First Reading (Acts 15: 1-2 and 22-29)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
Some people who had come from Judea to Antioch were teaching the brothers in this way, "Unless you are circumcised according to the law of Moses, you cannot be saved." Because of this there was trouble, and Paul and Barnabas had fierce arguments with them. For Paul told the people to remain as they were when they became believers. Finally those who had come from Jerusalem suggested that Paul and Barnabas and some others go up to Jerusalem to discuss the matter with the apostles and elders. Then the apostles and elders together with the whole Church decided to choose representatives from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. These were Judas, known as Barsabbas, and Silas, both leading men among the brothers. They took with them the following letter: "Greetings from the apostles and elders, your brothers, to the believers of non-Jewish birth in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia. We have heard that some people from among us have worried you with their discussions and troubled your peace of mind. They were not appointed by us. But now, it has seemed right to us in an assembly, to choose representatives and to send them to you, along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, who have dedicate their lives to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ. We send you then Judas and Silas who themselves will give you these instructions by word of mouth. We, with the Holy Spirit, have deiced not to put any other burden on you except what is necessary: You are to abstain from blood from the meat of strangled animals and from prohibited marriages. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell."
Second Reading (Revelation 21: 10-14 and 22-23)
A reading from the book of Revelation.
The angel took me up in a spiritual vision to a very high mountain and he showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. It shines with the glory of God, like a precious jewel with the color of crystal-clear jasper. Its wall, large and high, has twelve gates; stationed at them are twelve angels. Over the gates are written the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. Three gates face the east, three gates face the north, three gates face the south and three face the west. The city wall stands on twelve foundation stones on which are written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. I saw no temple in the city for the Lord God, Master of the universe, and the Lamb are themselves its temple. The city has no need of the light of the sun or the moon, since God's Glory is its light and the Lamb is its lamp.
Gospel (John 14: 23-29)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
Jesus stated to his disciples, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him; and we will come to him and make a room in his home. But if anyone does not love me, he will not keep my words, and these words that you hear are not mine but the Father who sent me. I told you all this while I was still with you. From now on the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of all that I have told you. Peace be with you; I give you my peace. Not as the world gives peace do I give it to you. Do not be troubled; do not be afraid. You heard me say: 'I am going away, but I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told this now before it takes place, so that when it does happen, you may believe."

Algunas personas venidas de Judea enseñaban a los hermanos que si no se hacían circuncidar según el rito establecido por Moisés, no podían salvarse. A raíz de esto, se produjo una agitación: Pablo y Bernabé discutieron vivamente con ellos, y por fin, se decidió que ambos, junto con algunos otros, subieran a Jerusalén para tratar esta cuestión con los Apóstoles y los presbíteros. Entonces los Apóstoles, los presbíteros y la Iglesia entera, decidieron elegir a algunos de ellos y enviarlos a Antioquía con Pablo y Bernabé. Eligieron a Judas, llamado Barsabás, y a Silas, hombres eminentes entre los hermanos y les encomendaron llevar la siguiente carta: “Los Apóstoles y los presbíteros saludamos fraternalmente a los hermanos de origen pagano, que están en Antioquía, en Siria y en Cilicia. Habiéndonos enterado de que algunos de los nuestros, sin mandato de nuestra parte, han sembrado entre ustedes la inquietud y provocado el desconcierto, hemos decidido de común acuerdo elegir a unos delegados y enviárselos junto con nuestros queridos Bernabé y Pablo, los cuales han consagrado su vida al nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Por eso les enviamos a Judas y a Silas, quienes les transmitirán de viva voz este mismo mensaje. El Espíritu Santo, y nosotros mismos, hemos decidido no imponerles ninguna carga más que las indispensables, a saber: que se abstengan de la carne inmolada a los ídolos, de la sangre, de la carne de animales muertos sin desangrar y de las uniones ilegales. Harán bien en cumplir todo esto. Adiós.”

Una lectura del libro del Apocalipsis.
Me trasladó en espíritu a un cerro muy grande y elevado y me mostró la Ciudad Santa de Jerusalén, que bajaba del cielo de junto a Dios, envuelta en la gloria de Dios. Resplandecía como piedra muy preciosa con el color del jaspe cristalino Tenía una muralla grande y alta con doce puertas, y sobre las puertas doce ángeles y nombres grabados, que son los nombres de las doce tribus de los hijos de Israel. Tres puertas dan a oriente y otras tres miran al norte; tres puertas al sur y otras tres al poniente. La muralla de la ciudad descansa sobre doce bases en las que están escritos los nombres de los doce Apóstoles del Cordero. No vi templo alguno en la ciudad, porque su templo es el Señor Dios, el Todopoderoso, y el Cordero. La ciudad no necesita luz del sol ni de la luna, porque la gloria de Dios la ilumina y su lámpara es el Cordero.
Evangelio (Juan 14: 23-29)
Una lectura del Evangelio Santo según San Juan.
Jesús le respondió: “El que me ama será fiel a mi palabra, y mi Padre lo amará; iremos a él y habitaremos en él. El que no me ama no es fiel a mis palabras. La palabra que ustedes oyeron no es mía, sino del Padre que me envió. Yo les digo estas cosas mientras permanezco con ustedes. Pero el Paráclito, el Espíritu Santo, que el Padre enviará en mi Nombre, les enseñará todo y les recordará lo que les he dicho. Les dejo la paz, les doy mi paz, pero no como la da el mundo. ¡No se inquieten ni teman! Me han oído decir: “Me voy y volveré a ustedes.” Si me amaran, se alegrarían de que vuelva junto al Padre, porque el Padre es más grande que yo. Les he dicho esto antes que suceda, para que cuando se cumpla, ustedes crean.”

Kaya't napagpasyahang papuntahin sa Jerusalem sina Pablo at Bernabe at ilan pang kapatid na taga-Antioquia, upang ang suliraning ito ay isangguni sa mga apostol at sa matatandang pinuno ng iglesya. Kaya't minabuti ng mga apostol, ng matatandang pinuno ng iglesya, at ng buong iglesya na pumili ng ilan sa kanila upang suguin sa Antioquia, kasama nina Pablo at Bernabe. Ang mga napili nila ay si Judas na tinatawag na Barsabas at si Silas, na mga lalaking iginagalang ng mga kapatid. Ipinadala nila sa kanila ang sulat na ganito ang nilalaman: “Kaming mga apostol at ang matatandang pinuno ng iglesya, inyong mga kapatid, ay bumabati sa mga kapatid naming Hentil na nasa Antioquia, sa Siria at sa Cilicia. Isinugo namin sa inyo sina Judas at Silas upang ipaliwanag ang sinasabi sa sulat na ito. Napasailalim ako sa kapangyarihan ng Espiritu, at ako'y dinala ng anghel sa ibabaw ng isang napakataas na bundok. Ipinakita niya sa akin ang Jerusalem, ang Banal na Lungsod, na bumababa mula sa langit buhat sa Diyos. Nagliliwanag ito dahil sa kaluwalhatian ng Diyos; kumikislap na parang batong hiyas, gaya ng jasper, at sinlinaw ng kristal. Ang pader nito'y makapal, mataas at may labindalawang pinto, at sa bawat pinto ay may isang anghel. Nakasulat sa mga pinto ang mga pangalan ng labindalawang lipi ng Israel, isang pangalan bawat pinto. May tatlong pinto ang bawat panig: tatlo sa silangan, tatlo sa timog, tatlo sa hilaga, at tatlo sa kanluran. Ang pader ng lungsod ay may labindalawang pundasyon at nakasulat sa mga ito ang mga pangalan ng labindalawang apostol ng Kordero. Wala akong nakitang templo sa lungsod sapagkat ang nagsisilbing templo roon ay ang Panginoong Diyos na Makapangyarihan sa lahat at ang Kordero. Hindi na kailangan ang araw o ang buwan upang bigyang liwanag ang lungsod, sapagkat ang kaluwalhatian ng Diyos ang nagbibigay ng liwanag doon at ang Kordero ang siyang ilawan.

Ang salitang narinig ninyo ay hindi sa akin, kundi sa Ama na nagsugo sa akin. “Sinabi ko na sa inyo ang mga bagay na ito habang kasama pa ninyo ako. Ngunit ang Patnubay, ang Espiritu Santo na isusugo ng Ama sa pangalan ko, ang siyang magtuturo sa inyo ng lahat ng bagay at magpapaalala ng lahat ng sinabi ko sa inyo. “Kapayapaan ang iniiwan ko sa inyo. Ang aking kapayapaan ang ibinibigay ko sa inyo; hindi ito katulad ng kapayapaang ibinibigay ng mundo. Huwag mabagabag ang inyong kalooban at huwag kayong matakot. Sinabi ko na sa inyo, ‘Ako'y aalis, ngunit ako'y babalik.’ Kung iniibig ninyo ako, ikagagalak ninyo ang pagpunta ko sa Ama, sapagkat higit na dakila ang Ama kaysa sa akin. Sinasabi ko na ito sa inyo bago pa mangyari, upang kung mangyari na ay sumampalataya kayo sa akin. Hindi na magtatagal ang pakikipag-usap ko sa inyo dahil dumarating na ang pinuno ng sanlibutang ito. Wala siyang kapangyarihan sa akin, subalit ginagawa ko ang iniutos sa akin ng Ama upang malaman ng sanlibutang ito na iniibig ko ang Ama. Tayo na! Lumakad na tayo!”
