New American Bible readings
First reading (Acts 10: 34a and 37–43)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
Peter proceeded to speak and said: "You know what has happened all over Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree. This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible, not to all the people, but to us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commissioned us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name."
Second reading (Colossians 3: 1–4) (Option 1)

Brothers and sisters: If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.
Second reading (1 Corinthians 5: 6b–8) (Option 2)
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.
Brothers and sisters: Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all the dough? Clear out the old yeast, so that you may become a fresh batch of dough, inasmuch as you are unleavened. For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed. Therefore, let us celebrate the feast, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Gospel (John 20: 1–9) (Option 1)

On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him." So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.
Gospel (Mark 16: 1–7) (Option 2)

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go and anoint him. Very early when the sun had risen, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb. They were saying to one another, "Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?" When they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back; it was very large. On entering the tomb they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe, and they were utterly amazed. He said to them, "Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him. But go and tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you.'"
Gospel (Luke 24: 13–35) (Option 3)

That very day, the first day of the week, two of Jesus' disciples were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. He asked them, "What are you discussing as you walk along?" They stopped, looking downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?" And he replied to them, "What sort of things?" They said to him, "The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him. But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel; and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive. Then some of those with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see." And he said to them, "Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?" Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the Scriptures. As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on farther. But they urged him, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?" So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem where they found gathered together the eleven and those with them who were saying, "The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!" Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of bread.

So then, brothers and sisters: If you are risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on earthly things. For you have died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, reveals himself, you also will be revealed with him in Glory.

Do you not know that a little yeast makes the whole mass of dough rise? Throw out, then, the old yeast and be new dough. If Christ became our Passover, you should be unleavened bread. Let us celebrate, therefore, the Passover, no longer with old yeast, which is sin and perversity; let us have unleavened bread, that is purity and sincerity.
Gospel (John 20: 1–9) (Option 1)

Now, on the first day after the Sabbath, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark and she saw that the stone blocking the tomb had been moved away. She ran to Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved. And she stated to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb and we do not know where they have laid him." Peter then set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down and saw the linen cloths lying flat, but he did not enter. Then Simon Peter came following him and entered the tomb; he, too, saw the linen cloths lying flat. The napkin, which had been around his head was not lying flat like the other linen cloths but lay rolled up in its place. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and believed. Scripture clearly stated that he must rise from the dead, but they had not yet understood that.

And he asked, "What is it?" They replied, "It is about Jesus of Nazareth. He was a prophet, you know, mighty in word and deed before God and the people. But the chief priests and our rulers sentenced him to death. They handed him over to be crucified. We had hoped that he would redeem Israel. It is now the third day since all this took place. It is true that some women of our group have disturbed us. When they went to the tomb at dawn, they did not find his body; they came to tell us that they had seen a vision of angels who told them that Jesus was alive. Some friends of our group went to the tomb and found everything just as the women had stated, but they did not see him." He stated to them, "How dull you are, how slow of understanding! You fail to believe the message of the prophets. Is it not written that the Christ should suffer all this and then enter his glory?" Then starting with Moses and going through the prophets, he explained to them everything in the Scriptures concerning himself. As they drew near the village they were heading for, Jesus made as if to go farther. But they prevailed upon him, "Stay with us, for night comes quickly. The day is now almost over." So he went in to stay with them. When they were at table, he took the bread, stated a blessing, broke it and gave each a piece. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; but he vanished out of their sight And they stated to each other, "Were not our hearts filled with ardent yearning when he was talking to us on the road and explaining the Scriptures?" They immediately set out and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and their companions gathered together. They were greeted by these words: "Yes, it is true, the Lord is risen! He has appeared to Simon!" Then the two told what had happened on the road and how Jesus made himself known when he broke bread with them.
Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 118) (Verses 1–2, 16–17, and 22–23)

The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. By the LORD has this been done; it is wonderful in our eyes.

The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone. This was the Lord's doing, and we marvel at it.

"The tomb of Christ, who is living, the glory of Jesus' resurrection; bright angels attesting, the shroud and napkin resting. Yes, Christ my hope is arisen; to Galilee he goes before you." Christ indeed from death is risen, our new life obtaining. Have mercy, victor King, ever reigning! Amen. Alleluia.

Uno de ellos, llamado Cleofás, le contestó: “¿Cómo? ¿Eres tú el único peregrino en Jerusalén que no está enterado de lo que ha pasado aquí estos días?” “¿Qué pasó?”, les preguntó. Le contestaron: “¡Todo el asunto de Jesús Nazareno!” Era un profeta poderoso en obras y palabras, reconocido por Dios y por todo el pueblo. Pero nuestros sumos sacerdotes y nuestros jefes renegaron de él, lo hicieron condenar a muerte y clavar en la cruz. Nosotros pensábamos que él sería el que debía libertar a Israel. Kapwa sila tumakbo ngunit si Pedro'y naunahan noong isa. Yumuko ito at sumilip sa loob ng libingan ngunit hindi pumasok. Nakita niyang nakalagay doon ang mga telang lino. Nang dumating si Simon Pedro, tuluy-tuloy itong pumasok sa libingan at nakita nito ang mga telang lino, at ang panyong ibinalot sa ulo ni Jesus. Ang panyo ay hindi kasama ng mga telang lino, kundi hiwalay na nakatiklop sa isang tabi. Pumasok din ang alagad na naunang dumating at nakita niya ito, at siya'y naniwala. Hindi pa nila nauunawaan noon na si Jesus ay kailangang muling mabuhay ayon sa kasulatan.

Dan kami adalah saksi dari segala sesuatu yang diperbuat-Nya di tanah Yudea maupun di Yerusalem; dan mereka telah membunuh Dia dan menggantung Dia pada kayu salib. Yesus itu telah dibangkitkan Allah pada hari yang ketiga, dan Allah berkenan, bahwa Ia menampakkan diri, bukan kepada seluruh bangsa, tetapi kepada saksi-saksi, yang sebelumnya telah ditunjuk oleh Allah, yaitu kepada kami yang telah makan dan minum bersama-sama dengan Dia, setelah Ia bangkit dari antara orang mati. Karena itu, kalau kamu dibangkitkan bersama dengan Kristus, carilah perkara yang di atas, di mana Kristus ada, duduk di sebelah kanan Allah. Pikirkanlah perkara yang di atas, bukan yang di bumi. Sebab kamu telah mati dan hidupmu tersembunyi bersama dengan Kristus di dalam Allah. Apabila Kristus, yang adalah hidup kita, menyatakan diri kelak, kamu pun akan menyatakan diri bersama dengan Dia dalam kemuliaan.

Tidak tahukah kamu, bahwa sedikit ragi mengkhamiri seluruh adonan? Buanglah ragi yang lama itu, supaya kamu menjadi adonan yang baru, sebab kamu memang tidak beragi. Sebab anak domba Paskah kita juga telah disembelih, yaitu Kristus. Karena itu marilah kita berpesta, bukan dengan ragi yang lama, bukan pula dengan ragi keburukan dan kejahatan, tetapi dengan roti yang tidak beragi, yaitu kemurnian dan kebenaran.

Pada hari pertama minggu itu, pagi-pagi benar ketika hari masih gelap, pergilah Maria Magdalena ke kubur itu dan ia melihat bahwa batu telah diambil dari kubur. Ia berlari-lari mendapatkan Simon Petrus dan murid yang lain yang dikasihi Yesus, dan berkata kepada mereka: "Tuhan telah diambil orang dari kuburnya dan kami tidak tahu di mana Ia diletakkan." Maka berangkatlah Petrus dan murid yang lain itu ke kubur. Keduanya berlari bersama-sama, tetapi murid yang lain itu berlari lebih cepat dari pada Petrus sehingga lebih dahulu sampai di kubur. Ia menjenguk ke dalam, dan melihat kain kapan terletak di tanah; akan tetapi ia tidak masuk ke dalam. Maka datanglah Simon Petrus juga menyusul dia dan masuk ke dalam kubur itu. Ia melihat kain kapan terletak di tanah, sedang kain peluh yang tadinya ada di kepala Yesus tidak terletak dekat kain kapan itu, tetapi agak di samping di tempat yang lain dan sudah tergulung. Maka masuklah juga murid yang lain, yang lebih dahulu sampai di kubur itu dan ia melihatnya dan percaya. Sebab selama itu mereka belum mengerti isi Kitab Suci yang mengatakan, bahwa Ia harus bangkit dari antara orang mati.

Mereka berkata seorang kepada yang lain: "Siapa yang akan menggulingkan batu itu bagi kita dari pintu kubur?" Tetapi ketika mereka melihat dari dekat, tampaklah, batu yang memang sangat besar itu sudah terguling. Lalu mereka masuk ke dalam kubur dan mereka melihat seorang muda yang memakai jubah putih duduk di sebelah kanan. Mereka pun sangat terkejut, tetapi orang muda itu berkata kepada mereka: "Jangan takut! Kamu mencari Yesus orang Nazaret, yang disalibkan itu. Ia telah bangkit. Ia tidak ada di sini. Lihat! Inilah tempat mereka membaringkan Dia. Tetapi sekarang pergilah, katakanlah kepada murid-murid-Nya dan kepada Petrus: Ia mendahului kamu ke Galilea; di sana kamu akan melihat Dia, seperti yang sudah dikatakan-Nya kepada kamu."

Pada hari itu juga dua orang dari murid-murid Yesus pergi ke sebuah kampung bernama Emaus, yang terletak kira-kira tujuh mil jauhnya dari Yerusalem, dan mereka bercakap-cakap tentang segala sesuatu yang telah terjadi. Ketika mereka sedang bercakap-cakap dan bertukar pikiran, datanglah Yesus sendiri mendekati mereka, lalu berjalan bersama-sama dengan mereka. Tetapi ada sesuatu yang menghalangi mata mereka, sehingga mereka tidak dapat mengenal Dia. Yesus berkata kepada mereka: "Apakah yang kamu percakapkan sementara kamu berjalan?" Maka berhentilah mereka dengan muka muram. Seorang dari mereka, namanya Kleopas, menjawab-Nya: "Adakah Engkau satu-satunya orang asing di Yerusalem, yang tidak tahu apa yang terjadi di situ pada hari-hari belakangan ini?" Kata-Nya kepada mereka: "Apakah itu?" Jawab mereka: "Apa yang terjadi dengan Yesus orang Nazaret. Dia adalah seorang nabi, yang berkuasa dalam pekerjaan dan perkataan di hadapan Allah dan di depan seluruh bangsa kami. Lalu mereka datang dengan berita, bahwa telah kelihatan kepada mereka malaikat-malaikat, yang mengatakan, bahwa Ia hidup. Lalu masuklah Ia untuk tinggal bersama-sama dengan mereka. Waktu Ia duduk makan dengan mereka, Ia mengambil roti, mengucap berkat, lalu memecah-mecahkannya dan memberikannya kepada mereka. Ketika itu terbukalah mata mereka dan mereka pun mengenal Dia, tetapi Ia lenyap dari tengah-tengah mereka. Kata mereka seorang kepada yang lain: "Bukankah hati kita berkobar-kobar, ketika Ia berbicara dengan kita di tengah jalan dan ketika Ia menerangkan Kitab Suci kepada kita?" Lalu bangunlah mereka dan terus kembali ke Yerusalem. Di situ mereka mendapati kesebelas murid itu. Mereka sedang berkumpul bersama-sama dengan teman-teman mereka. Kata mereka itu: "Sesungguhnya Tuhan telah bangkit dan telah menampakkan diri kepada Simon." Lalu kedua orang itu pun menceritakan apa yang terjadi di tengah jalan dan bagaimana mereka mengenal Dia pada waktu Ia memecah-mecahkan roti.

ペテロは話し始めました。「イスラエル人に伝えられた神のみことばについては、すでにお聞きでしょう。全人類の主である救い主イエスによって、私たちが神と和解できるということです。この教えは、バプテスマのヨハネが語り始め、ガリラヤからユダヤ全土に広まりました。ナザレのイエスは神の聖霊と力とに満たされて、すばらしいみわざを行い、また悪霊につかれている人たちをみないやしながら、各地を巡回されました。それは、神様がこの方と共におられたからだということも、きっとご存じでしょう。私たち使徒は、イエスがイスラエル全土、またエルサレムでなさったすべてのことの証人です。このエルサレムで、イエスは十字架につけられたのです。しかし神様は、三日後にイエスを復活させてくださいました。そしてそのことを、すべての人々にではなく、神様があらかじめ選んでおられた証人に示してくださったのです。私たちは復活したイエスとお会いして、いっしょに食事もしました。主は、これらのことをすべての人に伝えるように、私たちを派遣なさいました。それで私たちは、このイエスが、生きている人でも死んだ人でもすべての人を審判する方として、神に任命されたのだと証言しているのです。イエスについては、どの預言者も、この方を信じる者はだれでも、その名によって罪が赦されると証言しています。」

キリストが死からよみがえられた時、あなたがたも共によみがえったのですから、天にある無尽蔵の富と喜びに目を向けなさい。そこでは、キリストが栄誉と力とを帯びて、神の右の座についておられます。地上のことをあれこれ気に病まず、天上のことで心を満たされていなさい。一度死んだわけですから、あなたがたの真のいのちは、キリストと共に天の神のもとにあるのです。真のいのちであるキリストが再び戻って来られる時、あなたがたも彼と共に輝き、そのすべての栄光にあずかるのです。
第二読み物（コリント人への手紙一第5章：第6B詩–第8詩）
この読み物はコリント人への手紙一です。
たとえ一人でも、罪を犯すままに放任しておけば、やがてその影響が全員に及ぶことがわからないのですか。その人を、あなたがたの間から除きなさい。そうすれば、きよさを保てます。神の小羊であるキリストは、私たちのためにすでに殺されたのです。ですから、悪意や不正でいっぱいの生活から、完全に離れなさい。しっかりキリストにつながり、クリスチャン生活において、力強く成長しようではありませんか。悪意や不正のまじったパンではなく、誠実と真実という純粋なパンを食べようではありませんか。
福音書（ヨハネ第20章：第1詩–第9詩）

週の初めの日（日曜日）、朝早く、まだ暗いうちに、マグダラのマリヤは墓に行きました。見ると、入り口の石がわきにのけてあります。驚いたマリヤは、息せき切ってシモン・ペテロと私のところに駆けつけ、「たいへんよ。だれかが主のお体を取って行ったわ！いったいどこに置いたのかしら」と叫びました。私たちはそれを確かめようと、二人して墓に急ぎました。私はペテロより足が速かったので、先に着きました。すぐさま身をかがめてのぞき込むと、亜麻布が見えます。しかし中には入りませんでした。続いてシモン・ペテロが駆けつけ、ためらわず中に入りました。彼もやはり亜麻布と、そこからやや離れた所に、イエスの頭に巻かれていた布が、そのままの形で置いてあるのを見ました。私もあとから入り、この有様を見て、イエスが復活なさったことを信じました。この時まで、イエスは必ず復活すると書いてある聖書のことばを、私たちはまだ理解していなかったのです。

翌日の夕方、安息日が終わると、マグダラのマリヤとヤコブの母マリヤ、それにサロメの三人は、さっそくイエスの遺体に塗る香料を買い求めました。その翌朝早く、日が昇るとすぐ、女たちは香料を持って墓へ急ぎました。女たちには気にかかることが一つあり、道々、そのことばかり話し合っていました。どうしたら、あの大きな石を入口から取りのけることができるかということでした。それがどうでしょう。墓に着いてみると、あの重い石は動かしてあり、入口が開いているではありませんか。中に入ると、右のほうに白い服を着た青年（天使）が座っています。女たちはびっくりして、息も止まるほどでした。その青年がおもむろに口を開きました。「そんなに驚くことはありません。十字架につけられたナザレのイエスを捜しているのでしょう。あの方はもうここにはおられません。復活されたのです。ごらんなさい。ここが、あの方の納められていた場所です。さあ、行って、ペテロやほかの弟子たちに、『イエスはあなたがたより先にガリラヤへ行かれます。前もって言われたとおり、そこでお会いできるのです』と知らせてあげなさい。」

この同じ日曜日のことです。二人の弟子が、エルサレムから十一キロほど離れたエマオという村へ急いでいました。二人が道々話し合っていたのは、イエスの死のことでした。そこへ突然、当のイエスが近づき、彼らと連れ立って歩き始めました。しかし二人には、イエスだとはわかりません。神がそうなさったのです。イエスが尋ねました。「何やら熱心にお話しのようですね。いったい何がそんなに問題なのですか。」すると二人は、急に顔をくもらせ、思わず足を止めました。クレオパというほうの弟子があきれたように、「エルサレムにいながら、先週起こった、あの恐ろしい出来事を知らないとは。そんな人は、あなたぐらいのものでしょう」と言いました。「どんなことでしょうか？」「ナザレ出身のイエス様のことをご存じないのですか。この方は、信じられないような奇跡を幾つもなさった預言者で、すばらしい教師でもあったのです。神からも人からも重んじられていたのですが、祭司長やほかの宗教的指導者たちは、理不尽にもこの方をつかまえて、ローマ政府に引き渡し、十字架につけてしまったのです。私たちは、この方こそ栄光に輝くメシヤで、イスラエルを救うために来られたに違いないと考えていたのですが。ところが、話はそれで終わらないのです。弟子仲間の女たちが、なんとも奇妙なことを言いだしたのです。処刑があった日から、今日で三日目になりますが、今朝がた早く、その女たちが墓へ行ったところ、イエス様のお体は影も形もなかったというではありませんか。しかもその場に天使が現れて、イエス様は生きておられると語ったとか……。その話を聞いて、仲間のある者たちが墓へ駆けつけて確認したのですが、彼らも口をそろえて、墓は空っぽだったと証言しているのです。」「ああ、どうしてそんなに、心が鈍いのですか。預言者たちが聖書に書いていることを信じられないのですか。キリストは栄光の時を迎える前に、必ずこのような苦しみを受けるはずだと、預言者たちははっきり語ったではありませんか。」それからイエスは、創世記から始めて、聖書（旧約）全体にわたって次々と預言者のことばを引用しては、救い主についての教えを説き明かされました。そうこうするうち、エマオに近づきましたが、イエスはまだ旅を続ける様子です。二人は、じきに暗くなるから、今晩はここでいっしょに泊まってくださいと熱心に頼みました。それでイエスもいっしょに家に入りました。食卓に着くと、イエスはパンを取り、神に祝福を祈り求め、ちぎって二人に渡しました。その瞬間、二人の目が開かれ、その人がイエスだとわかりました。と同時に、イエスの姿はかき消すように見えなくなりました。二人はあっけにとられながらも、「そう言えば、あの方が歩きながら語りかけてくださった時も、聖書のことばを説明してくださった時も、不思議なほど私たちの心が燃えていたではないか」と語り合いました。そして、すぐエルサレムへ取って返しました。戻ってみると、十一人の弟子たちやほかの弟子たちが迎え、「主は、ほんとうに復活された。ペテロがお会いしたのだからまちがいない」と話していました。そこで二人も、エマオへ行く途中イエスと出会ったことや、パンをちぎられた時にはっきりイエスだとわかったことなどを話しました。

そこで、ペトロは口を開きこう言った。「あなたがたはご存じでしょう。ヨハネが洗礼を宣べ伝えた後に、ガリラヤから始まってユダヤ全土に起きた出来事です。つまり、ナザレのイエスのことです。神は、聖霊と力によってこの方を油注がれた者となさいました。イエスは、方々を巡り歩いて人々を助け、悪魔に苦しめられている人たちをすべていやされたのですが、それは、神が御一緒だったからです。わたしたちは、イエスがユダヤ人の住む地方、特にエルサレムでなさったことすべての証人です。人々はイエスを木にかけて殺してしまいましたが、神はこのイエスを三日目に復活させ、人々の前に現してくださいました。しかし、それは民全体に対してではなく、前もって神に選ばれた証人、つまり、イエスが死者の中から復活した後、御一緒に食事をしたわたしたちに対してです。そしてイエスは、御自分が生きている者と死んだ者との審判者として神から定められた者であることを、民に宣べ伝え、力強く証しするようにと、わたしたちにお命じになりました。また預言者も皆、イエスについて、この方を信じる者はだれでもその名によって罪の赦しが受けられる、と証ししています。」
第二読み物（コロサイの信徒第3章：第1詩–第4詩）
この読み物はコロサイの信徒への手紙です。
さて、あなたがたは、キリストと共に復活させられたのですから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこでは、キリストが神の右の座に着いておられます。上にあるものに心を留め、地上のものに心を引かれないようにしなさい。あなたがたは死んだのであって、あなたがたの命は、キリストと共に神の内に隠されているのです。あなたがたの命であるキリストが現れるとき、あなたがたも、キリストと共に栄光に包まれて現れるでしょう。
第二読み物（コリントの信徒への手紙一第5章：第6B詩–第8詩）
この読み物はコリントの信徒への手紙です。
わずかなパン種が練り粉全体を膨らませることを、知らないのですか。いつも新しい練り粉のままでいられるように、古いパン種をきれいに取り除きなさい。現に、あなたがたはパン種の入っていない者なのです。キリストが、わたしたちの過越の小羊として屠られたからです。だから、古いパン種や悪意と邪悪のパン種を用いないで、パン種の入っていない、純粋で真実のパンで過越祭を祝おうではありませんか。
福音書（ヨハネ第20章：第1詩–第9詩）
この読み物はヨハネによる福音書です。
週の初めの日、朝早く、まだ暗いうちに、マグダラのマリアは墓に行った。そして、墓から石が取りのけてあるのを見た。そこで、シモン・ペトロのところへ、また、イエスが愛しておられたもう一人の弟子のところへ走って行って彼らに告げた。「主が墓から取り去られました。どこに置かれているのか、わたしたちには分かりません。」そこで、ペトロとそのもう一人の弟子は、外に出て墓へ行った。二人は一緒に走ったが、もう一人の弟子の方が、ペトロより速く走って、先に墓に着いた。身をかがめて中をのぞくと、亜麻布が置いてあった。しかし、彼は中には入らなかった。続いて、シモン・ペトロも着いた。彼は墓に入り、亜麻布が置いてあるのを見た。イエスの頭を包んでいた覆いは、亜麻布と同じ所には置いてなく、離れた所に丸めてあった。それから、先に墓に着いたもう一人の弟子も入って来て、見て、信じた。イエスは必ず死者の中から復活されることになっているという聖書の言葉を、二人はまだ理解していなかったのである。
福音書（マルコ第24章：第1詩–第7詩）
この読み物はマルコによる福音書です。
安息日が終わると、マグダラのマリア、ヤコブの母マリア、サロメは、イエスに油を塗りに行くために香料を買った。そして、週の初めの日の朝ごく早く、日が出るとすぐ墓に行った。彼女たちは、「だれが墓の入り口からあの石を転がしてくれるでしょうか」と話し合っていた。ところが、目を上げて見ると、石は既にわきへ転がしてあった。石は非常に大きかったのである。墓の中に入ると、白い長い衣を着た若者が右手に座っているのが見えたので、婦人たちはひどく驚いた。若者は言った。「驚くことはない。あなたがたは十字架につけられたナザレのイエスを捜しているが、あの方は復活なさって、ここにはおられない。御覧なさい。お納めした場所である。さあ、行って、弟子たちとペトロに告げなさい。『あの方は、あなたがたより先にガリラヤへ行かれる。かねて言われたとおり、そこでお目にかかれる』と。」
福音書（ルカ第24章：第13詩–第35詩）
この読み物はルカによる福音書です。
ちょうどこの日、二人の弟子が、エルサレムから六十スタディオン離れたエマオという村へ向かって歩きながら、この一切の出来事について話し合っていた。話し合い論じ合っていると、イエス御自身が近づいて来て、一緒に歩き始められた。しかし、二人の目は遮られていて、イエスだとは分からなかった。イエスは、「歩きながら、やり取りしているその話は何のことですか」と言われた。二人は暗い顔をして立ち止まった。その一人のクレオパという人が答えた。「エルサレムに滞在していながら、この数日そこで起こったことを、あなただけはご存じなかったのですか。」イエスが、「どんなことですか」と言われると、二人は言った。「ナザレのイエスのことです。この方は、神と民全体の前で、行いにも言葉にも力のある預言者でした。それなのに、わたしたちの祭司長たちや議員たちは、死刑にするため引き渡して、十字架につけてしまったのです。わたしたちは、あの方こそイスラエルを解放してくださると望みをかけていました。しかも、そのことがあってから、もう今日で三日目になります。ところが、仲間の婦人たちがわたしたちを驚かせました。婦人たちは朝早く墓へ行きましたが、遺体を見つけずに戻って来ました。そして、天使たちが現れ、『イエスは生きておられる』と告げたと言うのです。仲間の者が何人か墓へ行ってみたのですが、婦人たちが言ったとおりで、あの方は見当たりませんでした。」そこで、イエスは言われた。「ああ、物分かりが悪く、心が鈍く預言者たちの言ったことすべてを信じられない者たち、メシアはこういう苦しみを受けて、栄光に入るはずだったのではないか。」そして、モーセとすべての預言者から始めて、聖書全体にわたり、御自分について書かれていることを説明された。一行は目指す村に近づいたが、イエスはなおも先へ行こうとされる様子だった。二人が、「一緒にお泊まりください。そろそろ夕方になりますし、もう日も傾いていますから」と言って、無理に引き止めたので、イエスは共に泊まるため家に入られた。一緒に食事の席に着いたとき、イエスはパンを取り、賛美の祈りを唱え、パンを裂いてお渡しになった。すると、二人の目が開け、イエスだと分かったが、その姿は見えなくなった。二人は、「道で話しておられるとき、また聖書を説明してくださったとき、わたしたちの心は燃えていたではないか」と語り合った。そして、時を移さず出発して、エルサレムに戻ってみると、十一人とその仲間が集まって、本当に主は復活して、シモンに現れたと言っていた。二人も、道で起こったことや、パンを裂いてくださったときにイエスだと分かった次第を話した。
