First Reading (Proverbs 31: 10–13, 19–20, and 30–31)
A reading from the book of Proverbs.
The woman of character, where is she to be found? She is more precious than any jewel. Her husband has complete confidence in her; she will be of great benefit to him. She brings him only good and not evil, all the days of her life. She has obtained wool and flax, and works them with skillful hands. She puts her hand to the distaff and her fingers hold the spindle. She reaches out her hand to the helpless and gives to the poor. Charm is deceptive and beauty useless; the woman who is wise is the one to praise. May she enjoy the fruits of her labor and may all praise her for her works.
Second Reading (1 Thessalonians 5: 1–6)
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians.
Brothers and sisters: You do not need anyone to write to you about the delay and the appointed time for these events. You know that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. When people feel secure and at peace, the disaster will suddenly come upon them as the birth pangs of a woman in labor, and they will not escape. But you, beloved, are not in darkness; so that day will not surprise you like a thief. All of you are citizens of the light and the day; we do not belong to night and darkness. Let us not, therefore, sleep as others do, but remain alert and sober.
Gospel (Matthew 25: 14–30)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew.
Jesus stated this parable to his disciples: "Imagine someone, who, before going abroad, summoned his servants to entrust his property to them. He gave five talents of silver to one, then two to another, and one to a third, each one according to his ability; and he went away. He who receive five talents went at once to do business with the money and gained another five. The one who received two did the same and gained another two. But the one with one talent dug a hole and hid his master's money. After a long time, the master of those servants returned and asked for a reckoning. The one who received five talents came with another five talents, stating: 'Lord, you entrusted me with five talents, but see I have gained five more with them.' The master answered: 'Very well, good and faithful servant, since you have been faithful in a few things, I will entrust you with much more. Come and share the joy of your master.' Then the one who had two talents came and stated: 'Lord, you entrusted me with two talents; I have two more which I gained with them.' The master stated: 'Well, good and faithful servant, since you have been faithful in little things, I will entrust you with much more. Come and share the joy of your master.' Finally, the one who had received a talent came and stated: 'Master, I know that you are an exacting man. You reap what you have not sown and gather what you have not invested. I was afraid, so I hid your money in the ground. Here, take what is yours.' But his master replied: 'Wicked and worthless servant, you know that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not invested. Then you should have deposited my money in the bank, and you would have given it back to me with interest on my return. Therefore, take the talent from him, and give it to the one who has ten. For to all those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance; but from those who are unproductive, even what they have will be taken from them. As for that useless servant, throw him out into the dark where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'"

Blessed are you who fear the Lord and walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your toil; you will be blessed and favored.
Your wife, like a vine, will bear fruits in your home; your children, like olive shoots will stand around your table.
Such are the blessings bestowed upon the man who fears the Lord. May the Lord bless you from Zion. May you see Jerusalem prosperous all the days of your life.

Lord God, may the gifts we offer increase our love for you and bring us to eternal life. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.

All times and season obey your laws, but you chose to create man in your own image, setting him over the whole world in all its wonder. You made man the steward of creation to praise you day by day for the marvels of your wisdom and power, through Jesus Christ our Lord. We praise you, Lord, with all the angels and saints, in their song of joy. (After this, you sing the Sanctus.)

ReplyDeleteOur life with all that we are and all that we have, is not ours to possess, for it is a trust from God. Not to keep safety in a hole in the ground but given with the responsibility to work with as best as we can, each according to his ability. May almighty God give you the courage to serve him and people with all that is in you, and may he bless you: the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Mass has ended, and you are sent, therefore let us go in the peace of Christ and be his good and faithful servants. Thanks be to God.

Una buena ama de casa, ¿quién la encontrará? Es mucho más valiosa que las perlas. El corazón de su marido confía en ella y no le faltará compensación. Ella le hace el bien, y nunca el mal, todos los días de su vida. Se procura la lana y el lino, y trabaja de buena gana con sus manos. Aplica sus manos a la rueca y sus dedos manejan el huso. Abre su mano al desvalido y tiende sus brazos al indigente. Engañoso es el encanto y vana la hermosura: la mujer que teme al Señor merece ser alabada. Entréguenle el fruto de sus manos y que sus obras la alaben públicamente.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 128) (Versículos 1–5)
La respuesta es: Felices son los que temen al Señor.
• ¡Feliz el que teme al Señor y sigue sus caminos! Comerás del fruto de tu trabajo, serás feliz y todo te irá bien.
• Tu esposa será como una vid fecunda en el seno de tu hogar; tus hijos, como retoños de olivo alrededor de tu mesa.

Cuando la gente afirme que hay paz y seguridad, la destrucción caerá sobre ellos repentinamente, como los dolores de parto sobre una mujer embarazada, y nadie podrá escapar. Pero ustedes, hermanos, no viven en las tinieblas para que ese Día los sorprenda como un ladrón: todos ustedes son hijos de la luz, hijos del día. Nosotros no pertenecemos a la noche ni a las tinieblas. No nos durmamos, entonces, como hacen los otros: permanezcamos despiertos y seamos sobrios.
Evangelio (Mateo 25: 14–30)

“Escuchen también esto. Un hombre estaba a punto de partir a tierras lejanas, y reunió a sus servidores para confiarles todas sus pertenencias. Al primero le dio cinco talentos de oro, a otro le dio dos, y al tercero solamente uno, a cada cual según su capacidad. Después se marchó. El que recibió cinco talentos negoció en seguida con el dinero y ganó otros cinco. El que recibió dos hizo otro tanto, y ganó otros dos. Pero el que recibió uno cavó un hoyo en la tierra y escondió el dinero de su patrón. Después de mucho tiempo vino el señor de esos servidores y les pidió cuentas. El que había recibido cinco talentos le presentó otros cinco más, diciéndole: ‘Señor, tú me entregaste cinco talentos, pero aquí están otros cinco más que gané con ellos.’ El patrón le contestó: ‘Muy bien, servidor bueno y honrado; ya que has sido fiel en lo poco, yo te voy a confiar mucho más. Ven a compartir la alegría de tu patrón.’ Vino después el que recibió dos, y dijo: ‘Señor, tú me entregaste dos talentos, pero aquí tienes otros dos más que gané con ellos.’ El patrón le dijo: ‘Muy bien, servidor bueno y honrado; ya que has sido fiel en lo poco, yo te confiaré mucho más. Ven a compartir la alegría de tu patrón’. Por último vino el que había recibido un solo talento y dijo: ‘Señor, yo sabía que eres un hombre exigente, que cosechas donde no has sembrado y recoges donde no has invertido. Por eso yo tuve miedo y escondí en la tierra tu dinero. Aquí tienes lo que es tuyo.’ Pero su patrón le contestó: ‘¡Servidor malo y perezoso! Si sabías que cosecho donde no he sembrado y recojo donde no he invertido, debías haber colocado mi dinero en el banco. A mi regreso yo lo habría recuperado con los intereses. Quítenle, pues, el talento y entréguenselo al que tiene diez. El que tiene, más se le da, y tendrá una abundancia; pero el que no es productivo, todo lo que tiene es quitado. Y a ese servidor inútil, échenlo a la oscuridad de afuera: allí será el llorar y el rechinar de dientes.’”

Isteri yang cakap siapakah akan mendapatkannya? Ia lebih berharga dari pada permata. Hati suaminya percaya kepadanya, suaminya tidak akan kekurangan keuntungan. Ia berbuat baik kepada suaminya dan tidak berbuat jahat sepanjang umurnya. Ia mencari bulu domba dan rami, dan senang bekerja dengan tangannya. Tangannya ditaruhnya pada jentera, jari-jarinya memegang pemintal. Ia memberikan tangannya kepada yang tertindas, mengulurkan tangannya kepada yang miskin. Kemolekan adalah bohong dan kecantikan adalah sia-sia, tetapi isteri yang takut akan TUHAN dipuji-puji. Berilah kepadanya bagian dari hasil tangannya, biarlah perbuatannya memuji dia di pintu-pintu gerbang!

Apabila mereka mengatakan: Semuanya damai dan aman--maka tiba-tiba mereka ditimpa oleh kebinasaan, seperti seorang perempuan yang hamil ditimpa oleh sakit bersalin--mereka pasti tidak akan luput. Tetapi kamu, saudara-saudara, kamu tidak hidup di dalam kegelapan, sehingga hari itu tiba-tiba mendatangi kamu seperti pencuri, karena kamu semua adalah anak-anak terang dan anak-anak siang. Kita bukanlah orang-orang malam atau orang-orang kegelapan. Sebab itu baiklah jangan kita tidur seperti orang-orang lain, tetapi berjaga-jaga dan sadar.

Sebab itu ambillah talenta itu dari padanya dan berikanlah kepada orang yang mempunyai sepuluh talenta itu. Karena setiap orang yang mempunyai, kepadanya akan diberi, sehingga ia berkelimpahan. Tetapi siapa yang tidak mempunyai, apapun juga yang ada padanya akan diambil dari padanya. Dan campakkanlah hamba yang tidak berguna itu ke dalam kegelapan yang paling gelap. Di sanalah akan terdapat ratap dan kertak gigi."
