First Reading (Acts 8: 5–8 and 14–17)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
Philip went down to a town of Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. All the people paid close attention to what Philip stated as they listened to him and saw the miraculous signs which he did. For in cases of possession, the unclean spirits came out shrieking loudly. Many people who were paralyzed or crippled were healed. So there was great joy in that town. Now, when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the Samaritans had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. They went down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, for he had not as yet come down upon any of them since they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. So Peter and John laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.
Second Reading (1 Peter 3: 15–18)
A reading from the first letter of Saint Peter.
Beloved: Bless the Lord Christ in your hearts. Always have an answer ready when you are called upon to account for your hope, but give it simply and with respect. Keep your conscience clear so that those who slander you may be put to shame by your upright, Christian living. Better to suffer for doing good, if it is God's will, than for doing wrong. Remember how Christ died, once and for all, for our sins. He, the just one, died for the unjust in order to lead us to God. He died as humans do, but was raised to life by the Spirit.
Gospel (John 14: 15–21)

Jesus stated this to his disciples, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments; and I will ask the Father and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever, that Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him for he is with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans, I am coming to you. A little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me because I live and you will also live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father and you in me, and I in you. Whoever keeps my commandments is the one who loves me. If he loves me, he will also be loved by my Father; I too shall love him and show myself clearly to him."

Shout with joy to God, all you on earth; sing to the glory of his name; proclaim his glorious praise. Say to God, "How great are your deeds!"
All the earth bows down to you, making music in praise of you, singing in honor of your name. Come and see God's wonders, his deeds awesome for humans.
He has turned the sea into dry land, and the river was crossed on foot. Let us, therefore, rejoice in him. He rules by his might forever.
All you who fear God, come and listen; let me tell you what he has done. May God be blessed! He has not rejected my prayer; nor withheld his love from me.

Felipe descendió a una ciudad de Samaria y allí predicaba a Cristo. Al oírlo y al ver los milagros que hacía, todos recibían unánimemente las palabras de Felipe. Porque los espíritus impuros, dando grandes gritos, salían de muchos que estaban poseídos, y buen número de paralíticos y lisiados quedaron curados. Y fue grande la alegría de aquella ciudad. Cuando los Apóstoles que estaban en Jerusalén oyeron que los samaritanos habían recibido la Palabra de Dios, les enviaron a Pedro y a Juan. Estos, al llegar, oraron por ellos para que recibieran el Espíritu Santo. Porque todavía no había descendido sobre ninguno de ellos, sino que solamente estaban bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesús. Entonces les impusieron las manos y recibieron el Espíritu Santo.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 66) (Versículos 1–3ª, 4–7ª, 16 y 20)
La respuesta es: Que toda la tierra aclame a Dios con alegría.
• ¡Aclame a Dios toda la tierra! ¡Canten la gloria de su Nombre! Tribútenle una alabanza gloriosa, digan a Dios: “¡Qué admirables son tus obras!”
• Toda la tierra se postra ante ti, y canta en tu honor, en honor de tu Nombre. Vengan a ver las obras de Dios, las cosas admirables que hizo por los hombres.
• Él convirtió el Mar en tierra firme, a pie atravesaron el Río. Por eso, alegrémonos en él, que gobierna eternamente con su fuerza.
• Los que temen a Dios, vengan a escuchar, yo les contaré lo que hizo por mí. Bendito sea Dios, que no rechazó mi oración ni apartó de mí su misericordia.
Segunda Lectura (1 Pedro 3: 15–18)
Una lectura de la primera carta de San Pedro.
Bendigan en sus corazones al Señor, a Cristo; estén siempre dispuestos para dar una respuesta a quien les pida cuenta de su esperanza, pero háganlo con sencillez y deferencia, sabiendo que tienen la conciencia limpia. De este modo, si alguien los acusa, la vergüenza será para aquellos que calumnian la vida recta de los cristianos. Es mejor sufrir por hacer el bien, si tal es la voluntad de Dios, que por hacer el mal. Pues Cristo murió una vez por el pecado y para llevarnos a Dios, siendo ésta la muerte del justo por los injustos. Murió en su carne, y luego resucitó por el Espíritu.
Evangelio (Juan 14: 15–21)

Jesús les dijo a sus discípulos, “Si ustedes me aman, cumplirán mis mandamientos. Y yo rogaré al Padre, y él les dará otro Paráclito para que esté siempre con ustedes: el Espíritu de la Verdad, a quien el mundo no puede recibir, porque no lo ve ni lo conoce. Ustedes, en cambio, lo conocen, porque él permanece con ustedes y estará en ustedes. No los dejaré huérfanos, volveré a ustedes. Dentro de poco el mundo ya no me verá, pero ustedes sí me verán, porque yo vivo y también ustedes vivirán. Aquel día comprenderán que yo estoy en mi Padre, y que ustedes están en mí y yo en ustedes. El que recibe mis mandamientos y los cumple, ese es el que me ama; y el que me ama será amado por mi Padre, y yo lo amaré y me manifestaré a él.”

Dan Filipus pergi ke suatu kota di Samaria dan memberitakan Mesias kepada orang-orang di situ. Ketika orang banyak itu mendengar pemberitaan Filipus dan melihat tanda-tanda yang diadakannya, mereka semua dengan bulat hati menerima apa yang diberitakannya itu. Sebab dari banyak orang yang kerasukan roh jahat keluarlah roh-roh itu sambil berseru dengan suara keras, dan banyak juga orang lumpuh dan orang timpang yang disembuhkan. Maka sangatlah besar sukacita dalam kota itu. Ketika rasul-rasul di Yerusalem mendengar, bahwa tanah Samaria telah menerima firman Allah, mereka mengutus Petrus dan Yohanes ke situ. Setibanya di situ kedua rasul itu berdoa, supaya orang-orang Samaria itu beroleh Roh Kudus. Sebab Roh Kudus belum turun di atas seorangpun di antara mereka, karena mereka hanya dibaptis dalam nama Tuhan Yesus. Kemudian keduanya menumpangkan tangan di atas mereka, lalu mereka menerima Roh Kudus.

Sebab lebih baik menderita karena berbuat baik, jika hal itu dikehendaki Allah, dari pada menderita karena berbuat jahat. Sebab juga Kristus telah mati sekali untuk segala dosa kita, Ia yang benar untuk orang-orang yang tidak benar, supaya Ia membawa kita kepada Allah; Ia, yang telah dibunuh dalam keadaan-Nya sebagai manusia, tetapi yang telah dibangkitkan menurut Roh.

Dunia tidak dapat menerima Dia, sebab dunia tidak melihat Dia dan tidak mengenal Dia. Tetapi kamu mengenal Dia, sebab Ia menyertai kamu dan akan diam di dalam kamu. Aku tidak akan meninggalkan kamu sebagai yatim piatu. Aku datang kembali kepadamu. Tinggal sesaat lagi dan dunia tidak akan melihat Aku lagi, tetapi kamu melihat Aku, sebab Aku hidup dan kamupun akan hidup. Pada waktu itulah kamu akan tahu, bahwa Aku di dalam Bapa-Ku dan kamu di dalam Aku dan Aku di dalam kamu. Barangsiapa memegang perintah-Ku dan melakukannya, dialah yang mengasihi Aku. Dan barangsiapa mengasihi Aku, ia akan dikasihi oleh Bapa-Ku dan Akupun akan mengasihi dia dan akan menyatakan diri-Ku kepadanya."
