First Reading (Isaiah 49: 14–15)
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.
Zion stated: "The Lord has forsaken me, my Lord has forgotten me." Can a woman forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child of her womb? Yet though she forget, I will never forget you.
Second Reading (1 Corinthians 4: 1–5)
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.
Brothers and sisters: Let everyone then see us as the servants of Christ and stewards of the secret works of God. Being stewards, faithfulness shall be demanded of us; but I do not mind if you or any human court judges me. I do not even judge myself; my conscience indeed does not accuse me of anything, but that is not enough for me to be set right with God: the Lord is the one who judges me. Therefore, do not judge before the time, until the coming of the Lord. He will bring to light whatever was hidden in the darkness and will disclose the secret intentions of the hearts. Then each one will receive praise from God.
Gospel (Matthew 6: 24–34)

Jesus continued to teach his disciples. Jesus states: "No one can serve two masters; for he will either hate one and love the other, or he will be loyal to the first and look down on the second. You cannot at the same time serve God and money. This is why I tell you not to be worried about food and drink for yourself, or about clothes for your body. Is not life more important than food and is not the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow, they do not harvest and do not store food in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than birds? Can any of you add a day to your life by worrying about it? Why are you so worried about your clothes? Look at the flowers in the fields how they grow. They do not toil or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his wealth was clothed like one of these. If God so clothes the grass in the field which blooms today and is to be burned tomorrow in an oven, how much more will he clothe you? What little faith you have! Do not worry and say: What are we going to eat? What are we going to drink? Or: what shall we wear? The pagans busy themselves with such things; but your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. Set your heart first on the kingdom and justice of God and all these things will also be given to you. Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

ReplyDeleteFather, in heaven, form in us the likeness of your Son and deepen his life within us. Send us as witnesses of gospel joy into a world of fragile peace and broken promises. Touch the hearts of all men with you love that they in turn may love one another. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
God our Creator, may this bread and wine we offer as a sign of our love and worship lead us to salvation. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

All thing are of your making, all times and season obey your law, but you chosen to create man in your own image, setting him over the whole world in all its wonder. You made man the steward of creation, to praise you day by day for marvels of your wisdom and power, through Jesus Christ our Lord. We praise, Lord with all the angels in their song of joy. Segunda Lectura (1 Corintios 4: 1–5)

Los hombres deben considerarnos simplemente como servidores de Cristo y administradores de los misterios de Dios. Ahora bien, lo que se pide a un administrador es que sea fiel. En cuanto a mí, poco me importa que me juzguen ustedes o un tribunal humano; ni siquiera yo mismo me juzgo. Es verdad que mi conciencia nada me reprocha, pero no por eso estoy justificado: mi juez es el Señor. Por eso, no hagan juicios prematuros. Dejen que venga el Señor: él sacará a la luz lo que está oculto en las tinieblas y manifestará las intenciones secretas de los corazones. Entonces, cada uno recibirá de Dios la alabanza que le corresponda.
Evangelio (Mateo 6: 24–34)

Jesús seguía enseñándoles a sus discípulos: Nadie puede servir a dos patrones: necesariamente odiará a uno y amará al otro, o bien cuidará al primero y despreciará al otro. Ustedes no pueden servir al mismo tiempo a Dios y al Dinero. Por eso yo les digo: No anden preocupados por su vida con problemas de alimentos, ni por su cuerpo con problemas de ropa. ¿No es más importante la vida que el alimento y más valioso el cuerpo que la ropa? Fíjense en las aves del cielo: no siembran, ni cosechan, no guardan alimentos en graneros, y sin embargo el Padre del Cielo, el Padre de ustedes, las alimenta. ¿No valen ustedes mucho más que las aves? ¿Quién de ustedes, por más que se preocupe, puede añadir algo a su estatura? Y ¿por qué se preocupan tanto por la ropa? Miren cómo crecen las flores del campo, y no trabajan ni tejen. Pero yo les digo que ni Salomón, con todo su lujo, se pudo vestir como una de ellas. Y si Dios viste así el pasto del campo, que hoy brota y mañana se echa al fuego, ¿no hará mucho más por ustedes? ¡Qué poca fe tienen! No anden tan preocupados ni digan: ¿tendremos alimentos?, o ¿qué beberemos?, o ¿tendremos ropas para vestirnos? Los que no conocen a Dios se afanan por esas cosas, pero el Padre del Cielo, Padre de ustedes, sabe que necesitan todo eso. Por lo tanto, busquen primero su reino y su justicia, y se les darán también todas esas cosas. No se preocupen por el día de mañana, pues el mañana se preocupará por sí mismo. A cada día le bastan sus problemas.

Demikianlah hendaknya orang memandang kami: sebagai hamba-hamba Kristus, yang kepadanya dipercayakan rahasia Allah. Yang akhirnya dituntut dari pelayan-pelayan yang demikian ialah, bahwa mereka ternyata dapat dipercayai. Bagiku sedikit sekali artinya entahkah aku dihakimi oleh kamu atau oleh suatu pengadilan manusia. Malahan diriku sendiripun tidak kuhakimi. Sebab memang aku tidak sadar akan sesuatu, tetapi bukan karena itulah aku dibenarkan. Dia, yang menghakimi aku, ialah Tuhan. Karena itu, janganlah menghakimi sebelum waktunya, yaitu sebelum Tuhan datang. Ia akan menerangi, juga apa yang tersembunyi dalam kegelapan, dan Ia akan memperlihatkan apa yang direncanakan di dalam hati. Maka tiap-tiap orang akan menerima pujian dari Allah.

Yesus teruskan mengajar kepada murid-muridnya: Tak seorangpun dapat mengabdi kepada dua tuan. Karena jika demikian, ia akan membenci yang seorang dan mengasihi yang lain, atau ia akan setia kepada yang seorang dan tidak mengindahkan yang lain. Kamu tidak dapat mengabdi kepada Allah dan kepada Mamon. Karena itu Aku berkata kepadamu: Janganlah kuatir akan hidupmu, akan apa yang hendak kamu makan atau minum, dan janganlah kuatir pula akan tubuhmu, akan apa yang hendak kamu pakai. Bukankah hidup itu lebih penting dari pada makanan dan tubuh itu lebih penting dari pada pakaian? Pandanglah burung-burung di langit, yang tidak menabur dan tidak menuai dan tidak mengumpulkan bekal dalam lumbung, namun diberi makan oleh Bapamu yang di sorga. Bukankah kamu jauh melebihi burung-burung itu? Siapakah di antara kamu yang karena kekuatirannya dapat menambahkan sehasta saja pada jalan hidupnya? Dan mengapa kamu kuatir akan pakaian? Perhatikanlah bunga bakung di ladang, yang tumbuh tanpa bekerja dan tanpa memintal, namun Aku berkata kepadamu: Salomo dalam segala kemegahannyapun tidak berpakaian seindah salah satu dari bunga itu. Jadi jika demikian Allah mendandani rumput di ladang, yang hari ini ada dan besok dibuang ke dalam api, tidakkah Ia akan terlebih lagi mendandani kamu, hai orang yang kurang percaya? Sebab itu janganlah kamu kuatir dan berkata: Apakah yang akan kami makan? Apakah yang akan kami minum? Apakah yang akan kami pakai? Semua itu dicari bangsa-bangsa yang tidak mengenal Allah. Akan tetapi Bapamu yang di sorga tahu, bahwa kamu memerlukan semuanya itu. Tetapi carilah dahulu Kerajaan Allah dan kebenarannya, maka semuanya itu akan ditambahkan kepadamu. Sebab itu janganlah kamu kuatir akan hari besok, karena hari besok mempunyai kesusahannya sendiri. Kesusahan sehari cukuplah untuk sehari.
