Sunday readings come in three cycles: A, B, and C. Sundays also have 3 readings, the first reading is from the Old Testament, the second is ordinarily from one of the Epistles or Letters of the New Testament. The third reading is the Gospel. Matthew is read on year A, Mark on year B, and Luke on year C. John's Gospel comes at various times in each liturgical year: on Advent and Lent Sundays and in some readings of year B. Sunday readings are typically posted along with obligatory Mass days.

ReplyDeleteResponsorial Psalm (Psalm 67) (Verses 2-3, 5-6, and 8)
ReplyDeleteThe response is: May God bless us in his mercy.
May God be gracious and bless us; may he let his face shine upon us, that you way be known on earth and your salvation among the nations.
May the countries be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples with justice and guide the nations of the world.
May the peoples praise you, O God, may all the peoples praise you! May God bless us and be revered, to the very ends of the earth.
On New Year’s day we have a special celebration by renewing the couples' marriage vows. This will take place after the communion rite and the Lord's Prayer. When the priest states, "Let us offer each other the sign of peace.", this is when the ritual begins.
ReplyDeleteAfter the sign of peace is offered in the communion rite, the couples who will renew their marriage vows go to the front of the altar, as they are called. When the space is fully occupied, the remaining couples line up at the middle corridor facing the altar. Each couple stands side by side.
ReplyDeleteThe Priest states: Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, we are gathered here in the sight and love of God, to join these couples in their marriage vows renewal. We remind them of having performed and now are performing an act of complete faith in each other; that the heart of their marriage will be the relationship they create. In a world where faithfulness often falls short of its initial commitment, it is a tribute to these couples who now join hands and hearts in perfect faith.
After this statement, the couples will face each other and hold hands.
The Priest states: Our Father in heaven, creator, and preserver of all mankind, giver of all spiritual grace, the author of everlasting life, send thy/your blessing upon these couples, whom we bless in thy/your name, that they, keep living faithfully together and may ever remain in perfect love and peace together. Amen.
Husbands, it may have been a year or years that you first pledged your commitment to your wife. Today, you want to renew those vows and again pledge your love and life to your wife. Do you promise to keep living with your wife together in the holy estate of matrimony?
Husbands should reply: I do.
The Priest states: Do you promise to keep loving, comforting, and honoring your wife in sickness and health, in middle and old age, in good and bad days?
Husbands should reply: I do.
The Priest states: Do you promise to grow and guide the children that God may have entrusted or will entrust to you with love and compassion?
Husbands should reply: I do.
The Priest states: Wives, it may have been a year or years that you first pledge your commitment to your husband. Today, you want to renew those vows and again pledge your love and life to your husband. Do you promise to keep living with your husband together in the holy estate to matrimony?
Wives should reply: I do.
The Priest states: Do you promise to keep loving, comforting, and honoring your husband in sickness and health, in middle and old age, in good and bad days?
Wives should reply: I do.
The Priest states: Do you promise to grow and guide the children that God may have entrusted or will entrust to you with love and compassion?
Wives should reply: I do.
The Priest states: In the years which shall bring the couples into greater age and wisdom, we pray that their love shall be ever young; that they shall be able always to recover from moments of despair. In this hope may they keep the vows renewed on this day, loving and honoring each other and that they share the fruits of their life together. Those whom God hath joined together let no one put asunder.
Then everybody responds: Amen.
After the ritual, the Master of Ceremony will request for the couples to remain standing in their positions. The choir will sing "Lamb of God", the priest and the congregation will sing accordingly. Everybody kneels after this point, and when the priest states: "Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the Supper of the Lamb.", everybody will reply: "Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed."
ReplyDeleteThen the Priest consumes the Body of Christ and distributes the Body of Christ to the Eucharistic Ministers and Altar Servers at the altar. Then the Priest drinks the Blood of Christ and distributes to Blood of Christ to the Eucharistic Ministers only. Finally, the Priest distributes the communion to the disciples. After this, the couples may return to their pews. All Eucharistic Ministers and Altar Servers go to the assigned regular location to distribute communion to the rest of the congregation.
During the blessing, before the recessional phase, all couples stand in their assigned positions in front of the altar. There they will be blessed and given holy water.
This is the Kyrie for the Solemnity of Mary; Mother of God.
ReplyDeletePriest: Lord Jesus, you listened to our cry for help and came to save us. Lord, have mercy.
Congregation: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: Jesus Christ, your Spirit cries out in us, "Abba, Father!". Christ, have mercy.
Congregation: Christ, have mercy.
Priest: Lord Jesus, you made us sons and daughters, heirs of your Kingdom. Lord, have mercy.
Congregation: Lord, have mercy.
Let us pray. O God, who through the fruitful virginity of Blessed Mary bestowed on the human race the grace of eternal salvation, grant, as we pray, that we may experience the intercession of her, through whom we were found worthy to receive the author of life, our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
ReplyDeleteA new year lies ahead of us as a year of new opportunities. Let us turn with the fulles trust to the Father of all, whose sons and daughters we are, and let us say: Lord, give us your blessing and peace.
ReplyDeleteThat the People of God may not be divided, that nobody may obstinately stay behind on old roads that are dead-end streets, and that nobody may obstinately turn to new roads of self-will, let us insistently pray to the Lord. Lord, give us your blessing and peace.
That the leaders of nations may seek a just and lasting peace based on the recognition of the rights and dignity of all peoples, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, give us your blessing and peace.
That our Christian communities may be centers of joy and hope and protectors of all life; that our faith and unity may bear witness to the presence of Christ, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, give us your blessing and peace.
That orphans may find security in the homes of compassionate people; that we may give to our youth a future to believe in, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, give us your blessing and peace.
Lord, in your Holy name, obtain for us from your Heavenly Father, his providence of the Saint Peter Canisius International Catholic Parish. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord, give us your blessing and peace.
Let us pray silently to our Lord and offer our own personal intentions.
Lord our God, you are the beginning and the end of all that is beautiful and good. Complete what you have begun in us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, who in your kindness begin all good things and bring them to fulfillment, grant to us, who find joy in the Solemnity of the holy Mother of God, that, just as we glory in the beginnings of your grace, so one day we may rejoice in its completion; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, and to praise, bless, and glorify your name on the Solemnity of the Motherhood of the Blessed ever-Virgin Mary. For by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit she conceived your Only Begotten Son, and without losing the glory of virginity, brought forth into the world the eternal Light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him the Angels praise your majesty, Dominions adore and Powers tremble before you. Heaven and the Virtues of heaven and the blessed Seraphim worship together with exultation. May our voices, we pray, join with theirs in humble praise, as we acclaim. (After this, you sing the Sanctus.)
ReplyDeleteWe have received this heavenly Sacrament with joy, O Lord: grant, we pray, that it may lead us to eternal life, for we rejoice to proclaim the blessed ever-Virgin Mary Mother of your Son and Mother of the Church; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
ReplyDeleteMay God, the source and origin of all blessing, grant you grace, pour out his blessing in abundance, and keep you safe from harm throughout the year. Amen.
ReplyDeleteMay he give you integrity in the faith, endurance in hope, and perseverance in charity with holy patience to the end. Amen.
May he order your days and your deeds in his peace, grant your prayers in this and every place, and lead you happily to eternal life. Amen.
And may the blessing of almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, come down on you and remain with you forever. Amen.
The Mass has ended, and you are sent, therefore go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life. Thanks be to God.
