y lumuhod at nanalangin. Sabi niya, “Ama, kung loloobin mo, ilayo mo sa akin ang kopang ito, ngunit huwag ang kalooban ko ang masunod, kundi ang kalooban mo.”
Nagpakita sa kanya ang isang anghel mula sa langit at pinalakas ang loob niya. Dala ng matinding hinagpis, siya'y nanalangin nang lalong taimtim, at pumatak sa lupa ang kanyang pawis na parang malalaking patak ng dugo. Pagkatapos manalangin, siya'y tumayo at lumapit sa kanyang mga alagad. Naratnan niyang natutulog ang mga ito dahil sa labis na kalungkutan. “Bakit kayo natutulog?” tanong niya. “Bumangon kayo at manalangin upang hindi kayo madaig ng tukso.” Nagsasalita pa si Jesus nang dumating ang maraming taong pinangungunahan ni Judas, na kabilang sa Labindalawa. Nilapitan niya si Jesus upang halikan, subalit tinanong siya ni Jesus, “Judas, ipagkakanulo mo ba ang Anak ng Tao sa pamamagitan ng isang halik?” Nang makita ng mga alagad ang mangyayari ay sinabi nila, “Panginoon, gagamitin na ba namin ang aming tabak?” Kaagad tinaga ng isa sa kanila ang alipin ng pinakapunong pari at natagpas ang kanang tainga nito. Sinabi ni Jesus, “Tama na iyan!” Hinipo niya ang tainga ng alipin at ang sugat ay kaagad ring naghilom. Pagkatapos, sinabi ni Jesus sa mga punong pari, sa mga pinuno ng mga bantay sa Templo at sa mga pinuno ng bayan na pumunta roon upang dakpin siya, “Ako ba'y tulisan, at naparito kayong may mga tabak at mga pamalo? Araw-araw akong nagtuturo sa Templo at naroon din kayo, ngunit hindi ninyo ako dinakip. Subalit takdang oras ninyo ngayon at ng kapangyarihan ng kadiliman.” Dinakip nga nila si Jesus at dinala sa bahay ng pinakapunong pari ng mga Judio. Si Pedro nama'y sumunod sa kanila na malayo ang agwat. Nagsiga sila sa gitna ng patyo at naupo sa paligid ng apoy, at si Pedro ay nakiumpok sa kanila. Nang makita siya ng isang utusang babae, siya'y pinagmasdang mabuti. Pagkatapos ay sinabi ng babae, “Kasama rin ni Jesus ang taong ito!” Ngunit ikinaila iyon ni Pedro, “Babae, ni hindi ko siya kilala!” Pagkaraan ng ilang sandali, mayroon uling nakapansin sa kanya at siya'y sinabihan, “Ikaw man ay kasamahan nila.” Ngunit sumagot siya, “Ginoo, hindi nila ako kasama!” Pagkalipas ng may isang oras, iginiit naman ng isa sa naroon, “Siguradong kasama ni Jesus ang taong ito, sapagkat isa rin siyang taga-Galilea.” Ngunit sumagot si Pedro, “Ginoo, hindi ko nalalaman ang sinasabi ninyo!” Nagsasalita pa siya nang biglang may tumilaok na manok. Lumingon ang Panginoon at tumingin kay Pedro, at naalala ni Pedro ang sinabi ng Panginoon, “Bago tumilaok ang manok sa araw na ito ay tatlong beses mo akong ikakaila.” Lumabas si Pedro at umiyak nang buong pait. Samantala, si Jesus ay kinutya at binugbog ng mga nagbabantay sa kanya. Siya'y piniringan nila at pinagtatanong, “Hulaan mo! Sino ang sumuntok sa iyo?” Marami pang panlalait ang ginawa nila sa kanya. Kinaumagahan ay nagkatipon ang mga pinuno ng bayan, mga punong pari at mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan. Dinala nila si Jesus sa Kataas-taasang Kapulungan ng mga Judio at siya'y kanilang tinanong, “Sabihin mo sa amin, ikaw nga ba ang Cristo?” Sumagot si Jesus, “Sabihin ko man sa inyo ay hindi kayo maniniwala. Kung tanungin ko naman kayo, hindi rin kayo sasagot. Ngunit sinasabi ko sa inyo, mula ngayon ang Anak ng Tao ay uupo sa kanan ng Makapangyarihang Diyos.” “Ibig mo bang sabihin, ikaw ang Anak ng Diyos?” tanong ng lahat. “Kayo na rin ang nagsasabi,” tugon niya. “Hindi na natin kailangan ng mga saksi; tayo na mismo ang nakarinig mula sa sarili niyang bibig!” sabi nila. Tumayo ang buong Kataas-taasang Kapulungan ng mga Judio at dinala si Jesus kay Pilato. Siya ay pinaratangan nila ng ganito, “Napatunayan po namin na inililigaw ng taong ito ang aming mga kababayan at pinagbabawalan niyang magbayad ng buwis sa Emperador. Sinasabi pa niyang siya raw ang Cristo, na isang hari.” Tinanong siya ni Pilato, “Ikaw nga ba ang Hari ng mga Judio?” “Ikaw na ang may sabi,” tugon ni Jesus. Sinabi ni Pilato sa mga punong pari at sa mga tao, “Wala akong makitang kasalanan sa taong ito.”

Nagsimula siya sa Galilea at ngayo'y narito na.” Nang marinig ito ni Pilato, itinanong niya kung si Jesus ay taga-Galilea nga. At nang malaman niyang si Jesus ay sakop ni Haring Herodes, ipinadala niya si Jesus kay Herodes, na nagkataon namang nasa Jerusalem nang mga araw na iyon. Tuwang-tuwa si Herodes nang makita niya si Jesus. Matagal na niyang ibig makita ito sapagkat marami siyang nababalitaan tungkol dito. Umaasa si Herodes na gagawa si Jesus ng ilang himala, at nais niyang makita iyon. Marami siyang itinanong kay Jesus, ngunit hindi ito sumagot kahit minsan. Samantala, ang mga punong pari at ang mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan ay nakatayo doon at walang pakundangang pinaparatangan si Jesus. Siya'y hinamak at tinuya ni Herodes at ng mga kawal nito. Siya ay dinamitan nila ng magarang damit, at ipinabalik siya kay Pilato. At nang araw ding iyon, naging magkaibigan sina Herodes at Pilato na dati'y magkagalit. Ipinatawag ni Pilato ang mga punong pari, ang mga pinuno ng bayan at ang mga tao. Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Isinakdal ninyo sa akin ang taong ito sa paratang na inililigaw niya ang mga taong bayan. Siniyasat ko siya sa harap ninyo at napatunayan kong walang katotohanan ang mga paratang ninyo sa kanya. Gayundin si Herodes, kaya ipinabalik niya sa atin ang taong ito. Wala siyang ginawang karapat-dapat para sa hatol na kamatayan. Ipahahagupit ko na lamang siya at pagkatapos ay aking palalayain.” Tuwing Pista ng Paskwa, kinakailangang magpalaya si Pilato ng isang bilanggong mapipili ng taong-bayan. Subalit sabay-sabay na sumigaw ang mga tao, “Patayin ang taong iyan! Palayain si Barabbas!” Si Barabbas ay nabilanggo dahil sa paghihimagsik na pinangunahan nito sa lungsod, at dahil na rin sa salang pagpatay. Sa pagnanais na mapalaya si Jesus, minsan pang nagsalita sa kanila si Pilato, ngunit sumigaw ang mga tao, “Ipako siya sa krus! Ipako siya sa krus!” Ikatlong ulit na sinabi sa kanila ni Pilato, “Bakit, ano ba ang ginawa niyang masama? Wala akong makitang dahilan upang siya'y hatulan ng kamatayan. Kaya't ipahahagupit ko siya at pagkatapos ay palalayain.” Ngunit lalo nilang ipinagsigawan na si Jesus ay dapat ipako sa krus. Nanaig ang kanilang sigaw kaya't ipinasya ni Pilato na pagbigyan ang kanilang hinihingi. Ang taong hiningi nila, na nabilanggo dahil sa paghihimagsik at pagpatay, ay pinalaya niya at ibinigay niya si Jesus sa kanila upang gawin ang kanilang kagustuhan. Si Jesus ay dinala ng mga kawal. Nasalubong nila sa daan si Simon na taga-Cirene na noon ay galing sa bukid. Pinigil nila ito at ipinapasan dito ang krus habang pinapasunod kay Jesus. Sinusundan si Jesus ng maraming tao, kabilang ang ilang babaing nag-iiyakan at tumatangis dahil sa kanya. Nilingon sila ni Jesus at sinabi, “Mga kababaihan ng Jerusalem, huwag ninyo akong iyakan. Ang tangisan ninyo'y ang inyong sarili at ang inyong mga anak. Tandaan ninyo, darating ang mga araw na sasabihin nila, ‘Pinagpala ang mga baog, ang mga sinapupunang hindi nagdalang-tao, at ang mga dibdib na hindi nagpasuso.’ Sa mga araw na iyo'y sasabihin ng mga tao sa mga bundok, ‘Gumuho kayo sa amin!’ at sa mga burol, ‘Tabunan ninyo kami!’ Sapagkat kung ganito ang ginagawa sa kahoy na sariwa, ano naman kaya ang mangyayari sa kahoy na tuyo?” May dalawa pang kriminal na inilabas ang mga kawal upang pataying kasama ni Jesus. Nang dumating sila sa isang bundok na tinatawag na Bungo, ipinako nila si Jesus sa krus. Ipinako rin ang dalawang kriminal, isa sa kanyang kanan at isa sa kaliwa. Sinabi ni Jesus, “Ama, patawarin mo sila sapagkat hindi nila nalalaman ang kanilang ginagawa.”
DeleteNagpalabunutan ang mga kawal upang paghati-hatian ang kasuotan niya. Ang mga tao nama'y nakatayo roon at nanonood, habang si Jesus ay kinukutya ng mga pinuno ng bayan. Sinabi nila, “Iniligtas niya ang iba; iligtas niya ngayon ang kanyang sarili kung siya nga ang Cristo na hinirang ng Diyos!” Nilait din siya ng mga kawal. Nilapitan siya ng isa at inalok ng maasim na alak, kasabay ng ganitong panunuya, “Kung ikaw nga ang Hari ng mga Judio, iligtas mo ang iyong sarili.” Mayroon ding nakasulat sa kanyang ulunan [sa wikang Griego, Latin at Hebreo], “Ito ang Hari ng mga Judio.” Tinuya rin siya ng isa sa mga salaring nakapako sa tabi niya, “Hindi ba ikaw ang Cristo? Iligtas mo ang iyong sarili at pati na rin kami.” Ngunit pinagsabihan naman ito ng kanyang kasama, “Wala ka na bang takot sa Diyos? Ikaw ay pinaparusahan ding tulad niya! Tama lamang na tayo'y parusahan nang ganito dahil sa ating mga ginawa; ngunit ang taong ito'y walang ginawang masama.” At sinabi pa nito, “Jesus, alalahanin mo ako kapag naghahari ka na.” Sumagot si Jesus, “Sinasabi ko sa iyo, isasama kita ngayon sa Paraiso.” Nang magtatanghaling-tapat na, hanggang sa ikatlo ng hapon, nagdilim sa buong lupain. Nawalan ng liwanag ang araw at ang tabing ng Templo'y napunit sa gitna. Sumigaw nang malakas si Jesus, “Ama, sa mga kamay mo'y ipinagkakatiwala ko ang aking espiritu!” At pagkasabi nito, nalagot ang kanyang hininga. Nang makita ng kapitan ng mga kawal ang nangyari, siya'y nagpuri sa Diyos na sinasabi, “Tunay ngang matuwid ang taong ito!” Maraming tao ang nagkakatipon doon at nanonood. Nang makita nila ang mga nangyari, umuwi silang dinadagukan ang kanilang dibdib dahil sa lungkot. Nakatayo naman sa di-kalayuan ang mga kasamahan ni Jesus, pati ang mga babaing sumama sa kanya mula sa Galilea. Pinagmasdan nila ang mga pangyayaring ito. May isang lalaki roon na ang pangala'y Jose. Siya'y taga-Arimatea, isang bayan sa Judea. Mabuti at matuwid ang taong ito, at isa siya sa mga naghihintay sa kaharian ng Diyos. Kahit na siya'y kagawad ng Kapulungan, hindi siya sang-ayon sa kanilang ginawa kay Jesus. Nagpunta siya kay Pilato at hiningi ang bangkay ni Jesus. Ibinaba niya ang bangkay, binalot sa telang lino at inilagay sa isang libingang inuka sa bato na hindi pa napaglilibingan. Araw noon ng Paghahanda at magsisimula na ang Araw ng Pamamahinga. Sumunod kay Jose ang mga babaing sumama kay Jesus mula pa sa Galilea. Nakita nila ang libingan at ang pagkakalagay doon ng bangkay ni Jesus. Pagkatapos, umuwi sila at naghanda ng mga pabango at mira. Pagsapit ng Araw ng Pamamahinga, nangilin sila ayon sa Kautusan.
