New American Bible readings
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.
As the rain and the snow come down from the heavens and do not return till they have watered the earth, making it yield seed for the sower and food for others to eat, so is my word that goes forth out of my mouth: it will not return to me idle, but it shall accomplish my will, the purpose for which it has been sent.
Second reading (Romans 8: 18–23)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.
Brothers and sisters: I consider that the suffering of our present life cannot be compared with the Glory that will be revealed and given to us. All creation is eagerly expecting the birth in glory of the children of God. For if now the created world was unable to attain its purpose, this did not come from itself, but from the one who subjected it. But it is not without hope; for even the created world will be freed from this fate of death and share the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation groans and suffers that pangs of birth. Not creation alone, but even ourselves, although the Spirit was given to us as a foretaste of what we are to receive, we groan in our innermost being, eagerly awaiting the day when God will give us full rights and rescue our bodies as well.
Gospel (Matthew 13: 1–23)

That same day Jesus left the house and sat down by the lakeside. As many people gathered around him, he got in a boat. There he sat while the whole crowd stood on the shore, and he spoke to them in parables about many things. Jesus stated, "The sower went out to sow and, as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path and the birds came and ate them up. Other seeds fell on rocky ground where there was little soil, and the seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was not deep. But as soon as the sun rose the plants were scorched and withered because they had no roots. Again other seeds fell among thistles; and the thistles grew and choked the plants. Still other seeds fell on good soil and produced a crop; some produced a hundredfold, others sixty and others thirty. If you have ears, then hear!" Then his disciples came to him with the question, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" Jesus answered, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but not to these people. For the one who has, will be given more and he will have in abundance. But the one who does not have will be deprived of even what he has. That is why I speak to them in parables, because they look and do not see; they hear, but they do not listen or understand. In them the words of the prophet Isaiah were fulfilled: Much as you hear, you do not understand; much as you see, you do not perceive. For the heart of this people has grown dull. Their ears hardly hear and their eyes dare not see. If they were to see with their eyes, hear with their ears and understand with their heart, they would turn back and I would heal them. But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears, because they hear. For I tell you that many prophets and upright people would have longed to see the things you see, but they did not, and to hear the things you hear, but they did not hear it. Now listen to the parable of the sower. When a person hears the message of the Kingdom but without taking it to himself, the devil comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed that fell along the footpath. The seed that fell on rocky ground stands for the one who hears the word and accepts it at once with joy. But this fickle and has no roots. No sooner is harassed or persecuted because of the word, than he gives up. The seed that fell among the thistles is the one who hears the word, but then the worries of this life and the love of money choke the word, and it does not bear fruit. As for the seed that fell on good soil it is the one who hears the word and understands it; this bears fruit and produces a hundred, or sixty, or thirty times more."

Brothers and sisters: I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us. For creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God; for creation was made subject to futility, not of its own accord but because of the one who subjected it, in hope that creation itself would be set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

Whoever has ears ought to hear.” The disciples approached him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” He said to them in reply, “Because knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted. To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand. Isaiah's prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says: You shall indeed hear but not understand, you shall indeed look but never see. Gross is the heart of this people, they will hardly hear with their ears, they have closed their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and be converted, and I heal them. “But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. “Hear then the parable of the sower. The seed sown on the path is the one who hears the word of the kingdom without understanding it, and the evil one comes and steals away what was sown in his heart. The seed sown on rocky ground is the one who hears the word and receives it at once with joy. But he has no root and lasts only for a time. When some tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, he immediately falls away. The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but then worldly anxiety and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit. But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.”

You water the land and care for it, enriching it with natural resources. God's stream is filled with water; so you prepare the earth to give us its fruits.
You drench the furrows in the land and level the ridges, you soften the soil with showers and bless its crops. You crown the year with your goodness; abundance flows everywhere.
The deserts have become pasture land, the hills are clothed with gladness, the meadows covered with flocks, they valleys decked with grain — they shout and sing for joy.

No volverá a mí con las manos vacías sino después de haber hecho lo que yo quería, y haber llevado a cabo lo que le encargué.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 65) (Versículos 10–14)
La respuesta es: La semilla que se siembra en buena tierra producirá cosechas fructíferas.
• Visitas la tierra, la haces fértil y la colmas de riquezas; los canales de Dios desbordan de agua, y así preparas sus trigales.
• Riegas los surcos de la tierra, emparejas sus terrones; la ablandas con aguaceros y bendices sus brotes. Tú coronas el año con tus bienes, y a tu paso rebosa la abundancia.

Yo considero que los sufrimientos del tiempo presente no pueden compararse con la gloria futura que se revelará en nosotros. En efecto, toda la creación espera ansiosamente esta revelación de los hijos de Dios. Ella quedó sujeta a la vanidad, no voluntariamente, sino por causa de quien la sometió, pero conservando una esperanza porque también la creación será liberada de la esclavitud de la corrupción para participar de la gloriosa libertad de los hijos de Dios. Sabemos que la creación entera, hasta el presente, gime y sufre dolores de parto. Y no sólo ella: también nosotros, que poseemos las primicias del Espíritu, gemimos interiormente anhelando que se realice la redención de nuestro cuerpo.

Sebab dengan sangat rindu seluruh makhluk menantikan saat anak-anak Allah dinyatakan. Karena seluruh makhluk telah ditaklukkan kepada kesia-siaan, bukan oleh kehendaknya sendiri, tetapi oleh kehendak Dia, yang telah menaklukkannya, tetapi dalam pengharapan, karena makhluk itu sendiri juga akan dimerdekakan dari perbudakan kebinasaan dan masuk ke dalam kemerdekaan kemuliaan anak-anak Allah. Sebab kita tahu, bahwa sampai sekarang segala makhluk sama-sama mengeluh dan sama-sama merasa sakit bersalin. Dan bukan hanya mereka saja, tetapi kita yang telah menerima karunia sulung Roh, kita juga mengeluh dalam hati kita sambil menantikan pengangkatan sebagai anak, yaitu pembebasan tubuh kita.

Yang ditaburkan di tanah yang baik ialah orang yang mendengar firman itu dan mengerti, dan karena itu ia berbuah, ada yang seratus kali lipat, ada yang enam puluh kali lipat, ada yang tiga puluh kali lipat."
Estoy orgulloso por ustedes. Tras el transcurso de 48 horas, mis compañeros y yo sobrevivimos con dos horas de sueño, una comida cada día, y montón de café. ¡Pero los saltos y brincos que hacemos para empujarnos a nuestros límites valían la pena! Tengo que admitir, nuestro grupo se temía que los evaluadores odiaran nuestra presentación o pensaran que fuese estúpida, ¡pero recibimos las recompensas de mejor ejecución, mejor historia, y la mejor presentación de las todas! Fue surreal y una experiencia inolvidable, pero ¡la hicimos! ¡Muchas gracias a Doctor Al por animarnos en cada paso del proceso!
