The Lord addressed Job out of the storm and said: Who shut within doors the sea, when it burst forth from the womb; when I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling bands? When I set limits for it and fastened the bar of its door, and said: Thus far shall you come but no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stilled!
Second reading (2 Corinthians 5: 14–17)
A reading from the second letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.
Brothers and sisters: The love of Christ impels us, once we have come to the conviction that one died for all; therefore, all have died. He indeed died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. Consequently, from now on we regard no one according to the flesh; even if we once knew Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him so no longer. So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.

On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples: “Let us cross to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” They were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”

They cried to the LORD in their distress; from their straits he rescued them, he hushed the storm to a gentle breeze, and the billows of the sea were stilled.
They rejoiced that they were calmed, and he brought them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his kindness and his wondrous deeds to the children of men.

Those who went to the sea in ships, merchants on the mighty waters saw the marvels of the Lord, his wonder deeds in the deep.
For he spoke and stirred up a storm whipping up the waves of the sea. Flung upward and plunged to the depths, they lost courage in the ordeal.
Then they cried to the Lord in anguish, and he rescued them from their distress. He stilled the storm to a gentle breeze and hushed the billows to silent waves.
How glad they were! He brought them safe and sound to the port where they were bound. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his love and wondrous deeds for humans.

Yo le puse un límite al mar y cerré con llave sus compuertas. Y le dije: “Llegarás hasta aquí, y de aquí no pasarás; aquí se romperán tus olas arrogantes.”
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 107) (Versículos 23–26 y 28–31)
La respuesta es: Den gracias al Señor, su amor es eterno.
• Se hicieron a la mar los comerciantes; surcaron las aguas con sus barcos, y allí, en alta mar, vieron la creación maravillosa del Señor.
• A la voz del Señor se desató una tormenta que levantaba grandes olas; eran lanzados hasta el cielo y hundidos hasta el fondo del mar; ¡perdieron el valor ante el peligro!
• Pero en su angustia clamaron al Señor y él los sacó de la aflicción: convirtió en brisa la tempestad y las olas se calmaron.

El amor de Cristo gobierna nuestras vidas desde que sabemos que uno murió por todos y que, por consiguiente, todos han muerto. Y Cristo murió por todos, para que los que viven no vivan ya para sí sino para él, que murió y resucitó por ellos. Así que nosotros ya no pensamos de nadie según los criterios de este mundo; y aunque antes pensábamos de Cristo según esos criterios, ahora ya no lo pensamos. Por lo tanto, el que está unido a Cristo es una nueva persona. Las cosas viejas pasaron; han sido hechas nuevas.

Otras barcas le acompañaban. De pronto se desató una tormenta; y el viento era tan fuerte, que las olas, cayendo sobre la barca, comenzaron a llenarla de agua. Pero Jesús se había dormido en la parte de popa, apoyado sobre una almohada. Le despertaron y le dijeron: “¡Maestro!, ¿no te importa que nos estemos hundiendo?” Jesús se levantó, dio una orden al viento y le dijo al mar: “¡Silencio! ¡Cállate!” El viento se detuvo y todo quedó completamente en calma. Después dijo Jesús a sus discípulos: “¿Por qué tanto miedo? ¿Todavía no tienen fe?” Y ellos, muy asustados, se preguntaban unos a otros: “¿Quién es este, que hasta el viento y el mar le obedecen?”

Ginising siya ng mga alagad at sinabi, “Guro, balewala ba sa inyo kung mapahamak kami?” Bumangon si Jesus at sinaway ang hangin, “Tigil!” at sinabi sa lawa, “Tumahimik ka!” Tumigil nga ang hangin at tumahimik ang lawa. Nang siya'y mag-utos, nagngalit ang dagat, hangin ay lumakas, lumaki ang alon na kung pagmamasdan, ay pagkatataas. Ang sasakyan nila halos ay ipukol mula sa ibaba, kapag naitaas ang sasakyang ito'y babagsak na bigla; dahil sa panganib, ang pag-asa nila ay halos mawala.
Nang nababagabag, sa Panginoong Diyos sila ay tumawag, dininig nga sila at sa kahirapan, sila'y iniligtas. Ang bagyong malakas, pinayapa niya't kanyang pinatigil, pati mga alon, na naglalakihan ay tumahimik din.

ReplyDeleteDe la cámara de Marvin Leonen, el juez asociado. Con la profunda tristeza, averigüé la despedida de nuestro expresidente Benigno S. Aquino el tercero. Lo conocía que era un hombre simpático, que tuvo la pasión servir a nuestro pueblo, la diligencia en sus deberes, y la curiosidad ávida y tenaz sobre nuevo conocimiento y el mundo en general. Aprendí mucho de él. Lo vi que llevó el título con dignidad e integridad. Fue un honor servir a él. Lo extrañaremos.

私たちは何をするにしても、自分の利益を求めるのではなく、キリストの愛に動かされて行っているのです。キリストが私たちのために死んでくださったことを信じる以上、自分が、今までの古い生活に対して死んだことも信じなければなりません。キリストは全人類のために死んでくださいました。それは、キリストから永遠のいのちをいただいて生きる人がみな、もはや自分を喜ばせるためではなく、自分のために死んで復活されたキリストに喜ばれるように生きるためです。ですから、世間の評判や、外見の良し悪しで、人を評価するのはやめなさい。以前、私は、その誤った考え方で、キリストのことを自分と同じ人間とみなしていました。しかし今では、その考えは一変しました。だれでもクリスチャンになると、内側が全く新しくされます。もはや今までと同じ人間ではありません。新しい人生が始まったのです。

なぜなら、キリストの愛がわたしたちを駆り立てているからです。わたしたちはこう考えます。すなわち、一人の方がすべての人のために死んでくださった以上、すべての人も死んだことになります。その一人の方はすべての人のために死んでくださった。その目的は、生きている人たちが、もはや自分自身のために生きるのではなく、自分たちのために死んで復活してくださった方のために生きることなのです。それで、わたしたちは、今後だれをも肉に従って知ろうとはしません。肉に従ってキリストを知っていたとしても、今はもうそのように知ろうとはしません。だから、キリストと結ばれる人はだれでも、新しく創造された者なのです。古いものは過ぎ去り、新しいものが生じた。

Seconda lettura (2 Corinzi 5: 14–17)

Poiché l'amore del Cristo ci spinge, al pensiero che uno è morto per tutti e quindi tutti sono morti. Ed egli è morto per tutti, perché quelli che vivono non vivano più per se stessi, ma per colui che è morto e risuscitato per loro. Cosicché ormai noi non conosciamo più nessuno secondo la carne; e anche se abbiamo conosciuto Cristo secondo la carne, ora non lo conosciamo più così. Quindi se uno è in Cristo, è una creatura nuova; le cose vecchie sono passate, ecco ne sono nate di nuove.

Allora lo svegliarono e gli dissero: “Maestro, non t'importa che moriamo?” Destatosi, sgridò il vento e disse al mare: “Taci, calmati!” Il vento cessò e vi fu grande bonaccia. Poi disse loro: “Perché siete così paurosi? Non avete ancora fede?” E furono presi da grande timore e si dicevano l'un l'altro: “Chi è dunque costui, al quale anche il vento e il mare obbediscono?”
