Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity (Holy Trinity Sunday)

Date: June 3, 2012

First Reading (Deuteronomy 4: 32-34, 39-40)
A reading from the book of Deuteronomy.
Moses proclaimed to the people: "Ask of the times past. Inquire from the day when God created man on earth. Ask from one end of the world to the other: Have there ever been anything as extraordinary as this? Has anything like this been heard of before? Has there ever been a people who remained alive after hearing as you did the voice of the living God from the midst of the fire? Never has there been a God who went out to look for a people and take them out from among the other nations by the strength of trials and signs, by wonders, and by war, with a firm hand and an outstretched arm. Never has there been any deed as tremendous as those done for you by the Lord in Egypt, which you saw with your own eyes. Therefore, try to be convinced that the Lord is the only God of heaven and earth, and that there is no other. Observe the laws and the commandments that I command you today, and everything will be well with you and your children after you. So you will live long in the land which the Lord, your God, gives you forever."

Second Reading (Romans 8: 14-17)
A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.
Brothers and sisters: All those who walk in the Spirit of God are sons and daughters of God. Then, no more fear: you did not receive a spirit of slavery, but the Spirit that makes you sons and daughters and every time we cry, "Abba! Father!" the Spirit assures our spirit that we are sons and daughters of God. If we are children, we are heirs, too. Ours will be the inheritance of God and we will share it with Christ; for if we now suffer with him, we will also share Glory with him.

Gospel (Matthew 28: 16-20)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew.
The Eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told to go. When they saw Jesus, they bowed and worshipped him, although some doubted. Then Jesus approached them and stated, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and mark disciples from all nations. Baptize them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to fulfill all that I have commanded you. I am with you always until the end of the world."

  1. Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 33)(Verses 4-6, 9, 18-20, and 22)
The response is: Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.

For upright is the Lord's word and worthy of trust is his work. The Lord loves justice and righteousness, the earth is full of his kindness.

The heavens were created by his word, the breath of his mouth formed their starry host. For he spoke and so it was, he commanded, and everything stood firm.

But the Lord's eyes are even those who fear him, upon those who trust in his loving kindness; to deliver them from death and to preserve them in spite of famine.

In hope, our soul wait for the Lord, for he is our help and our shield. O Lord, let your love rest upon us, even as our hope rests in you.

    1. I concur. Clearly we do not know the reason why Jesus' disciples have doubted.

Let us pray. God our Father, who by sending into the world the Word of truth and the Spirit of sanctification made known to the human race your wondrous mystery, grant us, we pray, that in professing the true faith, we may acknowledge the Trinity of eternal glory and adore your Unity, powerful in majesty. Through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

  7. Priest: Let the Spirit move us to pray to the Father as we speak for the world's people and their needs. Let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
    — For those who do not believe, let us pray to God our Father and the Father of all people, and let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
    — For those who are afraid of God, let us pray to the almighty and ever-loving Father, and let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
    — For those who think God has abandoned them, let us pray to God's only son, who stays with us every day until the end of time, and let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
    — For those who no longer pray, let us pray to Christ, who has all power in heaven and on earth, and let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
    — For those who pray to God in other ways, let us pray to the Spirit who lives in us and guides our prayer, and let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
    — For those who speak of God, let us pray to the Holy Spirit who has spoken through the prophets and in the gospel, and let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
    — Lord, in your Holy Name, obtain for us from your Heavenly Father, His providence of the Saint Peter Canisius International Catholic Parish. And let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
Priest: Let us pray for our personal intentions to the Lord, and offer them to our God in silence. And let us say: God of people, hear our prayer.
God our Father, through the Spirit who prays in us put the right words in our lips and the right concerns in our hearts, that your name may be praised now and forever. Amen.

  9. It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God. For with your Only Begotten Son and the Holy Spirit you are God, one Lord: not in the unity of a single person, but in a Trinity of one substance. For what you have revealed to us of your glory we believe equally of your Son and of the Holy Spirit, so that in the confessing of the true and eternal Godhead, you might be adored in what is proper to each person, their unity in substance, and their equality in majesty. For this is praised by Angels and Archangels, Cherubim too, and Seraphim, who never cease to cry out each day as with one voice they acclaim...

  11. Bow your heads and pray for God's blessing.
May the God of grace and tenderness keep you in the palm of his hand. May his Spirit of wisdom and holiness guide your footsteps on the pathways of love. Amen.
May Jesus Christ, living forever, by your companion in life. May he keep your hearts young and gracious through his Spirit of peace and joy. Amen.
May the Spirit of the Father and the Son give you to one another, and keep you united in one body as God's living people inspired by the gospel. Amen.
And may almighty God bless you and keep you: the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Mass has ended, and you are sent. Therefore, go in the peace and joy of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
