First reading (Genesis 14: 18–20)
A reading from the book of Genesis.
In those days, Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine, and being a priest of God Most High, he blessed Abram with these words: "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, the creator of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who delivered your foes into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Second reading (1 Corinthians 11: 23–26)
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.
Brothers and sisters: I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, also the cup, after supper, saying,  "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.


Gospel (Luke 9: 11b–17)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Jesus spoke to the crowds about the kingdom of God, and he healed those who needed to be cured. As the day was drawing to a close, the Twelve approached him and said, "Dismiss the crowd so that they can go to the surrounding villages and farms and find lodging and provisions; for we are in a deserted place here." He said to them, "Give them some food yourselves." They replied, "Five loaves and two fish are all we have, unless we ourselves go and buy food for all these people." Now the men there numbered about five thousand. Then he said to his disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty." They did so and made them all sit down. Then taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing over them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. They all ate and were satisfied. And when the leftover fragments were picked up, they filled twelve wicker baskets.

In the same manner, taking the cup after the supper, he stated, "This cup is the new Covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink it, do it in memory of me." So then, whenever you eat of this bread and drink from this cup, you are proclaiming the death of the Lord until he comes.

Gospel (Luke 9: 11b–17)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Jesus welcomed the crowd who followed him in Bethsaida and commenced speaking about the kingdom of God, curing those who are in need of healing. The day was drawing to a close and the Twelve drew near to tell him, "Send the crowd away and let them go into the villages and farms around, to find lodging and food, for we are here in a lonely place." However, Jesus replied, "You yourselves give them something to eat." They answered, "We have only five loaves and two fish; do you want us to go and buy food enough for all this crowd?" For there were about five thousand men. Then Jesus told his disciples, "Make these people sit down in groups of fifties." So they made all of them settle down. Jesus then took the five loaves and two fish, and raising his eyes to heaven, pronounced a blessing over them; he broke them and gave them to the disciples to distribute to the crowd. They ate and everyone had enough; and when they gathered up what was left, twelve baskets were filled with broken pieces.

    The response is: You are a priest forever, in the line of Melchizedek.

    The LORD said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool."

    The scepter of your power the LORD will stretch forth from Zion: "Rule in the midst of your enemies."

    "Yours is princely power in the day of your birth, in holy splendor; before the daystar, like the dew, I have begotten you."

    The LORD has sworn, and he will not repent: "You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek."

    Yours is royal dignity from the day you were born in holy majesty. Like dew from the womb of the dawn, I have begotten you.

    The Lord has sworn, and he will not take back his word: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."

  4. Laud, O Zion, your salvation, laud with hymns of exultation, Christ, your king and shepherd true: Bring him all the praise you know, he is more than you bestow. Never can you reach his due. Special theme for glad thanksgiving is the quickening and the living, bread today before you set. From his hands of old partaken, as we know, by faith unshaken, where the Twelve at supper met. Full and clear ring out your chanting, joy nor sweetest grace be wanting, from your heart let praises burst: For today the feast is holden, when the institution olden of that supper was rehearsed. Here the new law's new oblation, by the new king's revelation, ends the form of ancient rite: Now the new the old effaces, truth away the shadow chases, light dispels the gloom of night. What he did at supper seated, Christ ordained to be repeated, his memorial ne'er to cease. And his rule for guidance taking, bread and wine we hallow, making thus our sacrifice of peace. This the truth each Christian learns, bread into his flesh he turns, to his precious blood the wine.     Una lectura del libro de Génesis.
    Entonces Melquisedec, rey de Salem, trajo pan y vino, pues era sacerdote del “Dios Altísimo.” Melquisedec bendijo a Abram, diciendo: “Abram, bendito seas del Dios Altísimo, Creador del cielo y de la tierra. Y bendito sea el Dios Altísimo, porque entregó a tus enemigos en tus manos.” Y Abram le dio la décima parte de todo lo que llevaba.

    Salmo responsivo (Salmo 110) (Versículos 1–4)
    La respuesta es: Eres un sacerdote para siempre, a la manera de Melquisedec.
    • Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: “Siéntate a mi derecha, mientras yo pongo a tus enemigos como estrado de tus pies.”
    • El Señor extenderá el poder de tu cetro: “¡Domina desde Sión, en medio de tus enemigos!”

    Lo que yo recibí del Señor, y a mi vez les he transmitido, es lo siguiente: El Señor Jesús, la noche en que fue entregado, tomó el pan, dio gracias, lo partió y dijo: “Esto es mi Cuerpo, que se entrega por ustedes. Hagan esto en memoria mía.” De la misma manera, después de cenar, tomó la copa, diciendo: “Esta copa es la Nueva Alianza que se sella con mi Sangre. Siempre que la beban, háganlo en memoria mía.” Y así, siempre que coman este pan y beban esta copa, proclamarán la muerte del Señor hasta que él vuelva.

    Evangelio (Lucas 9: 11b–17)

    Jesús recibió la multitud, les habló del Reino de Dios y devolvió la salud a los que tenían necesidad de ser curados. Al caer la tarde, se acercaron los Doce y le dijeron: “Despide a la multitud, para que vayan a los pueblos y caseríos de los alrededores en busca de albergue y alimento, porque estamos en un lugar desierto.” Él les respondió: “Denles de comer ustedes mismos.” Pero ellos dijeron: “No tenemos más que cinco panes y dos pescados, a no ser que vayamos nosotros a comprar alimentos para toda esta gente.” Porque eran alrededor de cinco mil hombres. Entonces Jesús les dijo a sus discípulos: “Háganlos sentar en grupos de cincuenta.” Y ellos hicieron sentar a todos. Jesús tomó los cinco panes y los dos pescados y, levantando los ojos al cielo, pronunció sobre ellos la bendición, los partió y los fue entregando a sus discípulos para que se los sirviera a la multitud. Todos comieron hasta saciarse y con lo que sobró se llenaron doce canastas.

    なぜなら、以前あなたがたに伝えたとおり、聖餐式について、主ご自身がこう言われたからです。すなわち、ユダが主イエスを裏切った日の夜、主イエスはパンを取り、神に感謝の祈りをささげてから、ちぎって弟子たちに与え、こう言われました。「取って食べなさい。これは、あなたがたのために裂かれる、わたしの体です。わたしを思い出すために、このようにして食べなさい。」夕食の後、同じように杯を取って言われました。「この杯は、神とあなたがたとの間の新しい契約です。この契約は、わたしの血によって立てられ、効力を発します。これを飲むたびに、わたしを思い出すため、このようにしなさい。」ですから、あなたがたは、このパンを食べ、杯を飲むたびに、「主は私たちのために死んでくださった」という主の死の意味を、くり返し告白するわけです。主が再び来られる時まで続けなさい。

    人々の目を逃れることはできませんでした。大ぜいの群衆が、あとを追って来たのです。そのような彼らをイエスは心から喜んで迎え、神の国について教えたり、病人をいやしたりなさいました。そのうち、日も暮れ始めたので、十二人の弟子たちはイエスのところへ来て頼みました。「先生。この人たちを解散させてください。近くの村や農場に行って、食べ物と今夜の宿を見つけることができるようにしてやらなければ……。こんな寂しい所では、何もありませんから。」「いいえ。あなたがたで、みんなに食べ物をあげるのです。」イエスの答えに、弟子たちはあきれ顔で言いました。「手もとには、パンが五つと魚が二匹あるだけです。これだけ大ぜいの人が食べる物を買い出しに行けとおっしゃるのですか。」こう言うのも、むりはありません。男だけでも五千人はいたのですから。しかし、イエスは、「さあ、みんなを五十人ぐらいずつに分けて座らせなさい」と言われます。弟子たちは訳がわからないながらも、そのとおりにしました。そこでイエスは、五つのパンと二匹の魚を取り、天を見上げ、感謝の祈りをささげました。それからパンをちぎり、人々に配るため、弟子たちに手渡されました。みんなが食べて満腹したあと、パン切れを集めると、なんと十二かごにもなりました。
