First reading (Isaiah 56: 1 and 6–7)
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.
Thus says the LORD: Observe what is right, do what is just; for my salvation is about to come, my justice, about to be revealed. The foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, ministering to him, loving the name of the LORD, and becoming his servants—all who keep the Sabbath free from profanation and hold to my covenant, them I will bring to my holy mountain and make joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be acceptable on my altar, for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.
Second reading (Romans 11: 13–15 and 29–32)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.
Brothers and sisters: I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I glory in my ministry in order to make my race jealous and thus save some of them. For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. Just as you once disobeyed God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience, so they have now disobeyed in order that, by virtue of the mercy shown to you, they too may now receive mercy. For God delivered all to disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all.
Gospel (Matthew 15: 21–28)

At that time, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.” But Jesus did not say a word in answer to her. Jesus' disciples came and asked him, “Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.” He said in reply, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But the woman came and did Jesus homage, saying, “Lord, help me.” He said in reply, “It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters.” Then Jesus said to her in reply, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And the woman's daughter was healed from that hour.

This is what the Lord states: Maintain what is right and do what is just, for my salvation is close at hand, my justice is soon to come. Listen to me, you who are not Jews: I am spending myself as an apostle to the pagan nations, but I hope my ministry will be successful enough to awaken the jealousy of those of my race, and finally to save some of them. If the world made peace with God when they remained apart, what will it be when they are welcomed? Nothing less than a passing from death to life. The call of God and his gifts cannot be nullified. Through the rebellion of the Jews the mercy of God came to you who did not obey God. They in turn will receive mercy in due time after this rebellion that brought God's mercy to you. So God has submitted all to disobedience, in order to show his mercy to all.

Así dice el Señor: Actúen correctamente y hagan siempre lo debido, pues mi salvación se viene acercando y mi justicia está a punto de aparecer. Y a los extranjeros que se han puesto de parte del Señor, para obedecerle, amar su Nombre y ser sus servidores, que tratan de no profanar el sábado y que cumplen fielmente su compromiso conmigo, los llevaré a mi cerro santo y haré que se sientan felices en mi Casa de oración. Serán aceptados los holocaustos y los sacrificios que hagan sobre mi altar, ya que mi casa será llamada Casa de oración para todos los pueblos.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 67) (Versículos 2–3, 5–6 y 8)
La respuesta es: Oh Dios, ¡que te den gracias los pueblos!
• Que Dios tenga piedad y nos bendiga, haga brillar su rostro sobre nosotros, para que en la tierra se reconozca su dominio, y su victoria entre las naciones.

Porque si la exclusión de Israel trajo consigo la reconciliación del mundo, su reintegración, ¿no será un retorno a la vida? Porque los dones y el llamado de Dios son irrevocables. En efecto, ustedes antes desobedecieron a Dios, pero ahora, a causa de la desobediencia de ellos, han alcanzado misericordia. De la misma manera, ahora que ustedes han alcanzado misericordia, ellos se niegan a obedecer a Dios. Pero esto es para que ellos también alcancen misericordia. Porque Dios sometió a todos a la desobediencia, para tener misericordia de todos.

Jesús marchó de allí y se fue en dirección a las tierras de Tiro y Sidón. Una mujer cananea, que llegaba de ese territorio, empezó a gritar: “¡Señor, hijo de David, ten compasión de mí! Mi hija está atormentada por un demonio.” Pero Jesús no le contestó ni una palabra. Entonces sus discípulos se acercaron y le dijeron: “Atiéndela, mira cómo grita detrás de nosotros.” Jesús contestó: “No he sido enviado sino a las ovejas perdidas del pueblo de Israel.” Pero la mujer se acercó a Jesús y, puesta de rodillas, le decía: “¡Señor, ayúdame!” Jesús le dijo: “No se debe echar a los perros el pan de los hijos.” La mujer contestó: “Es verdad, Señor, pero también los perritos comen las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus amos.” Entonces Jesús le dijo: “Mujer, ¡qué grande es tu fe! Que se cumpla tu deseo.” Y en aquel momento quedó sana su hija.

Pues, si su rechazo ha sido reconciliación para el mundo, ¿qué no será su reintegración, sino resurrección de entre los muertos? Porque Dios no se arrepiente de sus dones ni de su elección. Así como ustedes antes eran rebeldes contra Dios y ahora han alcanzado su misericordia con ocasión de la rebeldía de los judíos, en la misma forma, los judíos, que ahora son los rebeldes y que fueron la ocasión de que ustedes alcanzaran la misericordia de Dios, también ellos la alcanzarán. En efecto, Dios ha permitido que todos cayéramos en la rebeldía, para manifestarnos a todos su misericordia.

Mi hija está terriblemente atormentada por un demonio". Jesús no le contestó una sola palabra; pero los discípulos se acercaron y le rogaban: "Atiéndela, porque viene gritando detrás de nosotros". Él les contestó: "Yo no he sido enviado sino a las ovejas descarriadas de la casa de Israel". Ella se acercó entonces a Jesús y postrada ante él, le dijo: "¡Señor, ayúdame!" Él le respondió: "No está bien quitarles el pan a los hijos para echárselo a los perritos". Pero ella replicó: "Es cierto, Señor; pero también los perritos se comen las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus amos". Entonces Jesús le respondió: "Mujer, ¡qué grande es tu fe! Que se cumpla lo que deseas". Y en aquel mismo instante quedó curada su hija.

Pertanto, ecco che cosa dico a voi, Gentili: come apostolo dei Gentili, io faccio onore al mio ministero, nella speranza di suscitare la gelosia di quelli del mio sangue e di salvarne alcuni. Se infatti il loro rifiuto ha segnato la riconciliazione del mondo, quale potrà mai essere la loro riammissione, se non una risurrezione dai morti? Perché i doni e la chiamata di Dio sono irrevocabili! Come voi un tempo siete stati disobbedienti a Dio e ora avete ottenuto misericordia per la loro disobbedienza, così anch'essi ora sono diventati disobbedienti in vista della misericordia usata verso di voi, perché anch'essi ottengano misericordia. Dio infatti ha rinchiuso tutti nella disobbedienza, per usare a tutti misericordia!

Partito di là, Gesù si diresse verso le parti di Tiro e Sidone. Ed ecco una donna Cananèa, che veniva da quelle regioni, si mise a gridare: “Pietà di me, Signore, figlio di Davide. Mia figlia è crudelmente tormentata da un demonio.” Ma egli non le rivolse neppure una parola. Allora i discepoli gli si accostarono implorando: “Esaudiscila, vedi come ci grida dietro.” Ma egli rispose: “Non sono stato inviato che alle pecore perdute della casa di Israele.” Ma quella venne e si prostrò dinanzi a lui dicendo: “Signore, aiutami!” Ed egli rispose: “Non è bene prendere il pane dei figli per gettarlo ai cagnolini.” “E' vero, Signore, disse la donna, ma anche i cagnolini si cibano delle briciole che cadono dalla tavola dei loro padroni.” Allora Gesù le replicò: “Donna, davvero grande è la tua fede! Ti sia fatto come desideri.” E da quell'istante sua figlia fu guarita.

Ginagawa ko ito upang inggitin ang aking mga kababayang Judio, at nang sa gayon ay maligtas kahit ang ilan sa kanila. Kung ang pagkatakwil sa kanila ay naging daan upang ipagkasundo sa Diyos ang sanlibutan, ang muling pagtanggap sa kanila ng Diyos ay matutulad sa muling pagkabuhay ng patay! Sapagkat hindi nagbabago ng isip ang Diyos tungkol sa kanyang mga kaloob at pagtawag. Noon, kayong mga Hentil ay hindi sumusunod sa Diyos, ngunit ngayon, kayo ay tumanggap ng habag ng Diyos nang sumuway ang mga Judio. Gayundin naman, dahil sa habag ng Diyos na inyong naranasan, sinusuway naman ngayon ng mga Judio ang Diyos, nang sa gayo'y maranasan din nila ngayon ang kanyang habag. Sapagkat hinayaan ng Diyos na maalipin sa pagsuway ang lahat ng tao upang maipadama niya sa kanila ang kanyang habag.

Umalis doon si Jesus at nagpunta sa lupaing malapit sa Tiro at Sidon. Isang Cananea na nakatira doon ang lumapit sa kanya na sumisigaw, “Panginoon, Anak ni David, maawa po kayo sa akin! Ang anak kong babae ay sinasapian ng demonyo at labis na pinapahirapan nito.” Ngunit hindi sumagot si Jesus. Lumapit ang kanyang mga alagad at sinabi kay Jesus, “Paalisin na nga po ninyo siya. Napakaingay niya at sunod nang sunod sa atin.” Sumagot si Jesus, “Sa mga naliligaw na tupa ng sambahayan ng Israel lamang ako isinugo.” Ngunit lumapit sa kanya ang babae, lumuhod ito at nagmakaawa, “Tulungan po ninyo ako, Panginoon.” Sumagot si Jesus, “Hindi dapat kunin ang pagkain ng mga bata at ibigay sa mga aso.” “Totoo nga, Panginoon. Ngunit ang mga aso man po ay kumakain ng mumong nalalaglag sa hapag ng kanilang panginoon,” tugon ng babae. At sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Ginang, napakalaki ng iyong pananampalataya! Mangyayari ang hinihiling mo.” At noon di'y gumaling ang kanyang anak.

Beginilah firman TUHAN: Taatilah hukum dan tegakkanlah keadilan, sebab sebentar lagi akan datang keselamatan yang dari pada-Ku, dan keadilan-Ku akan dinyatakan. Dan orang-orang asing yang menggabungkan diri kepada TUHAN untuk melayani Dia, untuk mengasihi nama TUHAN dan untuk menjadi hamba-hamba-Nya, semuanya yang memelihara hari Sabat dan tidak menajiskannya, dan yang berpegang kepada perjanjian-Ku, mereka akan Kubawa ke gunung-Ku yang kudus dan akan Kuberi kesukaan di rumah doa-Ku. Aku akan berkenan kepada korban-korban bakaran dan korban-korban sembelihan mereka yang dipersembahkan di atas mezbah-Ku, sebab rumah-Ku akan disebut rumah doa bagi segala bangsa.

Aku berkata kepada kamu, hai bangsa-bangsa bukan Yahudi. Justru karena aku adalah rasul untuk bangsa-bangsa bukan Yahudi, aku menganggap hal itu kemuliaan pelayananku, yaitu kalau-kalau aku dapat membangkitkan cemburu di dalam hati kaum sebangsaku menurut daging dan dapat menyelamatkan beberapa orang dari mereka. Sebab jika penolakan mereka berarti perdamaian bagi dunia, dapatkah penerimaan mereka mempunyai arti lain dari pada hidup dari antara orang mati? Sebab Allah tidak menyesali kasih karunia dan panggilan-Nya. Sebab sama seperti kamu dahulu tidak taat kepada Allah, tetapi sekarang beroleh kemurahan oleh ketidaktaatan mereka, demikian juga mereka sekarang tidak taat, supaya oleh kemurahan yang telah kamu peroleh, mereka juga akan beroleh kemurahan. Sebab Allah telah mengurung semua orang dalam ketidaktaatan, supaya Ia dapat menunjukkan kemurahan-Nya atas mereka semua.

Jawab Yesus: "Aku diutus hanya kepada domba-domba yang hilang dari umat Israel." Tetapi perempuan itu mendekat dan menyembah Dia sambil berkata: "Tuhan, tolonglah aku." Tetapi Yesus menjawab: "Tidak patut mengambil roti yang disediakan bagi anak-anak dan melemparkannya kepada anjing." Kata perempuan itu: "Benar Tuhan, namun anjing itu makan remah-remah yang jatuh dari meja tuannya." Maka Yesus menjawab dan berkata kepadanya: "Hai ibu, besar imanmu, maka jadilah kepadamu seperti yang kaukehendaki." Dan seketika itu juga anaknya sembuh.

外国人の方々に言いますが、神は私を、あなたがた外国人への使徒に任命してくださったので、私はそれを大切な使命としています。しかし何とかして、ユダヤ人にも、あなたがた外国人が持っているものを求めさせ、幾人かでも救いたいのです。彼らがクリスチャンになったら、どんなにすばらしいでしょう。神がユダヤ人から御顔をそむけられたために、神の救いが、世界のユダヤ人以外の人々に差し出されたのです。とすれば、ユダヤ人がキリストに立ち返るなら、もっとすばらしいことが起こります。それはちょうど、死者が生き返るようなものです。神の賜物と招きは決して取り消されないからです。あなたがたは以前は神に逆らっていましたが、ユダヤ人が神の賜物を拒んだので、代わりに神のあわれみを受けることになりました。そして今、ユダヤ人は神に逆らっていますが、いつの日か彼らもまた、あなたがたの受けている慈しみとあわれみを共に受けるようになるのです。なぜなら、神はすべての人を同じようにあわれもうとして、すべての人が不従順の罪に落ちるままにされたからです。
福音書（マタイ第15章：第21詩–第28詩）
この読み物はマタイの福音書です。
イエスはその地方を去り、ツロとシドンに向かわれました。この地方に住んでいるカナン人の女がイエスのところに来て、必死に願いました。「主よ。ダビデ王の子よ！お願いです。どうか、私をあわれと思ってお助けください。娘が悪霊に取りつかれて、ひどく苦しんでいるのです。」しかし、イエスは堅く口を閉ざして、ひとこともお答えになりません。とうとう弟子たちが、「あの女に早く帰るように言ってください。うるさくてしかたがありません」と頼みました。それでイエスは、「わたしが遣わされたのは、外国人を助けるためではありません。ユダヤ人を助けるためです」と説明なさいました。それでも女は、イエスの前にひれ伏し、「主よ。どうかお助けください」と願い続けました。イエスは、「子どもたちのパンを取り上げて、犬に投げてやるのはよくないことです」と言われました。しかし、女はあきらめませんでした。「おっしゃるとおりです。でも、食卓の下にいる小犬でも、落ちたパンくずぐらいは食べさせてもらえます。」そのことばにイエスは感心し、「あなたの信仰は見上げたものです。いいでしょう。願いをかなえてあげましょう」と言われました。その時から、彼女の娘は治りました。
第一読み物（イザヤ書第56章：第1詩と第6詩–第7詩）

主はこう言われる。正義を守り、恵みの業を行え。わたしの救いが実現しわたしの恵みの業が現れるのは間近い。また、主のもとに集って来た異邦人が主に仕え、主の名を愛し、その僕となり安息日を守り、それを汚すことなくわたしの契約を固く守るならわたしは彼らを聖なるわたしの山に導きわたしの祈りの家の喜びの祝いに連なることを許す。彼らが焼き尽くす献げ物といけにえをささげるならわたしの祭壇で、わたしはそれを受け入れる。わたしの家は、すべての民の祈りの家と呼ばれる。
第二読み物（ローマの信徒第11章：第13詩–第15詩と第29詩–第32詩）
この読み物はローマの信徒への手紙です。
では、あなたがた異邦人に言います。わたしは異邦人のための使徒であるので、自分の務めを光栄に思います。何とかして自分の同胞にねたみを起こさせ、その幾人かでも救いたいのです。もし彼らの捨てられることが、世界の和解となるならば、彼らが受け入れられることは、死者の中からの命でなくて何でしょう。神の賜物と招きとは取り消されないものなのです。あなたがたは、かつては神に不従順でしたが、今は彼らの不従順によって憐れみを受けています。それと同じように、彼らも、今はあなたがたが受けた憐れみによって不従順になっていますが、それは、彼ら自身も今憐れみを受けるためなのです。神はすべての人を不従順の状態に閉じ込められましたが、それは、すべての人を憐れむためだったのです。
