First reading (Habakkuk 1: 2–3 and 2: 2–4)
A reading from the book of the Prophet Habakkuk.
How long, O LORD? I cry for help but you do not listen! I cry out to you, "Violence!" but you do not intervene. Why do you let me see ruin; why must I look at misery? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and clamorous discord. Then the LORD answered me and said: Write down the vision clearly upon the tablets, so that one can read it readily. For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment, and will not disappoint; if it delays, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late. The rash one has no integrity; but the just one, because of his faith, shall live.
Second reading (2 Timothy 1: 6–8 and 13–14)
A reading from the second letter of Saint Paul to Timothy.
Beloved: I remind you, to stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control. So do not be ashamed of your testimony to our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for his sake; but bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God. Take as your norm the sound words that you heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Guard this rich trust with the help of the Holy Spirit that dwells within us.
Gospel (Luke 17: 5–10)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you. "Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, 'Come here immediately and take your place at table'? Would he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished'? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded? So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'"

Beloved: I invite you to fan into a flame the gift of God you received through the laying on of my hands. For God did not confer on us a spirit of bashfulness, but of strength, love and good judgment. Do not be ashamed of testifying to our Lord, nor of seeing me in chains. On the contrary, do your share in laboring for the Gospel with the strength of God. Follow the pattern of the sound doctrine which you have heard from me, concerning faith and love in Christ Jesus. Keep this precious deposit with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
Gospel (Luke 17: 5–10)

¿Hasta cuándo, Señor, pediré auxilio sin que tú escuches, clamaré hacia ti: “¡Violencia!”, sin que tú salves? ¿Por qué me haces ver la iniquidad y te quedas mirando la opresión? No veo más que saqueo y violencia, hay contiendas y aumenta la discordia. El Señor me respondió y dijo: Escribe la visión, grábala sobre unas tablas para que se la pueda leer de corrido. Porque la visión aguarda el momento fijado, ansía llegar a término y no fallará; si parece que se demora, espérala, porque vendrá seguramente, y no tardará. El que no tiene el alma recta, sucumbirá, pero el justo vivirá por su fidelidad.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 95) (Versículos 1–2 y 6–9)
La respuesta es: Si hoy escuchas su voz, no endurezcas tu corazón.

Por eso te recomiendo que reavives el don de Dios que has recibido por la imposición de mis manos. Porque el Espíritu que Dios nos ha dado no es un espíritu de temor, sino de fortaleza, de amor y de sobriedad. No te avergüences del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni tampoco de mí, que soy su prisionero. Al contrario, comparte conmigo los sufrimientos que es necesario padecer por Evangelio, animado con la fortaleza de Dios. Toma como norma las saludables lecciones de fe y de amor a Cristo Jesús que has escuchado de mí. Conserva lo que se te ha confiado, con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.
Evangelio (Lucas 17: 5–10)

Los Apóstoles dijeron al Señor: “Auméntanos la fe.” Él respondió: “Si ustedes tuvieran fe del tamaño de un grano de mostaza, y dijeran a esa morera que está ahí: ‘Arráncate de raíz y plántate en el mar,’ ella les obedecería. Supongamos que uno de ustedes tiene un servidor para arar o cuidar el ganado. Cuando este regresa del campo, ¿acaso le dirá: ‘Ven pronto y siéntate a la mesa?’ ¿No le dirá más bien: ‘Prepárame la cena y recógete la túnica para servirme hasta que yo haya comido y bebido, y tú comerás y beberás después?’ ¿Deberá mostrarse agradecido con el servidor porque hizo lo que se le mandó? Así también ustedes, cuando hayan hecho todo lo que se les mande, digan: ‘Somos simples servidores, no hemos hecho más que cumplir con nuestro deber.’”

Mengapa Engkau memperlihatkan kepadaku kejahatan, sehingga aku memandang kelaliman? Ya, aniaya dan kekerasan ada di depan mataku; perbantahan dan pertikaian terjadi. Lalu TUHAN menjawab aku, demikian: "Tuliskanlah penglihatan itu dan ukirkanlah itu pada loh-loh, supaya orang sambil lalu dapat membacanya. Sebab penglihatan itu masih menanti saatnya, tetapi ia bersegera menuju kesudahannya dengan tidak menipu; apabila berlambat-lambat, nantikanlah itu, sebab itu sungguh-sungguh akan datang dan tidak akan bertangguh. Sesungguhnya, orang yang membusungkan dada, tidak lurus hatinya, tetapi orang yang benar itu akan hidup oleh percayanya.

ある日、使徒たちが主に、「もっと信仰が強くなりたいのですが、どうしたらいいでしょう」と尋ねました。イエスの答えはこうでした。「ほら、あそこに桑の木があるでしょう。ほんの小さな、からし種ほどの信仰でもあれば、あの木を根こそぎ海の中へ投げ込むことぐらい簡単なことです。そう命令しさえすれば、たちまちそのとおりになります。ところで、畑を耕すか、羊の番をするかして一日中働いた奴隷が、帰って来るなりどっかと腰をおろし、食事を始めるなどということがあるでしょうか。まず主人の食事のしたくをし、給仕をすませ、それから自分の食事をするのが普通です。しかも、そうしたからといって取り立てて感謝されるわけでもありません。当然のことをしただけです。あなたがたがわたしに従って来るのも同じことです。『私たちはただ、するべきことを果たしているにすぎないのです』と言いなさい。」

Fino a quando, Signore, implorerò e non ascolti, a te alzerò il grido: “Violenza!” e non soccorri? Perché mi fai vedere l'iniquità e resti spettatore dell'oppressione? Ho davanti rapina e violenza e ci sono liti e si muovono contese. Il Signore rispose e mi disse: “Scrivi la visione e incidila bene sulle tavolette perchè la si legga speditamente. E' una visione che attesta un termine, parla di una scadenza e non mentisce; se indugia, attendila, perchè certo verrà e non tarderà.” Ecco, soccombe colui che non ha l'animo retto, mentre il giusto vivrà per la sua fede.
Seconda lettura (2 Timoteo 1: 6–8 e 13–14)
Una lettura dalla seconda lettera di San Paolo a Timoteo.
Per questo motivo ti ricordo di ravvivare il dono di Dio che è in te per l'imposizione delle mie mani. Dio infatti non ci ha dato uno Spirito di timidezza, ma di forza, di amore e di saggezza. Non vergognarti dunque della testimonianza da rendere al Signore nostro, né di me, che sono in carcere per lui; ma soffri anche tu insieme con me per il vangelo, aiutato dalla forza di Dio. Prendi come modello le sane parole che hai udito da me, con la fede e la carità che sono in Cristo Gesù. Custodisci il buon deposito con l'aiuto dello Spirito santo che abita in noi.
Vangelo (Luca 17: 5–10)
Una lettura dal Santo Vangelo secondo San Luca.
Gli apostoli dissero al Signore: “Aumenta la nostra fede!” Il Signore rispose: “Se aveste fede quanto un granellino di senapa, potreste dire a questo gelso: Sii sradicato e trapiantato nel mare, ed esso vi ascolterebbe. Chi di voi, se ha un servo ad arare o a pascolare il gregge, gli dirà quando rientra dal campo: Vieni subito e mettiti a tavola? Non gli dirà piuttosto: Preparami da mangiare, rimboccati la veste e servimi, finché io abbia mangiato e bevuto, e dopo mangerai e berrai anche tu? Si riterrà obbligato verso il suo servo, perché ha eseguito gli ordini ricevuti? Così anche voi, quando avrete fatto tutto quello che vi è stato ordinato, dite: Siamo servi inutili. Abbiamo fatto quanto dovevamo fare.”
