New American Bible readings
First reading (Acts 4: 32–35)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. With great power, the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale, and put them at the feet of the apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need.
Second reading (1 John 5: 1–6)
A reading from the first letter of Saint John.
Beloved: Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the Father loves also the one begotten by him. In this way, we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey his commandments. For the love of God is this, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith. Who indeed is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is the one who came through water and blood, Jesus Christ, not by water alone, but by water and blood. The Spirit is the one that testifies, and the Spirit is truth.
Gospel (John 20: 19–31)

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe." Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe." Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed." Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

Beloved: All those who believe that Jesus is the Anointed, are born of God; if you love the Father you also love all those born of him. How may we know that we love the children of God? If we love God and fulfill his commands, for God's love requires us to keep his commands. In fact, his commandments are not a burden because all those born of God overcome the world. And the victory which overcomes the world is our faith. Who has overcome the world? The one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus Christ was acknowledged through water, but also through blood. Not only water but water and blood. And the Spirit, too, witnesses to him for the Spirit is truth.
Gospel (John 20: 19–31)

He stated to them, "Peace be with you"; then he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples kept looking at the Lord and were full of joy. Again Jesus stated to them, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." After stating this he breathed on them and stated to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit; for those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained." Thomas, the Twin, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he replied, "Until I have seen in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe." Eight days later, the disciples were inside again and Thomas was with them. Despite the locked doors Jesus came and stood in their midst and stated, "Peace be with you." Then he stated to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands; stretch out your hand and put it into my side. Resist no longer and be a believer." Thomas then stated, "You are my Lord and my God." Jesus replied, "You believe because you see me, do you not? Happy are those who have not seen and believe." There were many other signs that Jesus gave in the presence of his disciples, but they are not recorded in this book. These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; believe and you will have life through his Name.

Let the house of Israel say, “His mercy endures forever.” Let the house of Aaron say, “His mercy endures forever.” Let those who fear the LORD say, “His mercy endures forever.”
I was hard pressed and was falling, but the LORD helped me. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior. The joyful shout of victory in the tents of the just.
The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. By the LORD has this been done; it is wonderful in our eyes. This is the day the LORD has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it.

I was pushed hard and about to fall, but the Lord came to my help. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. Joyful shouts of victory are heard in the tents of the just.
The stone rejected by the builders has become the keystone. This was the Lord's doing, and we marvel at it. This is the day the Lord has made; so let us rejoice and be glad.

Primera lectura (Hechos de los apóstoles: 4: 32–35)

Todos los creyentes, que ya eran muchos, pensaban y sentían de la misma manera. Ninguno decía que sus cosas fueran solo suyas, sino que eran de todos. Los apóstoles seguían dando un poderoso testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús, y Dios los bendecía mucho a todos. No había entre ellos ningún necesitado, porque quienes poseían terrenos o casas los vendían, y el dinero lo ponían a disposición de los apóstoles para repartirlo entre todos según las necesidades de cada uno.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 118) (Versículos 2–4, 13–15 y 22–24)
La respuesta es: Den gracias al Señor porque él es bueno, su amor es eterno.
• Que lo diga el pueblo de Israel: ¡es eterno su amor! Que lo diga la familia de Aarón: ¡es eterno su amor! Que lo digan los que temen al Señor: ¡es eterno su amor!
• Me empujaron con violencia para derribarme, pero el Señor vino en mi ayuda. Un grito de alegría y de victoria resuena en las carpas de los justos: la mano del Señor hace proezas.
• La piedra que fue rechazada por los constructores ha llegado a ser la piedra angular. Esto ha sido hecho por el Señor y es admirable a nuestros ojos. Éste es el día que hizo el Señor: alegrémonos y regocijémonos en él.
Segunda lectura (1 Juan 5: 1–6)

Todo el que cree que Jesús es el Mesías ha nacido de Dios. Si amamos al que da la vida, amamos también a quienes han nacido de él; y por eso, cuando amamos a Dios y cumplimos sus mandatos, con toda certeza sabemos que amamos a los hijos de Dios. Amar a Dios es guardar sus mandatos, y sus mandatos no son una carga. Todo lo que ha nacido de Dios vence al mundo, y la victoria en que el mundo ha sido vencido es nuestra fe. ¿Quién ha vencido al mundo sino el que cree que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios? El es el que viene por el agua y la sangre: Jesucristo; y no sólo por el agua, sino por el agua y la sangre; y el espíritu también da su testimonio, el Espíritu que es la verdad.
Evangelio (Juan 20: 19–31)

Al atardecer de ese mismo día, el primero de la semana, estando cerradas las puertas del lugar donde se encontraban los discípulos, por temor a los judíos, llegó Jesús y poniéndose en medio de ellos, les dijo: “¡La paz esté con ustedes!” Mientras decía esto, les mostró sus manos y su costado. Los discípulos se llenaron de alegría cuando vieron al Señor. Jesús les dijo de nuevo: “¡La paz esté con ustedes! Como el Padre me envió a mí, yo también los envío a ustedes.” Al decirles esto, sopló sobre ellos y añadió, “Reciban al Espíritu Santo. Los pecados serán perdonados a los que ustedes se los perdonen, y serán retenidos a los que ustedes se los retengan.” Tomás, uno de los Doce, de sobrenombre el Mellizo, no estaba con ellos cuando llegó Jesús. Los otros discípulos le dijeron: “¡Hemos visto al Señor!” Él les respondió: “Si no veo la marca de los clavos en sus manos, si no pongo el dedo en el lugar de los clavos y la mano en su costado, no lo creeré.” Ocho días más tarde, estaban de nuevo los discípulos reunidos en la casa, y estaba con ellos Tomás. Entonces apareció Jesús, estando cerradas las puertas, se puso en medio de ellos y les dijo: “¡La paz esté con ustedes!” Luego dijo a Tomás: “Trae aquí tu dedo: aquí están mis manos. Acerca tu mano: Métela en mi costado. En adelante no seas incrédulo, sino hombre de fe.” Tomas respondió: “¡Señor mío y Dios mío!” Jesús le dijo: “Ahora crees, porque me has visto. ¡Felices los que creen sin haber visto!” Jesús realizó además muchos otros signos en presencia de sus discípulos, que no se encuentran relatados en este Libro. Estos han sido escritos para que ustedes crean que Jesús es el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios, y creyendo, tengan Vida en su Nombre.

Adapun kumpulan orang yang telah percaya itu, mereka sehati dan sejiwa, dan tidak seorangpun yang berkata, bahwa sesuatu dari kepunyaannya adalah miliknya sendiri, tetapi segala sesuatu adalah kepunyaan mereka bersama. Dan dengan kuasa yang besar rasul-rasul memberi kesaksian tentang kebangkitan Tuhan Yesus dan mereka semua hidup dalam kasih karunia yang melimpah-limpah. Sebab tidak ada seorangpun yang berkekurangan di antara mereka; karena semua orang yang mempunyai tanah atau rumah, menjual kepunyaannya itu, dan hasil penjualan itu mereka bawa dan mereka letakkan di depan kaki rasul-rasul; lalu dibagi-bagikan kepada setiap orang sesuai dengan keperluannya.
Mazmur (Mazmur 118) (Ayat 2–4, 13–15 dan 22–24)
Tanggapan adalah: Bersyukurlah kepada Tuhan, sebab Ia baik. Bahwasanya untuk selama-lamanya kasih setia-Nya.
• Biarlah Israel berkata: "Bahwasanya untuk selama-lamanya kasih setia-Nya!" Biarlah kaum Harun berkata: "Bahwasanya untuk selama-lamanya kasih setia-Nya!" Biarlah orang yang takut akan TUHAN berkata: "Bahwasanya untuk selama-lamanya kasih setia-Nya!"
• Aku ditolak dengan hebat sampai jatuh, tetapi TUHAN menolong aku. TUHAN itu kekuatanku dan mazmurku; Ia telah menjadi keselamatanku. Suara sorak-sorai dan kemenangan di kemah orang-orang benar: “Tangan kanan TUHAN melakukan keperkasaan.”
• Batu yang dibuang oleh tukang-tukang bangunan telah menjadi batu penjuru. Hal itu terjadi dari pihak TUHAN, suatu perbuatan ajaib di mata kita. Inilah hari yang dijadikan TUHAN, marilah kita bersorak-sorak dan bersukacita karenanya!
Bacaan kedua (1 Yohanes 5: 1–6)

Setiap orang yang percaya, bahwa Yesus adalah Kristus, lahir dari Allah; dan setiap orang yang mengasihi Dia yang melahirkan, mengasihi juga Dia yang lahir dari pada-Nya. Inilah tandanya, bahwa kita mengasihi anak-anak Allah, yaitu apabila kita mengasihi Allah serta melakukan perintah-perintah-Nya. Sebab inilah kasih kepada Allah, yaitu, bahwa kita menuruti perintah-perintah-Nya. Perintah-perintah-Nya itu tidak berat, sebab semua yang lahir dari Allah, mengalahkan dunia. Dan inilah kemenangan yang mengalahkan dunia: iman kita. Siapakah yang mengalahkan dunia, selain dari pada dia yang percaya, bahwa Yesus adalah Anak Allah? Inilah Dia yang telah datang dengan air dan darah, yaitu Yesus Kristus, bukan saja dengan air, tetapi dengan air dan dengan darah. Dan Rohlah yang memberi kesaksian, karena Roh adalah kebenaran.

Pada waktu itu datanglah Yesus dan berdiri di tengah-tengah mereka dan berkata: "Damai sejahtera bagi kamu!" Dan sesudah berkata demikian, Ia menunjukkan tangan-Nya dan lambung-Nya kepada mereka. Murid-murid itu bersukacita ketika mereka melihat Tuhan. Maka kata Yesus sekali lagi: "Damai sejahtera bagi kamu! Sama seperti Bapa mengutus Aku, demikian juga sekarang Aku mengutus kamu." Dan sesudah berkata demikian, Ia mengembusi mereka dan berkata: "Terimalah Roh Kudus. Jikalau kamu mengampuni dosa orang, dosanya diampuni, dan jikalau kamu menyatakan dosa orang tetap ada, dosanya tetap ada." Tetapi Tomas, seorang dari kedua belas murid itu, yang disebut Didimus, tidak ada bersama-sama mereka, ketika Yesus datang ke situ. Maka kata murid-murid yang lain itu kepadanya: "Kami telah melihat Tuhan!" Tetapi Tomas berkata kepada mereka: "Sebelum aku melihat bekas paku pada tangan-Nya dan sebelum aku mencucukkan jariku ke dalam bekas paku itu dan mencucukkan tanganku ke dalam lambung-Nya, sekali-kali aku tidak akan percaya." Delapan hari kemudian murid-murid Yesus berada kembali dalam rumah itu dan Tomas bersama-sama dengan mereka. Sementara pintu-pintu terkunci, Yesus datang dan Ia berdiri di tengah-tengah mereka dan berkata: "Damai sejahtera bagi kamu!" Kemudian Ia berkata kepada Tomas: "Taruhlah jarimu di sini dan lihatlah tangan-Ku, ulurkanlah tanganmu dan cucukkan ke dalam lambung-Ku dan jangan engkau tidak percaya lagi, melainkan percayalah." Tomas menjawab Dia: "Ya Tuhanku dan Allahku!" Kata Yesus kepadanya: "Karena engkau telah melihat Aku, maka engkau percaya. Berbahagialah mereka yang tidak melihat, namun percaya." Memang masih banyak tanda lain yang dibuat Yesus di depan mata murid-murid-Nya, yang tidak tercatat dalam kitab ini, tetapi semua yang tercantum di sini telah dicatat, supaya kamu percaya, bahwa Yesuslah Mesias, Anak Allah, dan supaya kamu oleh imanmu memperoleh hidup dalam nama-Nya.

Nagkaisa ang damdamin at isipan ng lahat ng mananampalataya, at di itinuring ninuman na sarili niya ang kanyang mga ari-arian, kundi para sa lahat. Taglay ang dakilang kapangyarihan, ang mga apostol ay patuloy na nagpapatotoo tungkol sa muling pagkabuhay ng Panginoong Jesus. At ang masaganang pagpapala ay tinaglay nilang lahat. Walang kinakapos sa kanila sapagkat ipinagbibili nila ang kani-kanilang lupa o bahay, at ang pinagbilhan ay ipinagkakatiwala nila sa mga apostol. Ipinamamahagi naman iyon ayon sa pangangailangan ng bawat isa.
Ikalawang pagbasa (1 Juan 5: 1–6)
Ang pagbasa sa unang sulat ni San Juan.
Ang bawat sumasampalataya na si Jesus ang siyang Cristo ay anak ng Diyos. At ang sinumang umiibig sa ama ay umiibig din sa anak. Ito ang palatandaang iniibig natin ang mga anak ng Diyos: kung iniibig natin ang Diyos at tinutupad ang kanyang mga utos, sapagkat ang tunay na pag-ibig sa Diyos ay ang pagtupad sa kanyang mga utos. Hindi naman napakahirap sundin ang kanyang mga utos, sapagkat napapagtagumpayan ng mga anak ng Diyos ang sanlibutan; at nagtatagumpay tayo sa pamamagitan ng pananampalataya. Sino ang nagtatagumpay laban sa sanlibutan? Ang sumasampalataya na si Jesus ang Anak ng Diyos.
Ebanghelyo (Juan 20: 19–31)

Kinagabihan ng araw ding iyon na unang araw ng linggo, habang nakasara ang mga pinto ng bahay na kinaroroonan ng mga alagad dahil sa takot nila sa mga Judio, dumating si Jesus. Tumayo siya sa kalagitnaan nila at sinabi, “Sumainyo ang kapayapaan!” Pagkasabi nito, ipinakita niya ang kanyang mga kamay at ang kanyang tagiliran. Tuwang-tuwa ang mga alagad nang makita nila ang Panginoon. Muling sinabi ni Jesus, “Sumainyo ang kapayapaan! Kung paanong isinugo ako ng Ama, isinusugo ko rin kayo.” Pagkatapos, sila'y hiningahan niya at sinabi, “Tanggapin ninyo ang Espiritu Santo. Kung patatawarin ninyo ang mga kasalanan ninuman ay pinatawad na ang mga iyon, subalit ang hindi ninyo patatawarin ay hindi nga pinatawad.” Ngunit si Tomas, na tinatawag na Kambal at kabilang sa Labindalawa, ay wala roon nang dumating si Jesus. Kaya't sinabi sa kanya ng ibang mga alagad, “Nakita namin ang Panginoon!” Sumagot si Tomas, “Hindi ako maniniwala hangga't hindi ko nakikita ang mga butas ng mga pako sa kanyang mga kamay, at hangga't hindi ko nailalagay ang aking daliri sa mga iyon at nahahawakan ang kanyang tagiliran.” Makalipas ang isang linggo, muling nagkatipon sa loob ng bahay ang mga alagad at kasama nila si Tomas. Nakasara ang mga pinto, ngunit pumasok si Jesus at tumayo sa kalagitnaan nila. Sinabi niya, “Sumainyo ang kapayapaan!” At sinabi niya kay Tomas, “Ilagay mo ang iyong daliri dito at tingnan mo ang aking mga kamay. Ilagay mo ang iyong kamay sa aking tagiliran. Huwag ka nang mag-alinlangan pa, sa halip ay maniwala ka.” Sumagot si Tomas, “Panginoon ko at Diyos ko!” Sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Naniniwala ka na ba dahil nakita mo ako? Pinagpala silang hindi nakakita gayunma'y naniniwala.” Marami pang mga himalang ginawa si Jesus na nasaksihan ng mga alagad na hindi nakasulat sa aklat na ito. Ngunit ang mga nakasulat dito ay isinulat upang kayo'y sumampalataya na si Jesus ang Cristo, ang Anak ng Diyos, at sa pagsampalatayang iyon ay magkaroon kayo ng buhay sa pamamagitan niya.

• Sinalakay ako't halos magtagumpay ang mga kaaway, subalit ang Panginoon, ako'y tinutulungan. Ang Panginoon ang lakas ko't kapangyarihan; siya ang sa aki'y nagdulot ng kaligtasan. Dinggin ang masayang sigawan sa tolda ng mga hinirang: “Ang Panginoon ay siyang lakas na patnubay!”
• Ang batong itinakwil ng mga tagapagtayo ng bahay, ang siyang naging batong-panulukan. Ginawa ito ng Panginoon at ito'y kahanga-hangang pagmasdan. O kahanga-hanga ang araw na itong ang Panginoon ang nagbigay, tayo ay magalak, ating ipagdiwang!

さて、イエスを信じた人たちは、心と思いを一つにし、だれ一人財産を惜しむ者がなく、すべてのものを平等に分け合っていました。使徒たちは主イエスの復活を力強く語り、すべての者の上に恵みがありました。土地や家を持っている者はそれを売り払い、代金を使徒たちのところに持って来ました。そのお金は必要に応じてみんなに分配されたので、貧しい者は一人もいませんでした。
第二読み物（ヨハネの手紙一第5章：第1詩–第6詩）
この読み物はヨハネの第一手紙です。
イエスはキリストである、すなわち、神の子であり救い主であると信じるなら、その人は神の子どもです。父なる神を愛する人はみな、神の子どもたちを愛するはずです。そういうわけで、あなたがたがどれだけ神を愛し、従っているかで、神の子どもたちに対する愛がわかるのです。神を愛するとは、そのご命令を守ることです。決してむずかしいことではありません。神の子どもたちはみな、神に従います。そして、キリストに信頼することによって、この世の悪に打ち勝つことができるのです。イエスを神の子であると信じる人以外に、世との戦いに勝てる人はいません。私たちは、イエスが神の子であると知っています。なぜなら、イエスがバプテスマ（洗礼）を受けられた時、そして、イエスが十字架の死を目前にされた時、天からの神の声がそのことを証言したからです。さらに、永遠に真実である聖霊も、そう証言しておられます。

同じ日曜日の夕方のことです。弟子たちは、ユダヤ人を恐れて戸にしっかりかぎをかけ、肩を寄せ合うようにして集まっていました。その時、突然イエスが一同の中にお立ちになったのです。「平安があるように。」イエスはまず、こうあいさつされてから、手とわき腹をお見せになりました。主を見た弟子たちの喜びは、どれほどだったでしょう。イエスはもう一度言われました。「平安があるように。父がわたしをお遣わしになったように、わたしもあなたがたを遣わします。」そして一同に息を吹きかけ、また言われました。「聖霊を受けなさい。あなたがたが赦すなら、だれの罪も赦されます。あなたがたが赦さない罪は赦されません。」十二弟子の一人のトマスは、その時、その場に居合わせませんでした。それでみんなが、「ほんとうだ。主にお会いしたんだ」と口をすっぱくして話しましたが、本気にしません。頑としてこう言いはるばかりです。「主の御手に釘あとを見、この指をそこに差し入れ、この手を主のわき腹に差し入れてみなければ、信じない。」八日たちました。その日も、弟子たちは集まっていました。今度はトマスもいっしょです。戸にはかぎがかかっていましたが、突然、前の時と同じようにイエスが一同の中に立ち、「平安があるように」とあいさつなさいました。それからイエスは、トマスにおっしゃいました。「さあ、あなたの指をこの手に当ててみなさい。あなたの手をこのわき腹に差し入れてみなさい。いつまでも疑っていないで信じなさい。」「ああ、わが主、わが神よ！」感きわまって、トマスは叫びました。「わたしを見たから信じたのですか。しかし、見なくても信じる者は幸いです。」私がこの書に記した奇跡のほかにも、もっと多くの奇跡をイエスが行われるのを、弟子たちは見ました。しかし、これらのことを特に書いたのは、あなたがたがイエスは神の子キリストであると信じるため、またそう信じていのちを得るためです。

信じた人々の群れは心も思いも一つにし、一人として持ち物を自分のものだと言う者はなく、すべてを共有していた。使徒たちは、大いなる力をもって主イエスの復活を証しし、皆、人々から非常に好意を持たれていた。信者の中には、一人も貧しい人がいなかった。土地や家を持っている人が皆、それを売っては代金を持ち寄り、使徒たちの足もとに置き、その金は必要に応じて、おのおのに分配されたからである。
第二読み物（ヨハネの手紙一第5章：第1詩–第6詩）
この読み物はヨハネの第一手紙です。
イエスがメシアであると信じる人は皆、神から生まれた者です。そして、生んでくださった方を愛する人は皆、その方から生まれた者をも愛します。このことから明らかなように、わたしたちが神を愛し、その掟を守るときはいつも、神の子供たちを愛します。神を愛するとは、神の掟を守ることです。神の掟は難しいものではありません。神から生まれた人は皆、世に打ち勝つからです。世に打ち勝つ勝利、それはわたしたちの信仰です。だれが世に打ち勝つか。イエスが神の子であると信じる者ではありませんか。この方は、水と血を通って来られた方、イエス・キリストです。水だけではなく、水と血とによって来られたのです。そして、“霊”はこのことを証しする方です。“霊”は真理だからです。
福音書（ヨハネ第20章：第19詩–第31詩）

Prima lettura (Atti 4: 32–35)

La moltitudine di coloro che eran venuti alla fede aveva un cuore solo e un'anima sola e nessuno diceva sua proprietà quello che gli apparteneva, ma ogni cosa era fra loro comune. Con grande forza gli apostoli rendevano testimonianza della risurrezione del Signore Gesù e tutti essi godevano di grande simpatia. Nessuno infatti tra loro era bisognoso, perché quanti possedevano campi o case li vendevano, portavano l'importo di ciò che era stato venduto e lo deponevano ai piedi degli apostoli; e poi veniva distribuito a ciascuno secondo il bisogno.
Seconda lettura (1 Giovanni 5: 1–6)
Una lettura della prima lettera di Giovanni.
Chiunque crede che Gesù è il Cristo, è nato da Dio; e chi ama colui che ha generato, ama anche chi da lui è stato generato. Da questo conosciamo di amare i figli di Dio: se amiamo Dio e ne osserviamo i comandamenti, perché in questo consiste l'amore di Dio, nell'osservare i suoi comandamenti; e i suoi comandamenti non sono gravosi. Tutto ciò che è nato da Dio vince il mondo; e questa è la vittoria che ha sconfitto il mondo: la nostra fede. E chi è che vince il mondo se non chi crede che Gesù è il Figlio di Dio? Questi è colui che è venuto con acqua e sangue, Gesù Cristo; non con acqua soltanto, ma con l'acqua e con il sangue. Ed è lo Spirito che rende testimonianza, perché lo Spirito è la verità.
Vangelo (Giovanni 20: 19–31)
Una lettura dal Santo Vangelo secondo San Giovanni.
La sera di quello stesso giorno, il primo dopo il sabato, mentre erano chiuse le porte del luogo dove si trovavano i discepoli per timore dei Giudei, venne Gesù, si fermò in mezzo a loro e disse: “Pace a voi!” Detto questo, mostrò loro le mani e il costato. E i discepoli gioirono al vedere il Signore. Gesù disse loro di nuovo: “Pace a voi! Come il Padre ha mandato me, anch'io mando voi.” Dopo aver detto questo, alitò su di loro e disse: “Ricevete lo Spirito Santo; a chi rimetterete i peccati saranno rimessi e a chi non li rimetterete, resteranno non rimessi.” Tommaso, uno dei Dodici, chiamato Dìdimo, non era con loro quando venne Gesù. Gli dissero allora gli altri discepoli: “Abbiamo visto il Signore!” Ma egli disse loro: “Se non vedo nelle sue mani il segno dei chiodi e non metto il dito nel posto dei chiodi e non metto la mia mano nel suo costato, non crederò.” Otto giorni dopo i discepoli erano di nuovo in casa e c'era con loro anche Tommaso. Venne Gesù, a porte chiuse, si fermò in mezzo a loro e disse: “Pace a voi!” Poi disse a Tommaso: “Metti qua il tuo dito e guarda le mie mani; stendi la tua mano, e mettila nel mio costato; e non essere più incredulo ma credente!” Rispose Tommaso: “Mio Signore e mio Dio!” Gesù gli disse: “Perché mi hai veduto, hai creduto: beati quelli che pur non avendo visto crederanno!” Molti altri segni fece Gesù in presenza dei suoi discepoli, ma non sono stati scritti in questo libro. Questi sono stati scritti, perché crediate che Gesù è il Cristo, il Figlio di Dio e perché, credendo, abbiate la vita nel suo nome.
