First reading (Acts 15: 1–2 and 22–29)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
Some who had come down from Judea were instructing the brothers, "Unless you are circumcised according to the Mosaic practice, you cannot be saved." Because there arose no little dissension and debate by Paul and Barnabas with them, it was decided that Paul, Barnabas, and some of the others should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question. The apostles and elders, in agreement with the whole church, decided to choose representatives and to send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. The ones chosen were Judas, who was called Barsabbas, and Silas, leaders among the brothers. This is the letter delivered by them: "The apostles and the elders, your brothers, to the brothers in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia of Gentile origin: greetings. Since we have heard that some of our number who went out without any mandate from us have upset you with their teachings and disturbed your peace of mind, we have with one accord decided to choose representatives and to send them to you along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, who have dedicated their lives to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. So we are sending Judas and Silas who will also convey this same message by word of mouth: 'It is the decision of the Holy Spirit and of us not to place on you any burden beyond these necessities, namely, to abstain from meat sacrificed to idols, from blood, from meats of strangled animals, and from unlawful marriage. If you keep free of these, you will be doing what is right. Farewell.'"
Second reading (Revelation 21: 10–14 and 22–23)

The angel took me in spirit to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. It gleamed with the splendor of God. Its radiance was like that of a precious stone, like jasper, clear as crystal. It had a massive, high wall, with twelve gates where twelve angels were stationed and on which names were inscribed, the names of the twelve tribes of the Israelites. There were three gates facing east, three north, three south, and three west. The wall of the city had twelve courses of stones as its foundation, on which were inscribed the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. I saw no temple in the city for its temple is the Lord God almighty and the Lamb. The city had no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gave it light, and its lamp was the Lamb.

Because of this there was trouble, and Paul and Barnabas had fierce arguments with them. For Paul told the people to remain as they were when they became believers. Finally those who had come from Jerusalem suggested that Paul and Barnabas and some others go up to Jerusalem to discuss the matter with the apostles and elders. Then the apostles and elders together with the whole Church decided to choose representatives from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. These were Judas, known as Barsabbas, and Silas, both leading men among the brothers. They took with them the following letter: "Greetings from the apostles and elders, your brothers, to the believers of non-Jewish birth in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia. We have heard that some people from among us have worried you with their discussions and troubled your peace of mind. They were not appointed by us. But now, it has seemed right to us in an assembly, to choose representatives and to send them to you, along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, who have dedicate their lives to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ. We send you then Judas and Silas who themselves will give you these instructions by word of mouth. We, with the Holy Spirit, have deiced not to put any other burden on you except what is necessary: You are to abstain from blood from the meat of strangled animals and from prohibited marriages. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell."

Algunas personas venidas de Judea enseñaban a los hermanos que si no se hacían circuncidar según el rito establecido por Moisés, no podían salvarse. A raíz de esto, se produjo una agitación: Pablo y Bernabé discutieron vivamente con ellos, y por fin, se decidió que ambos, junto con algunos otros, subieran a Jerusalén para tratar esta cuestión con los Apóstoles y los presbíteros. Entonces los Apóstoles, los presbíteros y la Iglesia entera, decidieron elegir a algunos de ellos y enviarlos a Antioquía con Pablo y Bernabé. Eligieron a Judas, llamado Barsabás, y a Silas, hombres eminentes entre los hermanos y les encomendaron llevar la siguiente carta: “Los Apóstoles y los presbíteros saludamos fraternalmente a los hermanos de origen pagano, que están en Antioquía, en Siria y en Cilicia. Tenía una muralla grande y alta con doce puertas, y sobre las puertas doce ángeles y nombres grabados, que son los nombres de las doce tribus de los hijos de Israel. Tres puertas dan a oriente y otras tres miran al norte; tres puertas al sur y otras tres al poniente. La muralla de la ciudad descansa sobre doce bases en las que están escritos los nombres de los doce Apóstoles del Cordero. No vi templo alguno en la ciudad, porque su templo es el Señor Dios, el Todopoderoso, y el Cordero. La ciudad no necesita luz del sol ni de la luna, porque la gloria de Dios la ilumina y su lámpara es el Cordero.

May dumating doon na ilang taong mula sa Judea at nagturo sa mga kapatid, “Kapag hindi kayo nagpatuli ayon sa kaugaliang itinuturo ni Moises, hindi kayo maliligtas.” Mahigpit itong tinutulan nina Pablo at Bernabe at naging mainitan ang kanilang pagtatalo. Kaya't napagpasyahang papuntahin sa Jerusalem sina Pablo at Bernabe at ilan pang kapatid na taga-Antioquia, upang ang suliraning ito ay isangguni sa mga apostol at sa matatandang pinuno ng iglesya. Kaya't minabuti ng mga apostol, ng matatandang pinuno ng iglesya, at ng buong iglesya na pumili ng ilan sa kanila upang suguin sa Antioquia, kasama nina Pablo at Bernabe. Nagliliwanag ito dahil sa kaluwalhatian ng Diyos; kumikislap na parang batong hiyas, gaya ng jasper, at sinlinaw ng kristal. Ang pader nito'y makapal, mataas at may labindalawang pinto, at sa bawat pinto ay may isang anghel. Nakasulat sa mga pinto ang mga pangalan ng labindalawang lipi ng Israel, isang pangalan bawat pinto. May tatlong pinto ang bawat panig: tatlo sa silangan, tatlo sa timog, tatlo sa hilaga, at tatlo sa kanluran. Ang pader ng lungsod ay may labindalawang pundasyon at nakasulat sa mga ito ang mga pangalan ng labindalawang apostol ng Kordero. Wala akong nakitang templo sa lungsod sapagkat ang nagsisilbing templo roon ay ang Panginoong Diyos na Makapangyarihan sa lahat at ang Kordero. Hindi na kailangan ang araw o ang buwan upang bigyang liwanag ang lungsod, sapagkat ang kaluwalhatian ng Diyos ang nagbibigay ng liwanag doon at ang Kordero ang siyang ilawan.

Ang salitang narinig ninyo ay hindi sa akin, kundi sa Ama na nagsugo sa akin. “Sinabi ko na sa inyo ang mga bagay na ito habang kasama pa ninyo ako. Ngunit ang Patnubay, ang Espiritu Santo na isusugo ng Ama sa pangalan ko, ang siyang magtuturo sa inyo ng lahat ng bagay at magpapaalala ng lahat ng sinabi ko sa inyo. “Kapayapaan ang iniiwan ko sa inyo. Ang aking kapayapaan ang ibinibigay ko sa inyo; hindi ito katulad ng kapayapaang ibinibigay ng mundo. Huwag mabagabag ang inyong kalooban at huwag kayong matakot. Sinabi ko na sa inyo, ‘Ako'y aalis, ngunit ako'y babalik.’ Kung iniibig ninyo ako, ikagagalak ninyo ang pagpunta ko sa Ama, sapagkat higit na dakila ang Ama kaysa sa akin. Sinasabi ko na ito sa inyo bago pa mangyari, upang kung mangyari na ay sumampalataya kayo sa akin."
Bacaan pertama (Kisah para Rasul 15: 1–2 dan 22–29)

Beberapa orang datang dari Yudea ke Antiokhia dan mengajarkan kepada saudara-saudara di situ: "Jikalau kamu tidak disunat menurut adat istiadat yang diwariskan oleh Musa, kamu tidak dapat diselamatkan." Tetapi Paulus dan Barnabas dengan keras melawan dan membantah pendapat mereka itu. Akhirnya ditetapkan, supaya Paulus dan Barnabas serta beberapa orang lain dari jemaat itu pergi kepada rasul-rasul dan penatua-penatua di Yerusalem untuk membicarakan soal itu. Maka rasul-rasul dan penatua-penatua beserta seluruh jemaat itu mengambil keputusan untuk memilih dari antara mereka beberapa orang yang akan diutus ke Antiokhia bersama-sama dengan Paulus dan Barnabas, yaitu Yudas yang disebut Barsabas dan Silas. Keduanya adalah orang terpandang di antara saudara-saudara itu. Kepada mereka diserahkan surat yang bunyinya: "Salam dari rasul-rasul dan penatua-penatua, dari saudara-saudaramu kepada saudara-saudara di Antiokhia, Siria dan Kilikia yang berasal dari bangsa-bangsa lain. Kami telah mendengar, bahwa ada beberapa orang di antara kami, yang tiada mendapat pesan dari kami, telah menggelisahkan dan menggoyangkan hatimu dengan ajaran mereka. Sebab itu dengan bulat hati kami telah memutuskan untuk memilih dan mengutus beberapa orang kepada kamu bersama-sama dengan Barnabas dan Paulus yang kami kasihi, yaitu dua orang yang telah mempertaruhkan nyawanya karena nama Tuhan kita Yesus Kristus. Maka kami telah mengutus Yudas dan Silas, yang dengan lisan akan menyampaikan pesan yang tertulis ini juga kepada kamu. Sebab adalah keputusan Roh Kudus dan keputusan kami, supaya kepada kamu jangan ditanggungkan lebih banyak beban dari pada yang perlu ini: kamu harus menjauhkan diri dari makanan yang dipersembahkan kepada berhala, dari darah, dari daging binatang yang mati dicekik dan dari percabulan. Jikalau kamu memelihara diri dari hal-hal ini, kamu berbuat baik. Sekianlah, selamat."
Bacaan kedua (Wahyu 21: 10–14 dan 22–23)

Lalu, di dalam roh ia membawa aku ke atas sebuah gunung yang besar lagi tinggi dan ia menunjukkan kepadaku kota yang kudus itu, Yerusalem, turun dari sorga, dari Allah. Kota itu penuh dengan kemuliaan Allah dan cahayanya sama seperti permata yang paling indah, bagaikan permata yaspis, jernih seperti kristal. Dan temboknya besar lagi tinggi dan pintu gerbangnya dua belas buah; dan di atas pintu-pintu gerbang itu ada dua belas malaikat dan di atasnya tertulis nama kedua belas suku Israel. Di sebelah timur terdapat tiga pintu gerbang dan di sebelah utara tiga pintu gerbang dan di sebelah selatan tiga pintu gerbang dan di sebelah barat tiga pintu gerbang. Dan tembok kota itu mempunyai dua belas batu dasar dan di atasnya tertulis kedua belas nama kedua belas rasul Anak Domba itu. Dan aku tidak melihat Bait Suci di dalamnya; sebab Allah, Tuhan Yang Mahakuasa, adalah Bait Sucinya, demikian juga Anak Domba itu. Dan kota itu tidak memerlukan matahari dan bulan untuk menyinarinya, sebab kemuliaan Allah meneranginya dan Anak Domba itu adalah lampunya.

Seorang di antara murid Yesus, yaitu murid yang dikasihi-Nya, bersandar dekat kepada-Nya, di sebelah kanan-Nya. Kepada murid itu Simon Petrus memberi isyarat dan berkata: "Tanyalah siapa yang dimaksudkan-Nya!" Murid yang duduk dekat Yesus itu berpaling dan berkata kepada-Nya: "Tuhan, siapakah itu?" Jawab Yesus: "Dialah itu, yang kepadanya Aku akan memberikan roti, sesudah Aku mencelupkannya." Sesudah berkata demikian Ia mengambil roti, mencelupkannya dan memberikannya kepada Yudas, anak Simon Iskariot. Dan sesudah Yudas menerima roti itu, ia kerasukan Iblis. Maka Yesus berkata kepadanya: "Apa yang hendak kauperbuat, perbuatlah dengan segera." Tetapi tidak ada seorang pun dari antara mereka yang duduk makan itu mengerti, apa maksud Yesus mengatakan itu kepada Yudas. Karena Yudas memegang kas ada yang menyangka, bahwa Yesus menyuruh dia membeli apa-apa yang perlu untuk perayaan itu, atau memberi apa-apa kepada orang miskin.

パウロとバルナバがアンテオケにいた時のこと、ユダヤから来た人たちが、「古いユダヤの慣習どおり割礼を受けなければ救われない」と教え始めました。パウロとバルナバは、このことで彼らと激しく対立し、大論争が持ち上がりました。それでとうとう、何人かの信者と共にパウロとバルナバをエルサレムに送り、この問題について使徒や長老たちと協議することになりました。使徒や長老たちをはじめ全エルサレムの教会は、パウロとバルナバと共に、アンテオケまで代表を派遣し、この決定事項を報告することを決議しました。そこで選ばれたのが、教会の指導者、ユダ〔別名バルサバ〕とシラスでした。二人が持って行った手紙には、こう書いてありました。「使徒および長老たち、ならびにエルサレムのクリスチャンから、アンテオケ、シリヤ、キリキヤの外国人クリスチャンの皆様へ。こちらから行った何人かのクリスチャンが、いろいろなことを言って皆様をまどわせ、救いにまで疑問をいだかせたことを、確かに聞きました。しかし、誤解なさらないでください。私たちがそのような指示を与えたわけではありません。それでこの際、愛するバルナバとパウロと共に、二人の正式な代表を派遣するのが最もよい方法だと、全会一致で決議しました。代表のユダとシラスは、主イエス・キリストのために、いのちを危険にさらしてきた人たちです。この人たちが、今回の問題についての決定を口頭でお伝えするはずです。すなわち、偶像に供えた物を食べないこと、しめ殺した動物の肉は、血を抜かないままで食べないこと、血を食べないこと、それから、もちろん不品行を避けることです。これ以外のユダヤ人のおきてを押しつけるようなことは、好ましくありません。それは聖霊もお示しになったことですし、私たちも、そう判断するのです。皆様には、これだけを守っていただけば十分です。」
第二読み物（黙示録２１章10詩–14詩と22詩–23詩）
この読み物は黙示録です。
幻の中で、天使は私を高い山の頂上に連れて行きました。そこで私は、すばらしい都、きよいエルサレムが神のもとを出て、天から下って来るのを見ました。都は神の栄光に包まれ、宝石のように光り輝き、碧玉のように〔水晶のように〕透き通っていました。都には、分厚い城壁が高くそびえ、十二人の天使が守る十二の門があり、それぞれに、イスラエルの十二部族の名が記されていました。また、門は東西南北の方角に、三つずつ設けられていました。城壁には十二の土台石があって、それぞれに、小羊の十二使徒の名が書き込まれていました。それにしても、都には、どこにも神殿が見あたらないのです。というのも、全能の神である主と小羊とを、都のどこででも、自由に礼拝できるからです。都には、太陽も月もいりません。神と小羊との栄光が、明るく照らしているからです。
福音書（ヨハネ１４章：23詩–29詩）
この読み物はヨハネの福音書です。
イエスはお答えになりました。「わたしを愛し、わたしのことばを守る人にだけ、わたしは自分を現すのです。父もまた、そういう人を愛してくださいます。わたしたちはその人のところに来て、その人といっしょに住みます。わたしのことばを守らない人は、わたしを愛していないのです。わたしは、自分で考え出したことを話しているのではありません。わたしをお遣わしになった父が教えてくださったことを話しているのです。今、まだあなたがたといっしょにいる間に、このことをみな話しておきます。しかし、父がわたしの代わりに助け手（聖霊）を送ってくださる時には、その方があなたがたにすべてのことを教え、わたしが話しておいたことを、みな思い出させてくださるのです。あなたがたに贈り物をあげましょう。あなたがたの思いと心を安らかにすること、それがわたしの贈り物です。わたしが与える平安は、この世のはかない平安とは比べものになりません。だから、どんな時にもおろおろしたり、恐れたりしてはいけません。『わたしは去って行くが、また戻って来る』と言ったことを思い出しなさい。ほんとうにわたしを愛しているなら、今わたしが父のもとに行けるのを、心から喜んでくれるはずです。父はわたしよりも偉大だからです。わたしは、まだ起こっていないことを前もって話しました。それが起こった時に、あなたがたがわたしを信じるためです。」
