Chrism Mass
First Reading (Isaiah 61: 1–3, 6a, and 8b–9)
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up broken hearts, to proclaim liberty to the captives, freedom to those languishing in prison; to announce the year of Yahweh's favor and the day of vengeance of our God; to give comfort to all who grieve; (to comfort those who mourn in Zion) and give them a garland instead of ashes, oil of gladness instead of mourning, and festal clothes instead of despair. They will be called oaks off integrity planted by Yahweh to show his glory. But you will be named priests of Yahweh, I will give them their due reward and make an everlasting covenant with them. Their descendants shall be known among the nations and their offerspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a race Yahweh has blessed.
Second Reading (Revelation 1: 5–8)

From Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has washed away our sins with his own blood, making us a kingdom and priests for God his Father, to him be the glory and power forever and ever. Amen. See he comes with the clouds and everyone will see him, even those who pierced him; on his account all the nations of the earth will beat his breast. Yes. It will be so. "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, he who is, who was and who is to come: the Master of the universe.
Gospel (Luke 4: 16–21)

When Jesus came to Nazareth where he had been brought up, he entered the synagogue on the sabbath as he usually did. He stood up to read and they handed him the book of the prophet Isaiah. Jesus then unrolled the scroll and found the place where it is written: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and new sight to the blind; to free the oppressed and announce the Lord's year of mercy." Jesus then rolled up the scroll, gave it to the attendant and sat down, while the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he said to them, "Today these prophetic words come true even as you listen."
Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper
First Reading (Exodus 12: 1–8, 11–14)

The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt and stated, "This month is to be the beginning of all months, the first month of your year. Speak to the community of Israel and say to them: On the tenth day of this month, let each family take a lamb, a lamb for each house. If the family is too small for a lamb, they must join with a neighbor, the nearest to the house, according to the number of people and what each one can eat. You will select a perfect lamb without blemish, a male born during the present year, taken from the sheep or goats. Then you will keep it until the fourteenth day of the month. On that evening all the people will slaughter their lambs and take some of the blood to put on the doorposts and on top of the door frames of the houses where you eat. That night, you will eat the flesh roasted at the fire with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. And this is how you will eat: with a belt around your waist, sandals on your feet and a staff in your hand. You shall eat hastily for it is a passover in honor of the Lord. On that night I shall go through Egypt and strike every firstborn in Egypt, men and animals; and I will even bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt; I, the Lord! The blood on your houses will be the sign that you are there. I will see the blood and pass over you; and you will escape the mortal plague when I strike Egypt. This is a day you are to remember and celebrate in honor of the Lord. It is to be kept as a festival day for all generations forever."
Second Reading (1 Corinthians 11: 23–26)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.
Brothers and sisters: This is the tradition of the Lord that I received and that in my turn I have handed on to you; the Lord Jesus, on the night that he was delivered up, took bread and after giving thanks, broke it with this statement, "This is my body which is broken for you; do this in memory of me." In the same manner, taking the cup after supper, he states, "This cup is the new Covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink it, do it in memory of me." So then, whenever you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you are proclaiming the death of the Lord until he comes.
Gospel (John 13: 1–15)

It was before the feast of the Passover. Jesus realized that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father, and as he had loved those who were his own in the world, he would loved them with perfect love. They were at supper and the devil had already put into the mind of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had entrusted all things to him, and as he had come from God, he was going to God. So he got up from the table, removed his garment and taking a towel, wrapped it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and wiped them with the towel he was wearing. When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Simon stated to him, "Why, Lord, you want to wash my feet!" Jesus stated, "What I am doing cannot make you understand right now. but afterwards you will understand it." Peter replied, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, then you can have no part with me." Then Simon Peter stated, "Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!" Jesus replied, "Whoever has taken a bath does not need to wash (except the feet), for he is clean all over. You are clean, though not all of you." Jesus knew who was going to betray him; because of this, he stated, "Not all of you are clean." When Jesus had finished washing their feet, he put on his garment again, went back to the table and stated to them, "Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Master and Lord, and you are correct, for so I am. If I, then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet, you also must wash one another's feet. I have just given you an example that as I have done, you also may do."

How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.
It is painful to the Lord to see the death of his faithful. O Lord, I am your servant, truly your servant, your handmaid's son. You have freed me from my bonds.
I will offer you a thanksgiving sacrifice; I will call on the name of the Lord. I will carry out my vows to the Lord is the presence of his people.

¡El Espíritu del Señor Yahvé está sobre mí! sepan que Yahvé me ha ungido. Me ha enviado con un buen mensaje para los humildes, para sanar los corazones heridos, para anunciar a los desterrados su liberación, y a los presos su vuelta a la luz. Para publicar un año feliz lleno de los favores de Yahvé, y el día del desquite de nuestro Dios. Me envió para consolar a los que lloran y darles (a todos los afligidos de Sion) una corona en vez de ceniza, el aceite de los días alegres, en lugar de ropa de luto, cantos de felicidad, en vez de pesimismo. Les pondrán el sobrenombre de “Encinas de Justicia,” “los que Yahvé plantó para su gloria” y ustedes serán llamados “sacerdotes de Yahvé” y los nombrarán “ministros de nuestro Dios.” Pues como yo, Yahvé, amo la justicia y odio el robo y el crimen, les entregaré sin falta su recompensa y haré con ellos un contrato que durará siempre. Sus hijos se harán famosos entre las naciones y sus nietos, en medio de los pueblos. Todos los que los vean reconocerán que son una raza bendecida de Yahvé.

Evangelio (Lucas 4: 16–21)

Jesús fue a Nazaret, donde se había criado; el sábado entró como de costumbre en la sinagoga y se levantó para hacer la lectura. Le presentaron el libro del profeta Isaías y, abriéndolo, encontró el pasaje donde estaba escrito: ‘El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, porque me ha consagrado por la unción. Él me envió a llevar la Buena Noticia a los pobres, a anunciar la liberación a los cautivos y la vista a los ciegos, a dar la libertad a los oprimidos y proclamar un año de gracia del Señor.’ Jesús cerró el Libro, lo devolvió al ayudante y se sentó. Todos en la sinagoga tenían los ojos fijos en él. Entonces comenzó a decirles: “Hoy se ha cumplido este pasaje de la Escritura que acaban de oír.”

Pero, si la familia es demasiado pequeña para consumir el cordero, se pondrá de acuerdo con el vecino más cercano, según el número de personas y conforme a lo que cada cual pueda comer. Ustedes escogerán un corderito sin defecto, macho, nacido en el año. En lugar de un cordero podrán tomar también un cabrito. Ustedes lo reservarán hasta el día catorce de este mes. Entonces toda la comunidad de Israel lo sacrificará al anochecer. En cada casa en que lo coman ustedes tomarán de su sangre para untar los postes y la parte superior de la puerta. Esa misma noche comerán la carne asada al fuego; la comerán con panes sin levadura y con verduras amargas. Y comerán así: ceñidos con el cinturón, las sandalias en los pies y el bastón en la mano. Ustedes no se demorarán en comerlo: es una pascua en honor de Yahvé. • ¿Con qué pagaré al Señor todo el bien que me hizo? Alzaré la copa de la salvación e invocaré el nombre del Señor.

Antes de la fiesta de Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que había llegado la hora de pasar de este mundo al Padre, él, que había amado a los suyos que quedaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el fin. Durante la Cena, cuando el demonio ya había inspirado a Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón, el propósito de entregarlo, sabiendo Jesús que el Padre había puesto todo en sus manos y que él había venido de Dios y volvía a Dios, se levantó de la mesa, se sacó el manto y tomando una toalla se la ató a la cintura. Luego echó agua en un recipiente y empezó a lavar los pies a los discípulos y a secárselos con la toalla que tenía en la cintura. Cuando se acercó a Simón Pedro, este le dijo: “¿Tú, Señor, me vas a lavar los pies a mí?” Jesús le respondió: “No puedes comprender ahora lo que estoy haciendo, pero después lo comprenderás.” “No, le dijo Pedro, ¡tú jamás me lavarás los pies a mí!” Jesús le respondió: “Si yo no te lavo, no podrás compartir mi suerte.” “Entonces, Señor,” le dijo Simón Pedro, “¡no sólo los pies, sino también las manos y la cabeza!” Jesús le dijo: “El que se ha bañado no necesita lavarse más que los pies, porque está completamente limpio. Ustedes también están limpios, aunque no todos.” Él sabía quién lo iba a entregar, y por eso había dicho: “No todos ustedes están limpios.” Después de haberles lavado los pies, se puso el manto, volvió a la mesa y les dijo: “¿comprenden lo que acabo de hacer con ustedes?
