Sunday readings come in three cycles: A, B, and C. Sundays also have 3 readings, the first reading is from the Old Testament, the second is ordinarily from one of the Epistles or Letters of the New Testament. The third reading is the Gospel. Matthew is read on year A, Mark on year B, and Luke on year C. John's Gospel comes at various times in each liturgical year: on Advent and Lent Sundays and in some readings of year B. Sunday readings are typically posted along with obligatory Mass days.

Responsorial Psalm (Daniel 3: 52-55)
ReplyDeleteThe response is: Glory and praise forever!
Blessed are you, Lord, God of our fathers, be praised and exalted forever. Blessed is your holy and glorious name, celebrated and exalted forever.
Blessed are you in the temple of your sacred glory, your praises are sung forever.
Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom, honored and glorified forever.
Blessed are you who fathom the depths, who are enthroned on the cherubim, praised and exalted forever.
Interestingly, it seems that the responsorial psalm is not from the psalms sung, but from the book of Daniel.

ReplyDeletePriest: Lord Jesus, you have asked us to live as your brothers and sisters, all children of one and the same Father. Lord, have mercy.
Congregation: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: Jesus Christ, you taught us by word and deed how we should live as your disciples and follow in your footsteps. Christ, have mercy.
Congregation: Christ, have mercy.
Priest: Lord Jesus, you gave us your Spirit to continue your work in us and in the world and to unite us in your own love. Lord, have mercy.
Congregation: Lord, have mercy.
Lord, you are our help and our shield. Free us from the slavery of sin and lead us in joy and freedom on the way to everlasting life. Amen.
This is the Opening Prayer for the Holy Trinity Sunday Eucharist.
ReplyDeleteLet us pray. Father, you sent your Word to bring us truth and your Spirit to make us holy. Through them we come to know the mystery of your life. Help us to worship you, one God in three Persons, by proclaiming and living our faith in you. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
Lord our God, make these gifts holy, and through them make us a perfect offering to you. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.
ReplyDeleteFather, all-powerful and ever-living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks. We joyfully proclaim our faith in the mystery of your Godhead. You have revealed your glory as the glory also of your Son and of the Holy Spirit: three Persons equal in majesty, undivided in splendor, yet one Lord, one God, ever to be adored in your everlasting glory. And so, with all the choirs of angels in heaven we proclaim your glory and join in their unending hymn of praise. (After this, you sing the Sanctus.)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Garfield!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Garfield! Hope you have a good birthday, eating all those lasagna!
