First Reading (Deuteronomy 8: 2–3 and 14b–16a)
A reading from the book of Deuteronomy.
Remember how the Lord, your God, brought you through the desert for forty years. He humbled you, to test you and know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. He made you experience want, he made you experience hunger, but he gave you manna to eat which neither you nor your fathers had known, to show you that man lives not on bread alone, but that all that proceeds from the mouth of God is life for man. Do not forget the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of slavery. It is he who has led you across this great and terrible desert, full of fiery serpents and scorpions, an arid land where there is no water. But for you he made water gush forth from the hardest rock. And he fed you in the desert with manna which your fathers did not know.
Second Reading (1 Corinthians 10: 16–17)
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.
Brothers and sisters: The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a communion with the blood of Christ? And the bread that we break, is it not a communion with the body of Christ? The bread is one, and so we, though many, form one body, sharing the one bread.
Gospel (John 6: 51–58)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
Jesus stated this to the Jews: "I am the living bread which has come from heaven; whoever eats of this bread will live forever. The bread I shall give is my flesh and I will give it for the life of the world." The Jews were arguing among themselves, "How can this man give us flesh to eat?" So Jesus replied, "Truly, I say to you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood live with eternal life and I will raise him up on the last day. My flesh is really food and my blood is drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood, live in me and I in them. Just as the Father, who is life, sent me and I have life from the Father, so whoever eats me will have life from me. This is the bread which came from heaven; unlike that of your ancestors, who ate and later died. Those who eat this bread will live forever."

Exalt the Lord, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion! For he strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your children within you.
He grants peace on your borders and feeds you with the finest grain. He sends his command to the earth and swiftly runs his word.
It is he who tells Jacob his words, his laws and decrees to Israel. This he has not done for other nations, so his laws remain unknown to them. Alleluia!

Acuérdate del camino que Yahvé, tu Dios, te hizo recorrer en el desierto por espacio de cuarenta años. Te hizo pasar necesidad para probarte y conocer lo que había en tu corazón, si ibas o no a guardar sus mandamientos. Te hizo pasar necesidad, te hizo pasar hambre, y luego te dio a comer maná que ni tú ni tus padres habían conocido. Quería enseñarte que no sólo de pan vive el hombre, sino que todo lo que sale de la boca de Dios es vida para el hombre. No olvides a Yahvé, tu Dios, que te sacó del país de Egipto, de la Casa de la esclavitud, y que te ha conducido a través de este desierto grande y terrible, lleno de serpientes-abrasadoras y escorpiones, tierra árida donde no hay agua. Pero para ti la hizo brotar de una roca dura, y te alimentó en el desierto con el maná, que no conocían tus padres.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 147) (Versículos 12–15 y 19–20)
La respuesta es: Alaben al Señor, Jerusalén.
• ¡Glorifica al Señor, Jerusalén, alaba a tu Dios, Sión! Él reforzó los cerrojos de tus puertas y bendijo a tus hijos dentro de ti.
• Él asegura la paz en tus fronteras y te sacia con lo mejor del trigo. Envía su mensaje a la tierra, su palabra corre velozmente.
• Revela su palabra a Jacob, sus preceptos y mandatos a Israel: a ningún otro pueblo trató así ni le dio a conocer sus mandamientos. ¡Aleluya!
Segunda Lectura (1 Corintios 10: 16–17)
Una lectura de la primera carta de San Pablo a los Corintios.
La copa de bendición que bendecimos, ¿no es acaso comunión con la Sangre de Cristo? Y el pan que partimos, ¿no es comunión con el Cuerpo de Cristo? Ya que hay un solo pan, todos nosotros, aunque somos muchos, formamos un solo Cuerpo, porque participamos de ese único pan.
Evangelio (Juan 6: 51–58)
Una lectura del Evangelio Santo según el San Juan.
Jesús les dijo a los judíos: “Yo soy el pan vivo bajado del cielo. El que coma de este pan vivirá eternamente, y el pan que yo daré es mi carne para la Vida del mundo.” Los judíos discutían entre sí, diciendo: “¿Cómo este hombre puede darnos a comer su carne?” Jesús les respondió: “Les aseguro que si no comen la carne del Hijo del hombre y no beben su sangre, no tendrán Vida en ustedes. El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre tiene Vida eterna, y yo lo resucitaré en el último día. Porque mi carne es la verdadera comida y mi sangre, la verdadera bebida. El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre permanece en mí y yo en él. Así como yo, que he sido enviado por el Padre que tiene Vida, vivo por el Padre, de la misma manera, el que me come vivirá por mí. Este es el pan bajado del cielo; no como el que comieron sus padres y murieron. El que coma de este pan vivirá eternamente.”

DeletePadre Mario discute sobre la transubstanciación de pan y vino. El pan se convierte en cuerpo de Jesús mientras el vino se convierte en sangre de Jesús. Además habló sobre su viaje a Papúa Nueva Guinea, donde los residentes se comen los seres humanos blancos.

Ingatlah kepada seluruh perjalanan yang kaulakukan atas kehendak TUHAN, Allahmu, di padang gurun selama empat puluh tahun ini dengan maksud merendahkan hatimu dan mencobai engkau untuk mengetahui apa yang ada dalam hatimu, yakni, apakah engkau berpegang pada perintah-Nya atau tidak. Jadi Ia merendahkan hatimu, membiarkan engkau lapar dan memberi engkau makan manna, yang tidak kaukenal dan yang juga tidak dikenal oleh nenek moyangmu, untuk membuat engkau mengerti, bahwa manusia hidup bukan dari roti saja, tetapi manusia hidup dari segala yang diucapkan TUHAN. Bukankah cawan pengucapan syukur, yang atasnya kita ucapkan syukur, adalah persekutuan dengan darah Kristus? Bukankah roti yang kita pecah-pecahkan adalah persekutuan dengan tubuh Kristus? Karena roti adalah satu, maka kita, sekalipun banyak, adalah satu tubuh, karena kita semua mendapat bagian dalam roti yang satu itu.

El viernes, me detuvo la policía en la intersección de la avenida en Connecticut y Ortigas. Me dijo, “Señor, se ha implementado el esquema de código ahora.” Sabíamos que el esquema de código empieza a las siete en la mañana. Le respondí, “Pero, ahora es a las 6:15, ¿no?” Le mostré mi reloj. Nos equivocamos gravemente. Mi reloj indica el tiempo: 6:17 en la mañana.

DeleteMe miró fijamente con incredulidad. Le devolví la reacción. Era un viernes; supe que "contrataqué" con éxito a la policía. Aunque quisiera regodearme en este acontecimiento, me controlé e hice algo caritativo: salí del lugar donde se dejó atónito.

DeleteLo dijiste, mamá. Había una vez la policía nos detuvo en los años 80, la policía pidió la licencia de nuestro chófer y le planificaba cómo remediar la situación de inmediato. Cuando mi mamá se dio cuenta lo que sucedía, mi madre les gritó a tanto el chófer como la policía: “¡NO LE DÉS TU LICENCIA! ¡Esto es por qué nuestra nación no se desarrolla!” Y mi mamá lo hizo sin vergüenza. No puedo recordar ahora si el chófer, para que no cause un escándalo, le dio avergonzadamente su licencia o no a la policía.
