First Reading (Exodus 17: 8–13)
A reading from the book of Exodus.
When the Israelites were at Rephidim, the Amalekites came and attacked them. So Moses stated to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites in the morning. As for me, I will stand with God's staff in my hand at the top of the hill." Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had directed, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of the hill. It happened that when Moses raised his hands, the Israelites would win but when he lowered them, the Amalekites would have the advantage. As Moses' arms grew weary they placed a stone for him to sit on while Aaron and Hur on either side held up his arms which remained steadily until sunset. For his part Joshua mowed down Amalek and his people with the sword.
Second Reading (2 Timothy 3:14 – 4:2)
A reading from the second letter of Saint Paul to Timothy.
Beloved: Continue with what you have learned and what has been entrusted to you, knowing from whom you received it. Besides, you have known the Scriptures from childhood; they will give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, refuting error, for correcting and training in Christian life. Through Scripture the man of God is made expert and thoroughly equipped for every good work. In the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by the hope I have of his coming and his kingdom, I urge you to preach the Word, in season and out of season, reproving, rebuking or advising, always with patience and providing instruction.
Gospel (Luke 18: 1–8)

Jesus told them a parable to show them that they should pray continually and not lose heart. He stated, "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor people. In the same town was a widow who kept coming to him, stating, 'Defend my rights against my opponent.' For a time he refused, but finally he thought: 'Even though I neither fear God nor care about people, this widow bothers me so much I will see that she gets justice; then she will stop coming and wearing me out." And Jesus explained, "Listen to what the evil judge says. Will God not do justice for his chosen ones who cry to him day and night even if he delays in answering them? I tell you, he will speedily do them justice. Yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"

Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 121) (Verses 1–8)

I lift up my eyes to the mountains — from where shall come my help? My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.
Will he let your foot slip, the one watching over you? Will he slumber? No, the guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.
The Lord is your guardian, the Lord is at your side and you in his shade; sunstroke will not be for you by day, nor the spell of the moon by night.
The Lord guards you from every evil; he will protect your life. The Lord watches over your coming and going both now forever.
Primera Lectura (Éxodo 17: 8–13)

En Refidim los amalecitas vinieron a atacar a Israel. Moisés dijo a Josué: “Elígete algunos hombres y marcha a pelear contra los amalecitas. Yo, por mi parte, estaré mañana en lo alto de la loma, con el bastón de Dios en mi mano.” Josué hizo como se lo ordenaba Moisés, y salió a pelear contra los amalecitas. Mientras tanto, Moisés, Aarón y Jur subieron a la cima de la loma. Y sucedió que mientras Moisés tenía las manos arriba, se imponía Israel, pero cuando las bajaba, se imponían los amalecitas. Se le cansaron los brazos a Moisés; entonces tomaron una piedra y sentaron a Moisés sobre ella, mientras Aarón y Jur le sostenían los brazos, uno a cada lado. Así, Moisés mantuvo sus brazos alzados hasta la puesta del sol y Josué le mató mucha, mucha gente a Amalec.
Salmo responsorial (Salmo 121) (Versículos 1–8)
La respuesta es: Nuestro auxilio viene del Señor, quien hizo el cielo y la tierra.
• Levanto mis ojos a las montañas: ¿de dónde me vendrá la ayuda? La ayuda me viene del Señor, que hizo el cielo y la tierra.
• Él no dejará que resbale tu pie: ¡tu guardián no duerme! No, no duerme ni dormita el guardián de Israel.
• El Señor es tu guardián, es la sombra protectora a tu derecha: de día, no te dañará el sol, ni la luna de noche.
• El Señor te protegerá de todo mal y cuidará tu vida. Él te protegerá en la partida y el regreso, ahora y para siempre.
Segunda Lectura (2 Timoteo 3:14 – 4:2)

Pero tú permanece fiel a la doctrina que aprendiste y de la que estás plenamente convencido: tú sabes de quiénes la has recibido. Recuerda que desde la niñez conoces las Sagradas Escrituras: ellas pueden darte la sabiduría que conduce a la salvación, mediante la fe en Cristo Jesús. Toda la Escritura está inspirada por Dios, y es útil para enseñar y para argüir, para corregir y para educar en la justicia, a fin de que el hombre de Dios sea perfecto y esté preparado para hacer siempre el bien. Yo te conjuro delante de Dios y de Cristo Jesús, que ha de juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos, y en nombre de su Manifestación y de su Reino: proclama la Palabra de Dios, insiste con ocasión o sin ella, arguye, reprende, exhorta, con paciencia incansable y con afán de enseñar.
Evangelio (Lucas 18: 1–8)

Después le enseñó con una parábola que era necesario orar siempre sin desanimarse: “En una ciudad había un juez que no temía a Dios ni le importaban los hombres; y en la misma ciudad vivía una viuda que recurría a él, diciéndole: ‘Te ruego que me hagas justicia contra mi adversario.’ Durante mucho tiempo el juez se negó, pero después dijo: ‘Yo no temo a Dios ni me importan los hombres, pero como esta viuda me molesta, le haré justicia para que no venga continuamente a fastidiarme.’” Y el Señor dijo: “Oigan lo que dijo este juez injusto. Y Dios, ¿no hará justicia a sus elegidos, que claman a él día y noche, aunque los haga esperar? Les aseguro que en un abrir y cerrar de ojos les hará justicia. Pero cuando venga el Hijo del hombre, ¿encontrará fe sobre la tierra?”

Musa berkata kepada Yosua: "Pilihlah orang-orang bagi kita, lalu keluarlah berperang melawan orang Amalek, besok aku akan berdiri di puncak bukit itu dengan memegang tongkat Allah di tanganku." Lalu Yosua melakukan seperti yang dikatakan Musa kepadanya dan berperang melawan orang Amalek; tetapi Musa, Harun dan Hur telah naik ke puncak bukit. Dan terjadilah, apabila Musa mengangkat tangannya, lebih kuatlah Israel, tetapi apabila ia menurunkan tangannya, lebih kuatlah Amalek. Maka penatlah tangan Musa, sebab itu mereka mengambil sebuah batu, diletakkanlah di bawahnya, supaya ia duduk di atasnya; Harun dan Hur menopang kedua belah tangannya, seorang di sisi yang satu, seorang di sisi yang lain, sehingga tangannya tidak bergerak sampai matahari terbenam. Demikianlah Yosua mengalahkan Amalek dan rakyatnya dengan mata pedang.

Segala tulisan yang diilhamkan Allah memang bermanfaat untuk mengajar, untuk menyatakan kesalahan, untuk memperbaiki kelakuan dan untuk mendidik orang dalam kebenaran. Dengan demikian tiap-tiap manusia kepunyaan Allah diperlengkapi untuk setiap perbuatan baik. Di hadapan Allah dan Kristus Yesus yang akan menghakimi orang yang hidup dan yang mati, aku berpesan dengan sungguh-sungguh kepadamu demi penyataan-Nya dan demi Kerajaan-Nya: Beritakanlah firman, siap sedialah baik atau tidak baik waktunya, nyatakanlah apa yang salah, tegorlah dan nasihatilah dengan segala kesabaran dan pengajaran.

Yesus mengatakan suatu perumpamaan kepada mereka untuk menegaskan, bahwa mereka harus selalu berdoa dengan tidak jemu-jemu. Kata-Nya: “Dalam sebuah kota ada seorang hakim yang tidak takut akan Allah dan tidak menghormati seorang pun. Dan di kota itu ada seorang janda yang selalu datang kepada hakim itu dan berkata: Belalah hakku terhadap lawanku. Beberapa waktu lamanya hakim itu menolak. Tetapi kemudian ia berkata dalam hatinya: Walaupun aku tidak takut akan Allah dan tidak menghormati seorang pun, namun karena janda ini menyusahkan aku, baiklah aku membenarkan dia, supaya jangan terus saja ia datang dan akhirnya menyerang aku." Kata Tuhan: “Camkanlah apa yang dikatakan hakim yang lalim itu! Tidakkah Allah akan membenarkan orang-orang pilihan-Nya yang siang malam berseru kepada-Nya? Dan adakah Ia mengulur-ulur waktu sebelum menolong mereka? Aku berkata kepadamu: Ia akan segera membenarkan mereka. Akan tetapi, jika Anak Manusia itu datang, adakah Ia mendapati iman di bumi?"

さて、アマレクの戦士たちがイスラエル人に戦いを挑もうと、レフィディムへやって来ました。モーセはヨシュアに、アマレク軍と戦うために人々を召集するよう命じました。そして、「私は明日、神の杖を持って丘の頂に立つ」と言いました。ヨシュアとその部下はアマレク軍と戦うために出て行き、一方、モーセとアロンとフルは丘に登りました。モーセが手に持った杖を差し伸べている間は、イスラエル軍が優勢に立ちましたが、腕を下げるとアマレク軍が優勢になりました。モーセの腕はしびれて、とうとう棒のようになってしまいました。もうこれ以上、杖を持っていることができません。アロンとフルは、石を転がして来てモーセを座らせ、両側に立って、日が暮れるまで二人がかりで彼の腕を支え続けました。こうして、ヨシュアの率いるイスラエル軍は、アマレク軍をみごとに打ち破ったのです。

あなたは、真理を教えた私たちを信頼していなさい。また、小さいころから、自分がどのように聖書を教えられてきたか覚えているでしょう。この聖書こそ、キリスト・イエスを信じることによって救われるための知恵を与えてくれるのです。神の霊感によって書かれた聖書は、何が真理であり、何が悪であるかをよく教えてくれます。また、私たちの生活をまっすぐにし、正しいことを行う力を与えてくれます。こうして神は、私たちをあらゆる点で整え、どんな良い働きをも行う力を、十分に与えてくださるのです。それで私は、神とキリスト・イエスとの御前で、厳粛な思いで忠告します。〔キリストは、いつの日か神の国を完成させるために現れて、生きている者と死んだ者とをさばかれるお方です。〕どんな時にも、神のことばを熱心に伝えなさい。機会があろうとなかろうと、つごうが良かろうと悪かろうと、しっかりやりなさい。過ちを犯している人には忠告して、正しい道に引き戻しなさい。そして善を行うよう励まし、神のことばを教え続けなさい。

ある日、イエスは弟子たちに、いつでも祈り、また答えられるまで祈り続けることを教えようと、一つのたとえを話されました。「ある町に、少しも神を恐れず、人を人とも思わない裁判官がいました。同じ町に住む一人の未亡人が、たびたびこの裁判官のところへ押しかけ、『訴えられて困っています。どうか私を守ってください』と願い出ました。裁判官はしばらくの間、相手にしませんでしたが、あまりのしつこさに我慢できなくなり、心の中でこう考えました。『私は神だろうが人間だろうがこわくないが、あの女ときたらうるさくてかなわない。しかたがない。裁判をしてやることにしよう。そうすれば、もうわずらわしい思いをしなくてすむだろう。』」主は続けて言われました。「このように、悪徳裁判官でさえ音を上げてしまうのなら、まして神は、昼も夜もひたすら訴え続ける信者たちを、必ず正しく取り扱ってくださるはずです。そうは思いませんか。神はすぐにも答えてくださるのです。ただ問題は、メシヤのわたしが帰って来る時、いったいどれだけの人が信仰を持って祈り続けているかです。」
