First Reading (Isaiah 55: 1-11)
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.
Come here, all you who are thirsty, come to the water! All who have no money, come! Yes, without money and at no cost, buy and drink wine and milk. Why spend money on what is not food and labor for what does not satisfy? Listen to me, and you will eat well; you will enjoy the richest of fare. Incline your ear and come to me; listen, that your soul may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, I will fulfill in you my promises to David. See, I have given him for a witness to the nations, a leader and commander of the people. Likewise you will summon a nation unknown to you, and nations that do not know you will come hurrying to you for the sake of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has promoted you. Seek the Lord while he may be found; call to him while he is near. Let the wicked abandon his way, let him forsake his thoughts, let him turn to the Lord for he will have mercy, for our God is generous in forgiving. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, my ways are not your ways, states the Lord. For as the heavens are above the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from the heavens and do not return till they have watered the earth, making it yield seed for the sower and food for others to eat, so is my word that goes forth out of my mouth: it will not return to me idle, but it shall accomplish my will, the purpose for which it has been sent.
Second Reading (Acts 10: 34-38)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
Peter then spoke to the people gathered in the house of Cornelius, stating: "Truly, I realize that God does not show partiality, but in all nations he listens to everyone who fears God and does good. And this is the message he has sent to the children of Israel, the good news of peace he has proclaimed through Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of all. No doubt you have heard of the event that occurred throughout the whole country of the Jews, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism John preached. You know how God anointed Jesus the Nazarean with Holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and healing all who were in the devil's power, because God was with him."
Gospel (Mark 1: 7-11)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark.
John preached to the people stating, "After me comes one who is more powerful that I am; I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. As for me, I am not worthy to bend down and untie his sandals." At that time Jesus came down from Nazareth, a town of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And the moment he came up out of the water, heaven opened before him and he saw the Spirit coming down on him like a dove. And those words were heard from heaven, "You are my Son, the Beloved, the One I have chosen."

Give the Lord, O sons of God, give the Lord glory and strength, give the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in great liturgy.
The voice the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over vast waters. How powerful is the voice of the Lord, how splenderous is the voice of the Lord.
The voice of the Lord makes the oaks shudder, the Lord strips the forests bare, and in his tmeple all cry, "Glory!" Over the flood the Lord was sitting; the Lord is king and he reigns forever.

A ver ustedes que andan con sed, ¡vengan a las aguas! No importa que estén sin plata, vengan; pidan trigo sin dinero, y coman, pidan vino y leche, sin pagar. ¿Para qué van a gastar en lo que no es pan y dar su salario por cosas que no alimentan? Si ustedes me hacen caso, comerán cosas ricas y su paladar se deleitará con comidas exquisitas. Atiéndanme y acérquense a mí, escúchenme y su alma vivirá. Voy a hacer con ustedes una alianza para siempre, para darles los bienes que tengo prometidos a David. Mira, lo había puesto como un testigo para varios pueblos, como un jefe para mandar a las naciones. Así, tú ahora vas a llamar a una nación que no conocías, una nación que no te conocía correrá por verte. Esto será nada más que por Yahvé, tu Dios, por el Santo de Israel, que te ha puesto arriba. Busquen a Yahvé ahora que lo pueden encontrar, llámenlo ahora que está cerca. Que el malvado deje sus caminos, y el criminal sus proyectos; vuélvanse a Yahvé, que tendrá piedad de ellos, a nuestro Dios, que está siempre dispuesto a perdonar. Pues sus proyectos no son los míos, y mis caminos no son los mismos de ustedes, dice Yahvé. Así, como el cielo está muy alto por encima de la tierra, así también mis caminos se elevan por encima de sus caminos y mis proyectos son muy superiores a los de ustedes. Como baja la lluvia y la nieve de los cielos y no vuelven allá sin haber empapado la tierra, sin haberla fecundado y haberla hecho germinar, para que dé la simiente para sembrar y el pan para comer, así será la palabra que salga de mi boca. No volverá a mí con las manos vacías sino después de haber hecho lo que yo quería, y haber llevado a cabo lo que le encargué.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 29) (Versículos 1–4 y 9–10)
La respuesta es: El Señor bendecirá a su gente con paz.
• ¡Aclamen al Señor, hijos de Dios, aclamen al gloria y el poder del Señor! ¡Aclamen la gloria del hombre del Señor, adórenlo al manifestarse su santidad!
• ¡La voz del Señor sobre las aguas! El Dios de la gloria hace oír su trueno: el Señor está sobre las aguas torrenciales. ¡La voz del Señor es potente, la voz del Señor es majestuosa!
• La voz del Señor retuerce las encinas, el Señor arrasa las selvas. En su Templo, todos dicen: “¡Gloria!” El Señor tiene su trono sobre las aguas celestiales, el Señor se sienta en su trono de Rey eterno.
Segunda Lectura (1 Juan 5: 1–9)
La lectura de la primera carta de San Juan.
Todo el que cree que Jesús es el Mesías ha nacido de Dios. Si amamos al que da la vida, amamos también a quienes han nacido de él; y por eso, cuando amamos a Dios y cumplimos sus mandatos, con toda certeza sabemos que amamos a los hijos de Dios. Amar a Dios es guardar sus mandatos, y sus mandatos no son una carga. Todo lo que ha nacido de Dios vence al mundo, y la victoria en que el mundo ha sido vencido es nuestra fe. ¿Quién ha vencido al mundo sino el que cree que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios? Él es el que viene por el agua y la sangre: Jesucristo; y no sólo por el agua, sino por el agua y la sangre; y el espíritu también da su testimonio, el Espíritu que es la verdad. Tres son, pues, los que dan testimonio: el Espíritu, el agua y la sangre, y los tres coinciden en lo mismo. Si aceptamos el testimonio de los hombres, mucha más fuerza tiene el testimonio de Dios, y hay un testimonio de Dios, pues ha declarado a favor de su Hijo.
Evangelio (Marcos 1: 7–11)
Una lectura del Evangelio Santo según el San Marcos.
Juan proclamaba este mensaje: “Detrás de mí viene uno con más poder que yo. Yo no soy digno de desatar la correa de sus sandalias, aunque fuera arrodillándome ante él.” Yo los he bautizado con agua, pero él los bautizará en el Espíritu Santo.” En aquellos días Jesús vino de Nazaret, pueblo de Galilea, y se hizo bautizar por Juan en el río Jordán. Al momento de salir del agua, Jesús vio los Cielos abiertos: el Espíritu bajaba sobre él como lo hace la paloma, mientras se escuchaban estas palabras del Cielo: “Tú eres mi Hijo, el Amado, mi Elegido.”
