First Reading (Acts 7: 55-60)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his eyes on heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus at God's right hand, so he declared: "I see the heavens open and the Son of Man at the right hand of God." But they shouted and covered their ears with their hands and rushed together upon him. They brought him out of the city and stoned him, and the witnesses laid down their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul. As they were stoning him, Stephen prayed saying: "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Then he knelt down and cried out in a loud voice: "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." And when he had stated this, he died.
Second Reading (Revelation 22: 12-14, 16-17, and 20)
A reading from the book of Revelation.
I, John, heard a voice stating to me: "I am coming soon, bringing with me the salary I will pay to each one according to his deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." Happy are those who wash their robes for they will have free access to the tree of Life and enter the city through the gates. "I, Jesus, sent my angel to make known to you these revelations concerning the Churches. I am the Shoot and Offspring of David, the radiant Morning Star." The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come!" Whoever hears let him say, "Come!" Whoever thirsts let him approach, and whoever desires, let him freely take the water of life. He who has declare all this says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen! Come, Lord Jesus.
Gospel (John 17: 20-26)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed, stating: "I pray not only for these but also for those who through their word will believe in me. May they all be one as you Father are in me and I am in you. May they be one in us; so the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the Glory you have given me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. Thus they shall reach perfection in unity and the world shall know that you have sent me and that I have loved them just as you loved me. Father, since you have given them to me, I want them to be with me where I am and see the Glory you gave me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, the world has not known you but I have known you, and these have known that you have sent me. As I revealed your Name to them, so will I continue to reveal it, so that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I also may be in them."

Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 97) (Verses 1, 2b, 6, 7c, and 9)

The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the distant islands be glad. Justice and right are his throne.
The heavens proclaim his justice, all peoples see his glory. Let all spirits bow before him.
For you are the Master of the universe, exalted far above all gods.
This is the final Sunday of Easter. Next week's Mass will be Pentecost Sunday, a celebration to end the season of Easter.
ReplyDeleteFollowing Pentecost Sunday is Trinity Sunday, and finally, the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). Following after the Body and Blood of Christ Mass is the season of Ordinary Time.

Esteban, lleno del Espíritu Santo y con los ojos fijos en el cielo, vio la gloria de Dios, y a Jesús, que estaba de pie a la derecha de Dios. Entonces exclamó: “Veo el cielo abierto y al Hijo del hombre de pie a la derecha de Dios.” Ellos comenzaron a vociferar y, tapándose los oídos, se precipitaron sobre él como un solo hombre, y arrastrándolo fuera de la ciudad, lo apedrearon. Los testigos se quitaron los mantos, confiándolos a un joven llamado Saulo. Mientras lo apedreaban, Esteban oraba, diciendo: “Señor Jesús, recibe mi espíritu.” Después, poniéndose de rodillas, exclamó en alta voz: “Señor, no les tengas en cuenta este pecado.” Y al decir esto, expiró.
Salmo responsivo (Salmo 97) (Versículos 1, 2b, 6, 7c, y 9)
La respuesta es: El Señor es rey sobre toda la tierra.
¡El Señor reina! Alégrese la tierra, regocíjense las islas incontables. La Justicia y el Derecho son la base de su trono. Los cielos proclaman su justicia y todos los pueblos contemplan su gloria. Todos los dioses se postran ante él. Porque tú, Señor, eres el Altísimo: estás por encima de toda la tierra, mucho más alto que todos los dioses.

Yo, Jesús, he enviado a mi ángel para decirles lo que se refiere a las Iglesias. Yo soy el Brote y el Descendiente de David, la estrella radiante de la mañana.” El Espíritu y la Esposa dicen: “¡Ven!” Que el que escucha diga también: “¡Ven!” El que tenga sed, que se acerque; y el que lo desee, reciba gratuitamente el agua de la vida.
Evangelio (Juan 17: 20-26)

Jesús levantó los ojos al cielo, diciendo: “No ruego solamente por ellos, sino también por los que, gracias a su palabra, creerán en mí. Que todos sean uno: como tú, Padre, estás en mí y yo en ti, que también ellos sean uno en nosotros, para que el mundo crea que tú me enviaste. Yo les he dado la gloria que tú me diste, para que sean uno, como nosotros somos uno. Yo en ellos y tú en mí, para que sean perfectamente uno y el mundo conozca que tú me has enviado, y que yo los amé cómo tú me amaste. Padre, quiero que los que tú me diste estén conmigo donde yo esté, para que contemplen la gloria que me has dado, porque ya me amabas antes de la creación del mundo. Padre justo, el mundo no te ha conocido, pero yo te conocí, y ellos reconocieron que tú me enviaste. Les di a conocer tu Nombre, y se lo seguiré dando a conocer, para que el amor con que tú me amaste esté en ellos, y yo también esté en ellos.”
