First Reading (2 Samuel 12: 7–10 and 13)
A reading from the second book of Samuel.
Nathan stated to David, "You are this man! It is the Lord, God of Israel, who speaks: 'I anointed you king over Israel and saved you from Saul's hands; I gave you your master's house and your master's wives; I also gave you the nation of Israel and Judah. But if this were not enough, I would have given you even more. Why did you despise the Lord by doing what displeases him? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife for yourself. Yes, you killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. Now the sword will never be far from your family because you have despised me and taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite for yourself." David stated to Nathan, "I have sinned against the Lord." Nathan answered him, "The Lord has forgiven your sin; you shall not perish."
Second Reading (Galatians 2: 16 and 19–21)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Galatians.
Brothers and sisters: We know that no one is made just and holy by the observance of the Law but by faith in Christ Jesus. So we have believed in Christ Jesus that we may receive true righteousness from faith in Christ Jesus, and not from the practices of the Law, because no mortal will be set right with God in the field of the Law. As for me, the very Law brought me to die to the Law, that I may live for God. I am crucified with Christ. Do I live? It is no longer me, Christ lives in me. My life in this body is life through faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. In this way I do not ignore the gift of God, for, if holiness comes through the practice of the Law, Christ would have died for nothing.
Gospel (Luke 7:36 — 8:3)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to share his meal, so he went to the Pharisee's home and as usual reclined on the sofa to eat. And it happened that a woman of this town, who was known as a sinner, heard that Jesus was in the Pharisee's house. She brought a precious jar of perfume and stood behind Jesus at his feet, weeping. She wet his feet with tears, she dried them with her hair and kissed his feet and poured the perfume on them. The Pharisee who had invited Jesus was watching and thought, "If this man were a prophet, he would know what sort of person is touching him; isn't this woman a sinner?" Then Jesus spoke to the Pharisee and stated, "Simon, I have something to ask you." He answered, "Speak, master." And Jesus stated, "Two people were in debt to the same creditor. One owed him five hundred silver coins, and the other fifty. As they were unable to pay him back, he graciously canceled the debts of both. Now, which of them will love him more?" Simon answered, "The one, I suppose, who was forgiven more." And Jesus stated, "You are correct." And turning toward the woman, he stated to Simon, "Do you see this woman? You gave me no water for my feet when I entered your house, but she has washed my feet with her tears and dried with her hair. You did not welcome me with a kiss, but she has not stopped kissing my feet since she came in. You provided no oil for my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. This is why, I tell you, her sins, her many sins, are forgiven, because of her great love. But the one who is forgiven little, has little love." Then Jesus stated to the woman, "Your sins are forgiven." The others sitting with Jesus at the table began to wonder, "Now this man claims to forgive sins!" But Jesus again spoke to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace." Jesus walked through towns and countryside, preaching and giving the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve followed Jesus, and additionally some women who had been healed of evil spirits and diseases: Mary called Magdalene, who had been freed of seven demons; Joanna, wife of Chuza, Herod's steward; Suzanna and others who provided for them out of their own funds.

Entonces Natán dijo a David: “Ese hombre eres tú. Esto dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel: Te consagré como rey de Israel, te libré de las manos de Saúl, te di la casa de tu señor y las mujeres de tu señor, te di la casa de Israel y la de Judá, y por si esto fuera poco, habría hecho mucho más por ti. ¿Por qué pues despreciaste la palabra de Yahvé? ¿Por qué hiciste esa cosa tan mala a sus ojos de matar por la espada a Urías el hitita? Te apoderaste de su mujer y lo mataste por la espada de los amonitas. Por eso, la espada ya no se apartará más de tu casa, porque me despreciaste y tomaste a la mujer de Urías el hitita para hacerla tu propia mujer.” David dijo a Natán: “¡Pequé contra Yahvé!” Y Natán le respondió: “Yahvé te perdona tu pecado, no morirás.”
Salmo responsivo (Salmo 100) (Versículos 1-3 y 5)
La respuesta es: Somos su pueblo, las ovejas de su rebaño.
• Aclame al Señor toda la tierra, sirvan al Señor con alegría, lleguen hasta él con cantos jubilosos.
• Reconozcan que el Señor es Dios: él nos hizo y a él pertenecemos; somos su pueblo y ovejas de su rebaño.
• ¡Qué bueno es el Señor! Su misericordia permanece para siempre, y su fidelidad por todas las generaciones.
Segunda Lectura (Gálatas 2: 16 y 19-21)
Una lectura de la carta de San Pablo a los galicianos.
Pero como sabemos que el hombre no es justificado por las obras de la Ley, sino por la fe en Jesucristo, hemos creído en él, para ser justificados por la fe de Cristo y no por las obras de la Ley. Pero en virtud de la Ley, he muerto a la Ley, a fin de vivir para Dios. Yo estoy crucificado con Cristo, y ya no vivo yo, sino que Cristo vive en mí: la vida que sigo viviendo en la carne, la vivo en la fe en el Hijo de Dios, que me amó y se entregó por mí. Yo no anulo la gracia de Dios: si la justicia viene de la Ley, Cristo ha muerto inútilmente.
Evangelio (Lucas 7:36 – 8:3)
Una lectura del Evangelio Santo según San Lucas.
Un fariseo invitó a Jesús a comer con él. Jesús entró en la casa y se sentó a la mesa. Entonces una mujer pecadora que vivía en la ciudad, al enterarse de que Jesús estaba comiendo en casa del fariseo, se presentó con un frasco de perfume. Y colocándose detrás de él, se puso a llorar a sus pies y comenzó a bañarlos con sus lágrimas; los secaba con sus cabellos, los cubría de besos y los ungía con perfume. Al ver esto, el fariseo que lo había invitado pensó: “Si este hombre fuera profeta, sabría quién es la mujer que lo toca y lo que ella es: ¡una pecadora!” Pero Jesús le dijo: “Simón, tengo algo que decirte.” “¡Di, Maestro!” respondió él. “Un prestamista tenía dos deudores: uno le debía quinientos denarios, el otro cincuenta. Como no tenían con qué pagar, perdonó a ambos la deuda. ¿Cuál de los dos amará más?” Simón contestó: “Pienso que aquel a quien perdonó más.” Jesús le dijo: “Has juzgado bien.” Y volviéndose hacia la mujer, dijo de Simón: “¿Ves a esta mujer? Entré en tu casa y tú no derramaste agua sobre mis pies; en cambio, ella los bañó con sus lágrimas y los secó con sus cabellos. Tú no me besaste; ella, en cambio, desde que entré, no cesó de besar mis pies. Tú no ungiste mi cabeza; ella derramó perfume sobre mis pies. Por eso te digo que sus pecados, sus numerosos pecados, le han sido perdonados porque ha demostrado mucho amor. Pero aquel a quien se le perdona poco, demuestra poco amor.” Después dijo a la mujer: “Tus pecados te son perdonados.” Los invitados pensaron: “¿Quién es este hombre, que llega hasta perdonar los pecados?” Pero Jesús dijo a la mujer: “Tu fe te ha salvado, vete en paz.” Después, Jesús recorría las ciudades y los pueblos, predicando y anunciando la Buena Noticia del Reino de Dios. Lo acompañaban los Doce y también algunas mujeres que habían sido curadas de malos espíritus y enfermedades: María, llamada Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios; Juana, esposa de Cusa, intendente de Herodes, Susana y muchas otras, que los ayudaban con sus bienes.

Ibinigay ko na rin sa iyo ang sambahayan at mga asawa ni Saul pati ang mga lipi ng Israel at Juda. At mabibigyan pa kita ng higit pa riyan. Bakit mo hinamak ang salita ni Yahweh at gumawa ka ng masama sa kanyang paningin? Ipinapatay mo ang Heteong si Urias sa mga Ammonita at kinuha mo pa ang kanyang asawa. Gayunman, alam naming ang tao'y pinapawalang-sala dahil sa pananampalataya kay Jesu-Cristo, at hindi dahil sa pagsunod sa Kautusan. Kaya't kami rin ay sumasampalataya kay Cristo Jesus upang mapawalang-sala sa pamamagitan ng pananampalataya sa kanya, at hindi sa pamamagitan ng pagsunod sa Kautusan. Sapagkat ang tao'y hindi pinapawalang-sala dahil sa pagsunod sa Kautusan. Ako'y namatay na sa Kautusan sa pamamagitan rin ng Kautusan upang ngayo'y mabuhay para sa Diyos. Namatay na akong kasama ni Cristo sa krus. Hindi na ako ang nabubuhay ngayon kundi si Cristo na ang nabubuhay sa akin. At habang ako'y nabubuhay pa sa katawang-lupa, mamumuhay ako sa pananalig sa Anak ng Diyos na umibig sa akin at naghandog ng kanyang buhay para sa akin. Hindi ko maaaring tanggihan ang kagandahang-loob ng Diyos. Kung ang tao'y mapapawalang-sala sa pamamagitan ng Kautusan, walang kabuluhan ang pagkamatay ni Cristo!

Nang mabalitaang kumakain si Jesus sa bahay ng naturang Pariseo, isang babaing itinuturing na makasalanan sa bayang iyon ang nagpunta roon na may dalang pabangong nasa sisidlang alabastro. Umiiyak siyang lumapit sa paanan ni Jesus, at hinugasan ng kanyang luha ang mga paa nito. Pinunasan niya ng kanyang sariling buhok ang mga paa ni Jesus, hinalikan ito at binuhusan ng pabango. Nang ito'y makita ng Pariseong nag-anyaya kay Jesus, nasabi nito sa sarili, "Kung talagang propeta ang taong ito, dapat ay alam niya na ang babaing humahawak sa kanyang paa ay isang makasalanan." Bilang tugon sa iniisip ni Simon, sinabi ni Jesus, "Simon, may sasabihin ako sa iyo." "Ano po iyon, Guro?" sagot niya. Kaya't nagpatuloy si Jesus, "May dalawang taong umuutang sa isang nagpapahiram ng pera; limang daang salaping pilak ang inutang ng isa, at limampung salaping pilak naman ang sa ikalawa. Sarili nilang salapi ang kanilang ginastos para sa pangangailangan ni Jesus at ng kanyang mga alagad.
